The tariff rates don’t matter. They aren’t real. It’s all another grift. The markets will crash tomorrow and maybe Tuesday giving the billionaire class that sold weeks ago time to buy in again at a lower price. Trump will once again pause the tariffs in a few days under the guise of other countries giving in to his greatness. The markets will quickly rebound giving the elites a massive windfall. It reminds me of something I read over the weekend. There was one of those personal finance tiktoks or reals debating a particular strategy over 30 years. The difference was alleged to be about $100K by the time you are 65. One of the commenters defended it as possible for people who "don't waste money on vacations and new cars". I'm thinking.... what's the whole point then? There's a balance between planning for the future and the unexpeted and actually living your life in the present. My kids are 24 and 21 and we've went on vacation every year since 2005. If I invested that it would be well into six figures. But at what cost? Would I be better off? I never understood this fascination with making wealth building an almost religious undertaking. I know too many people who have died under the age of 70 for that to be my focus. I'm also fortunate enough to have enough to be casual about these things and still have something waiting for me in 11 years. I understand that. But I'm not going to sweat decisions i've made in the past to provide my family with entertainment and experiences.5 points

If he wants too much, take the comp pick and develop more Skubals. If the Tigers stay revenue sharing recipients, you are talking 3 of the top 35 picks or so in 2027.4 points

Playoff drought snapped! Winning this game on the road when the three ball completely abandoned you is huge. Also wonder if JB discovered something here. Nobody is stopping Brunson’s flopping, but maybe more minutes with Schroeder harassing him so Ausar can work his off-ball roaming, stealing, and disruptive help defense without fouling out. Worth trying.4 points

While I don't disagree about MTG. I was a bit more concerned about Trumpublican Storm Troopers tasering anyone who dares to object at Town Hall "meetings" These are the same folks applauding convicted felons from 1/6 getting off scott free (and celebrated) while applauding deportments without even a mock trial.4 points

I just re-read In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson. A non-fiction book about the American ambassador and his family living in Germany during the rise of Hitler. The parallels to what is happening here in America at this moment are astounding. How regular, ordinary people became enraptured by a beast and all that lead to. Scary times. I never thought I would live to see this in America.4 points

It would be silly for them to trade him after the draft and go into the season relying on a rookie to be a key contributor on offense. They should compete for a Super Bowl this year, and that move would make them worse not better. I'd rather take a 3rd round pick and trade him in March 2026 than a 2nd round pick and trade him in May 2025.4 points

😅 I am chasing around an 18-month-old now, but honestly, the beginning of April is just a busy time at work. I usually do updates at the beginning of my workday, but overseas calls are getting in the way. I should be back with your tiger cub updates here shortly.4 points

I made the mistake of getting on one of the many Tigers related Facebook groups today and it makes me even more grateful for this forum given the low level of what passes for “discussion“ often times among the unwashed masses. And the problem is not so much the articles posted but the comment section. For a lot of people the solution to this team is the guillotine for everyone. There’s actually people who hate Verlander because they think he left the Tigers to sign a bigger contract elsewhere and they don’t know that he was traded. And people make these comments with a confident triumphalism that’s bewildering and almost makes me feel unclean. This place is Plato’s Academy compared to Facebook. It’s nice to be able to rub shoulders with all of you, or at least most of you. 😉4 points

Heading onto the road shortly to make the 2hr 45m drive down to Safeco Field, or I guess it's called T-Mobile now. Have been to many games there but never with the roof closed, which I assume they'll do today. First time in the States in 2025 so in case Peace Arch border officials stop me and read my phone, let me just state for the record ... God bless America and I hereby swear I am not and never have been a friend, family member or associate of former governor Trudeau, what a looser.4 points

My Mark Warner email response, Dear Mr [Nice try ISIS, not today] Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts related to Ukraine, and Russia’s violent invasion. I have been horrified by President Trump’s abandonment of Ukraine as it fights for survival against Russia’s unprovoked and brutal aggression. Putin’s invasion of a smaller sovereign state is immoral, and poses a monumental threat to our core security interests. Trump’s inability to condemn Russia for its heinous acts, and his policies that have actively aligned the United States of America with countries like Russia and North Korea, via our votes at the United Nations, is a new low and a stain on our history. The President’s treatment of President Zelenskyy during the meeting at the White House earlier this year was beyond bizarre and an embarrassment. Trump’s embrace of Putin and decisions impacting our vital military and intelligence support to Ukraine, offered a great victory to tyrant rulers around the world, and drive us away from our allies who – for generations – stood by our side as we worked to create a safer and more prosperous world after the horrors of the Second World War. Ukrainians have displayed remarkable courage, resolve, and strength as they fend off Russia’s brutal invasion. While Putin naively expected that Kyiv would fall in a matter of days, Ukraine has instead displayed tremendous willingness and ability to fight and has decimated Russia’s military capabilities for some time to come. Without risking the life of a single American or NATO soldier, Ukraine has imposed enormous losses on Russia’s military, preserved democracy over autocracy, and thwarted Putin’s imperial ambitions. As Ukraine continues its fight against Russian authoritarianism, continued American support remains decisive. As the Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I will continue working to ensure that Ukraine has the diplomatic, security and intelligence backing that they so critically need, and I will hold the administration’s feet to the fire to ensure that President Trump abides by the United States’ commitments to allies and partners. Sincerely, MARK R. WARNER United States Senator4 points

All the Bourne movies premiered in Boise, Idaho, where I live because the producer’s wife is from Boise and was active in local theater for years before she married him. So they all premier here with all proceeds being a fundraiser for local theater. For the fourth Bourne movie, which sucked, my son who was quite young and short at the time, ducked under a barricade and ran up to get a selfie with Matt Damon and Damon‘s people tried to stop him, but Damon was wonderful and let Mason take the picture with him. I think the Ultimatum is one of the most exciting movies I’ve ever seen. I didn’t see the premiere at the local Egyptian theater, but I did see the film that week during its premier and I gasped so many times.4 points

At a party given by a billionaire on Shelter Island, the late Kurt Vonnegut informs his pal, the author Joseph Heller, that their host, a hedge fund manager, had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his wildly popular novel Catch 22 over its whole history. Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have . . . Enough.”4 points

While I appreciate people slamming Hegseth for the security failures, I really want him getting hammered on lying about it. We have bemoaned the constant lies from Trump and his GOP enablers. This is a good place to start hanging the lies out for constant condemnation.4 points
