  1. Two possible reasons for this... 1. Det at GB is an late game... starting at 4:25. Are they allowed to flex out of an late afternoon game? 2. Minny is a good team that's playing very well so I'm not surprised the NFL would want to showcase them. They don't have a ton over showcase games, including this SNF, the Vikings have: 1x SNF, 1x MNF, 1x TNF, 1x Sunday late afternoon, 1x TBD, 1x International Game. Compare that with Detroit: 2x SNF, 2x MNF, 1x TNF, 3x Sunday late afternoon, 1x TBD, 1x Thxgiving Day.

  4. I mean... yes and no. It's okay to be loud, I'm not sure on the obnoxious side of things. I was lurking over in the Vikings sub and I saw someone posted something about their experience. According to the post a bunch of drunk Lions fans heckled him and his family and made sexually suggestive comments to his wife and mother. That's being way too obnoxious imho. And I know every fan base has their losers who get too drunk and take things too far. I know most fans aren't like this. But I don't think we should be afraid to call out our own when they cross the line. Celebrate the Lions absolutely! Cheer as loud as you want too... I freakin' LOVE IT when I hear chants of LET'S GO LIONS or JARED GOFF at away games. That's just AMAZING too me. But don't get opposing fans faces... don't be obnoxious. And if you can't control yourself when your drunk, maybe you shouldn't be in public when your drinking heavily.
  5. Ah, okay, that makes more sense. But I disagree that this is what happened here. Mahomes slowed down and the defender starting slowing down too, but couldn't stop in time. The defender was in front of Mahomes, Mahomes saw that he was running to hard and thought he could get around him... and he could. 1. Defender is in position to get to Mahomes, Mahomes is stopping his run and starts to change speed/direction 2. Defender is still in position to tackle Mahomes 3. Defender is still in position, but has over pursued and... 4. Can't stop in time to get Mahomes who... 5. Slips by the defender If you're contending that the defender slowed down and "eased up" on his approach because he thought Mahomes was going out of bounds, then he should have been in an even better position to stop and still block Mahomes.
  6. Are you saying the pump fake beyond the line of scrimmage?
  7. Watching the highlights on Youtube... and I'm reminded of just how much I HATE that Viking horn whenever the Vikings have a good play. And I think the reason I hate it so much is that I think I'd love it that much if I was a Vikings fan. It's a cool sound effect that fits with their team so yeah... I'd love it if I was a Vikings fan... hate it as a Lions fan.
  8. I 100% get that. If I had that with a bunch of other people I'd be far more interested in watching it live, so I totally understand.
  9. I honestly don't mind the in-game insertion ads when they are done right. Like during a TO in football or an injury or there's a meeting on the mound in baseball or new batter is coming up... these are "dead" times anyway where there's no action on the field so throw an ad up... pay the bills, just as long as you get back to the game as soon as the action starts.
  10. Unhinged? No my friend... DVR is the best thing to happen to football since the forward pass. I get an hour of my day back and I don't have to watch ads? Sign me up. Also after the other team gets a lucky play in and goes for a TD...? You know that part where the announcers gush over how wonderful the play was and how they schooled the Lions and replay it 3 or 4 times? Yeah, I get to fast forward over that too.
  11. When was the last time the Lions have had the best record in the the NFC as late as week six?
  12. Time to see if that story line about the Lions physically beating up teams holds true.
  13. That's a good point... It an odd one like come-back player of the year. In order to win it you gotta be good, but you also had to have been bad (or hurt) last year.
  14. I my opinion I don't think Holmes is going to go out and spend a lot of capital on a rental. It HAS to be a player who can help now and for the next few years at least. Crobsy could be that player, sure... but: What's the price? Let's say 2 firsts (I honestly think it's gonna cost more than that). Would Crosby give us more value over the next 3-5 years than two first rounds would give us? I tend to think no, not with how Holmes drafts. So then the next question is this: Will Crosby get you a ring in the next 1-3 years that you'll miss over the next 4-6? Do you anticipate the team falling off in terms of the mythical "window of opportunity" and not being a contender? Again, I tend to think no. I would love to see the Lions add to the DE spot, for a reasonable price. But I wouldn't really want them to go all out.
  15. That is the danger! Most of my family/friends know not to text during a game, but there are times when one forgets.
  16. I personally did NOT like that. I thought it was dangerous and the very next play showed why. This is slightly like the last season when the Saints did a "victory formation" but then ran a real play so Williams could get a TD. Obviously less egregious, but still in the same ballpark. "Victory formation" is supposed to signal to the defense that you giving up the play to run out clock so no one needs to play hard and risk injury. The offense is conceding the play, and defense agrees to not try to hurt anyone. But then Goff sits there for a couple of seconds running more time off. What happens the next play? The defense lunges hard at the Lions even though they're back in "victory formation." If someone got hurt there it would have been the Lions fault imho.
  17. The ref has to set the ball though, right? Would the ref set the ball before the teams were both reasonably at the line? Regardless I think it should be changed in the off-season because you know teams will try to exploit this.
  18. I tend to agree but I don't know if there's an reasonable alternative way to do it. You can't say for 100% sure that the QB would have been sacked... probably, yes... but not for 100% certain.
  19. I thought it was supposed to be as soon as he starts the slide.
  20. This has certainly seemed to be an issue with the defense. They get so aggressive going for the QB that sometimes huge running lanes open up for the QB. Week 1: Stafford for 0 yards Week 2: Mayfield for 34 yards Week 3: Murray for 45 yards Week 4: Smith 38 yards Week 6: Prescott for 1 yard Week 7: Darnold for 39 yards Other than week 1 against Stafford (quite immobile) and week 6 against Prescott (Blow out) the opposing QBs have gotten some nice chucks with running the ball.
  21. I try to always start the game about 1 hr late, then I fast forward through commercials and half time... I usually finish the game right about the time it finishes in real time.
  22. I'm not horribly upset with the decision to go for it... I wouldn't have (but then again I'm not a NFL HC), but the WAY in which they tried to go for it was disappointing. The one guy moving early put the defense on alert to look for something... not sure what they were necessarily looking for, but it surely made the Vikings suddenly pay closer attention.
  23. I don't see the Raiders doing that even if they lose the next few games. Crosby is still relatively young and turning around in the NFL isn't like in baseball where it can take many seasons before you start to see a shift. Just look at the Lions: Three years from 3-13 to a NFC Championship game appearance. I suspect the Raiders feel they can rebuild around Crosby if need be. It'll come down to Crosby expressing a desire to be traded. Now, if the Raiders still stink next year then you only have two more years of Crosby... then maybe.
  24. I wonder if Detroit would be as good as they are now without the trade though? Don't get me wrong here... I think Holmes and Campbell would still have built a winner, but would we be on Super Bowl contender this year or would it be 25 or 26 before we got there? Because of how many trades happened in the draft it's kinda hard to say exactly who is or isn't with the Lions with the draft capital gained from the trades, but at the very least I'm willing to say that Jamo and Gibbs. You might make case for Branch and/or Campbell and/or LaPorta.
