  1. I didn't realize that he's thrown 10 INTs for far this year, and that's with missing 2 games. He hasn't had a game year were he hasn't thrown an INT. (Compare that with Willis who hasn't thrown an INT yet in his 2+ games... but has thrown 3 TDs.) Love has a completion percentage of just 61.2%. Looking at the 25 QBs who've thrown at least 200 times this season, wanna guess where he ranks? 25th. I don't think Love is necessarily bad, but I'm also not as worried about him as I might have been earlier.
  2. Also I'd be remiss if I didn't mentioning Bates given that I was a big fanboy of his from his season with the Panthers. I'll be honest with you was was always a little nervous that playing in the NFL was going to get to Bates and he'd end up folding under the pressure. The early missed extra point in the season didn't help. But that's turned out to be his one and only blemish so far. And he was perfect in GB in the cold, windy, rain, nailing a 27 yarder plus 3 extra points. Out of 31 extra point attempts he's made 30. For FGs he's been perfect. 3 for 3 from the 20-29 yard range 5 for 5 from the 30-39 yard range 3 for 3 from the 40-49 yard range 1 for 1 from the 50+ yard range
  3. My biggest fear with Branch, right now, is that the league tries to save face by doubling down on the punishment. Kinda like when instead of admitting that there was a mistake by the refs in the Dallas game last year they put out there that the Lions did it wrong and issues specific directions on what teams were supposed to do (which is actually what the Lions did). I can totally see the NFL hearing people complain that the ejection was unfair by say: "Oh, you think that? Well, not only was it TOTALLY the right thing to do but it was SOOOO bad of a hit that we're also going to suspend Branch for 3 games just to show you how positive we are that it was a bad hit." Now whenever someone brings up a bad hit and asks why that person didn't get ejected but Branch did the obvious rebuttal will be: Well, that may have been a bad hit, but it wasn't so bad that the player was suspended, was it?
  4. The Titans become the first team to face the Lions and then WIN their game the next week this year. But, it sorta makes sense. The Lions didn't do that much punishing on offense because they just didn't need too. I mean TOTAL of 94 yards through the air. And on the ground if we take out the 70 yard run from Gibbs, the Lions ran for a TOTAL of 94 yards. Their offense may have been banged around a bit but defensively they were probably pretty fresh.
  5. Lions remaining schedule... now of course: Any Given Sunday and injuries might be a factor, etc. etc. etc. But, on paper: @ Texans: The Texans are good and it's at their place, but Lions will have Jamo back and hopefully some DL help. This won't be an easy win, but I think the Lions are the better team and enough better that they can make up for it being a road game. On paper: Win. Jaguars: A 2-7 team coming to Detroit. On paper: Win. @ Colts: They may not be horrible, but they're also not good. On paper: Win. Bears: After some early success, Bears are falling off a bit. Like the Colts they're not horrible, but they're also not good and it'll be in Detroit. On paper: Win. Packers: If they get healthy, especially on defense, they may be tougher. But the Lions also played without Jamo, without Branch for most of the game, and may have some defense help coming via trade, so that should offset the Packers possible gains via healthy people. Plus we beat them in their house, now they have to come here. On paper: Win. Bills: 7-2, but they're coming to Detroit. I haven't watched much Bills this year so this is hard to say. This may be one of the tougher teams we're facing this year down the stretch. Still, the Lions have a better record right now and this will be a home game. It's close and will depend on a LOT of factors between now and then, but right now... On paper: Win. @ Bears: We'll have to see what the Bears do between now and then. Do they find themselves and start putting it together? If so, then maybe this is a tough outdoor contest. However, right now it doesn't look like that will happen. On paper: Win. @ 49ers: The 9ers had some injury issues, but so have the Lions. If they get their weapons back and get on a roll this will have to be re-evaluated. However we can only go based on what we know right now. On paper: Win. (But! I reserve the right to re-evaluate later.) Vikings: We beat them in Minnesota, we should be able to beat them at home. On paper: Win. It would not shock me if the Lions win out. I'm not predicting it because there are going to be lots and lots of things happening. But purely looking at it on paper, it's reasonable to expect a win in each remaining game.
  6. Goff has averaged just 115 passing yards the last two games. Maybe the Lions should trade Goff for some defensive help and see what Hooker can do.
  7. The green mouth guard stuck in the helmet would be a give-away.
  8. Screw you refs, we still got Kerby!
  9. Can't prevent the NFL from ejecting teammates.
  10. I think you'd have a hard time even calling that targeting. He was dropping into the hit, not launching himself. Bad hit? Yes. Foul, Yes. Ejection? Come on...
  11. That it was a foul? Absolutely. You, unfortunately, see hits like this in pretty much any game. It was a bad hit, Branch should do better. But I've NEVER see an ejection for something as (relatively speaking here) benign as this.
  12. Wow... what a freaking joke! Unbelievable. Just the Lions weren't committed enough penalties so they had to eject someone.
  13. I would hate that. 😞 I want him in the AFC. Wait, check that... I want him in the CFL. Yeah, that's a good place for him if he isn't here as our OC.
  14. I don't think there is ANY chance that Ben Johnson goes to the Jets this year. ZERO. That team is in worse shape right now than the Lions ever were (except maybe during the decade of despair). Ben will likely get looked at again this off season and he'll likely get offers but given that he's returned twice it's obvious that he's not going to jump for just any available vacancy. He's looking for the right place. The Jets ain't it.
  15. I don't think even Matt Millen would consider that for more than 2 seconds. Holy crap that would instantly become the new worst trade in NFL history. I mean even if the Lions won a super bowl this year because of this trade I'd consider it an awful trade.
  16. Not that I'm counting down or anything, but 126 hours, 25 minutes left.
  17. I'm probably grossly reading way too much into things based on limited info, but it feels like Jamo's admitting these mistakes and admitting that he's wrong when this stuff happens. It's a case of: "Yeah, I was dumb, I was wrong... I'm sorry, I screwed up coach. I'll do better, I promise." vs: "Man, I didn't do anything wrong. The cops/league/drug testers are out to get me. It's not my fault." The first attitude will buy you a lot of leniency and good will with the team and they'll be willing to work with you where as the second attitude will get you shown the door pretty quickly. But to your point, NYLion, each time you have to come to them with the first attitude the leniency and good will you can purchase gets smaller and smaller.
  18. Folks just a general warning here: We're straying very close to a political issue here re: How the cops handled Jamo. I don't think anyone has cross over the political line, but we're all (myself included) inching up to it. I mean it's kinda hard not to given this situation. BUT: There is a reason we have a political forum area and there's a reason we keep politics in that area. Let's try to keep the discussion on the Jamo/Lions aspect of this as much as possible and be ultra-polite with each other when we do touch on the "other" stuff.
  19. I think it's important to look at the two aspects of this incident separately... just like with the gambling issue. Re the gambling: Part A: Did Jamo break a rule? Was he responsible to the consequences of that? Was he dumb/immature to not make sure he clearly understood the rules before gambling? Yes on all accounts. Part B: Was it a stupid rule that says "It's perfectly okay to do this if you're standing right here, but it's 1/3 of a season suspension if you take one step over this invisible line and do that same thing right there"? Also yes. In the same way: Part A: Is it dumb/immature to not make sure you understand the firearms laws before you go out with a concealed firearm? Yes. Part B: Did the police do a questionable thing by letting him go and not arresting or charging him? That's up for debate. Based on what we've seen I'm thinking no. In both instances Part A is a reflection on the maturity and decision making of Jamo and it both instances Jamo if found lacking. This doesn't make him evil/horrible/a puppy kicker... it make him immature. In both instances Part B does not reflect on Jamo what so ever.
  20. Thanks for this T&P. So, it's entirely reasonable and legal for the cops to perceive the situation and conclude: Guns are properly registered, one of two had a valid CPL, Occupants where completely cooperating, no other odd action appears to be going on... yeah, we're not going to cite/arrest the guy here, just let him off with a warning. But here's the $64,000 question: Was this what the police on the scene were going to do or where they evaluating and deciding that they should cite or arrest this guy and it's only that someone higher up stepped in and said: No, let him go. IF that was the situation then I feel like the police may have done some questionable actions there. Edit to add: The above is commentary on the situation and the police and how they handled it. Looking purely at Jamo: This does NOT excuse stupid behavior. Jamo should have known better and should have gone through the proper procedure to get a CPL. This isn't "Jamo is evil and a gang banger and probably was on the way to murder children" or anything like that. But it is saying that this is another instance of Jamo not fully thinking through and not making sure he's correctly adhering to all the rules/laws.
  21. If you could get Smith for a Day 3 pick and Arden Key for a Day 3 pick... I'd say grab them both.
  22. Hey folks, I've started a project and would love to have some input and/or help. Next year marks the 90th anniversary of the greatest sports season in history and I think way too many people don't know about it... even Detroit fans. I'm guessing a few of you are asking: What happened 90 years ago? Well: Tigers win their first World Series Lions win their first NFL Championship Red Wings win their first Stanley Cup Joe Louis is named AP male Athlete of the year after going a perfect 11-0 in the ring. And those are just the BIG stories. Anyway as I mentioned I think this is a largely forgotten story so I'm trying to do a little bit to bring it back into the spot light. I've started making a fandom wiki to collect all the stories and people together in one place. I would certainly appreciate any comments on what you like or what could be done different/better... and I'd also greatly appreciate any help. Currently I only have 21 pages done, and many of those are just hubs listing people. I need to build out many, many more pages particularly synopsis of the people involved. So if you feel like adding anything I'd be very grateful. Here's the link to the DETROIT city of CHAMPions wikipEDIA... or the DETROIT CHAMPEDIA: https://detroitcityofchampions.fandom.com/wiki/Detroit:_City_of_Champions_Wiki
  23. It's like on Hell's Kitchen (one my wife's favorite shows) where the challenges seem to some how, some way ALWAYS come down to the last two contestants from the red team and the blue team.
