  1. He was a second round pick just about 1.5 years ago... if it works out it'll be seen as a genius move... get a 2nd round talent for a 4th round cost. I also don't really figure the Panthers as a powerhouse in terms of developing so it's possible that the Cowboys could find a way to motivate/use him that the Panthers just couldn't.
  2. I don't think I'd want to pay a 4th for him.
  3. Still some time, but it I suspect nothing much more will happen. Still wished they added Arden Key, but I don't think he would have been a AMJOR impact guy, just a more experienced rotational piece vs. a lot of unproven, unknown guys. I supposed if we get Paschal back here soon that could sorta kinda be considered another addition as he's missed the last two games.
  4. Texans' Reddit reaction to the trade:
  5. I suspect it'll depend a LOT on how well he picks up the Lions terminology and scheme, but I agree with MB that he likely won't get starter-level snaps.
  6. https://x.com/Rickonia/status/1832505413419593888 Seems like an okay kinda guy...
  7. Yeah I think we've seen over the last few games that we haven't gotten a lot of pressure on the QB and we need to hArden that defensive line up. Our secondary isn't bad but give any receiver/QB all day to throw and they'll eventually get someone open. More pressure will be a Key moving forward.
  8. Yep... I was forgetting that they had the extra 4th from a previous trade and that's the one they used for Vaki.
  9. I see what you did there, and I'm in 100% agreement.
  10. Reports where that the Browns wanted a good 3rd day pick for him, so you think 4th, maybe high 5th. Obviously the Lions do not have a 4th and their 5th is likely going to be pretty far down the round, so this looks like about what the Browns were hoping. They get a late 5th instead of an early 5th, but the move up from the 7th round to the 6th round the following year to compensate. So, I don't know that I'd call it highway robbery, but if that's really the deal I'm more than okay with it. Smith is still under contract for 2025, right?
  11. Just thinking out loud but I think a rental is less likely to get Holmes to trade. I think he's going to want something more than just a 2-3 months of a player for a pick. Edit to add: I also worry about if the Lions are trying to get something better and so waiting on Smith... that can bite you in the butt. If we're waiting for something better and the Brown get an offer from someone else while we're waiting might they pull the trigger and then we're left with nothing? There was a rumor earlier that the Browns were the ones waiting, hoping for a better offer than what the Lions were willing to do. That would make me less nervous if true.
  12. This is honestly so disrespectful of Holmes. I keep hitting F5 and still nothing done. Doesn't he know that I won't be able to get a good nights sleep like this??
  13. If it's the Browns holding out hoping for something better that makes me feel better than if the Lions were holding out hoping the Browns would drop the price. I was worried that the Lions would be too stingy and someone else would pick up the trade pieces before the Lions could.
  14. True... which means he might be slightly more shy about pulling the trigger.
  15. Probably just generic roster moves. Both these players were elevated from the practice squad on Nov. 2nd so they were probably simply depth pieces that are going back down to the Practice Squad after the game. Probably...
  16. 24 hours after it was supposedly all but done that Smith was heading to the Lions and still no news. So... do we think the Lions are still shopping for other options? Do we think the Browns are asking for too much? Do we think that the original rumors were wrong? Or is Smith just trying to get Brodric Martin to give up 99 before he'll agree to come here?
  17. And...? Look, I'm not saying that it's a good thing if he said that, but on my list of things I'm gonna be upset about the coach of a losing team on a miserable night getting peeved and maybe saying F.O. to maybe the opposing team is very far down my list of thing to be upset around. Not saying you are getting riled up about it MB... just saying it seems like just a low level news item that I wonder why Dov is even commenting on it.
  18. After a rough 1-4 start the Rams have won 3 straight and are getting Jackson and Avila back for their OL this week. I think the NFC West might be interesting to watch the next few months.
  19. Just not carrying a suitcase... he's doing with while wearing BLUE! so, ya know...
  20. Campbell is has the 8th most regular season wins as a Lions head coach: Wayne Fontes: 66 Potsy Clark: 53 George Wilson: 53 Buddy Parker: 47 Joe Schmidt: 43 Monte Clark: 43 Jim Caldwell: 36 Dan Campbell: 31
  21. https://x.com/kylemalzhan/status/1853239764817703260?s=46 Now, there ABSOLUTELY are times when this can be true. A worse team comes in and plays really well, the other team makes some mistakes and you get an upset game. That is NOT what happened here. The Lions won the NFCNorth last year. They made it to the NFC Championship game. The Lions this year are 6-1. They beat the Vikings at their home while you lost to them at your home. The Lions are routinely being ranked top 1-3 in power rankings. This was NOT a case of a lesser team upsetting a better team.
  22. I'd say grab Arden Key from the Titans too. Listening to the guy from Locked on Titans, he seemed to think that Key could be had for a 7th that could bump to a 6th with various conditions. Obviously this is just one podcasters opinion but if accurate I'd do that in a heart beat for more rushing depth.
  23. I didn't realize that he's thrown 10 INTs for far this year, and that's with missing 2 games. He hasn't had a game year were he hasn't thrown an INT. (Compare that with Willis who hasn't thrown an INT yet in his 2+ games... but has thrown 3 TDs.) Love has a completion percentage of just 61.2%. Looking at the 25 QBs who've thrown at least 200 times this season, wanna guess where he ranks? 25th. I don't think Love is necessarily bad, but I'm also not as worried about him as I might have been earlier.
  24. Also I'd be remiss if I didn't mentioning Bates given that I was a big fanboy of his from his season with the Panthers. I'll be honest with you was was always a little nervous that playing in the NFL was going to get to Bates and he'd end up folding under the pressure. The early missed extra point in the season didn't help. But that's turned out to be his one and only blemish so far. And he was perfect in GB in the cold, windy, rain, nailing a 27 yarder plus 3 extra points. Out of 31 extra point attempts he's made 30. For FGs he's been perfect. 3 for 3 from the 20-29 yard range 5 for 5 from the 30-39 yard range 3 for 3 from the 40-49 yard range 1 for 1 from the 50+ yard range
  25. My biggest fear with Branch, right now, is that the league tries to save face by doubling down on the punishment. Kinda like when instead of admitting that there was a mistake by the refs in the Dallas game last year they put out there that the Lions did it wrong and issues specific directions on what teams were supposed to do (which is actually what the Lions did). I can totally see the NFL hearing people complain that the ejection was unfair by say: "Oh, you think that? Well, not only was it TOTALLY the right thing to do but it was SOOOO bad of a hit that we're also going to suspend Branch for 3 games just to show you how positive we are that it was a bad hit." Now whenever someone brings up a bad hit and asks why that person didn't get ejected but Branch did the obvious rebuttal will be: Well, that may have been a bad hit, but it wasn't so bad that the player was suspended, was it?
