I don't think we'll see Bichette/Bregman/Tucker. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it. League averages last season: .315 OBP, 22.2% SO%, 8.4% BB%. Tigers last season: .316 OBP, 23.9% SO%, 8.4% BB%. Kim career: .324 OBP, 19.0% SO%, 10.2% BB%. He helps with the "control the strike zone" line that we heard Harris talk about. Granted, its a little apples to oranges comparing Kim's career to 2025 lines, but I think Kim's injury recovery in 2025 merit a longer term view for him. I understand some of his WAR might come from defense. To that point, what will be the defense of Bregman/Bichette towards the end of the contracts that they'll receive vs the end of Kim's contract? They'll have better bats, that's fine, not going to debate that. But the Tigers also have to consider other areas of the team to invest in.

I think the Tiger bullpen got the message.

Kim adds plate discipline, OBP, and base running at the top of the lineup and above average defensive ability around the IF. Other than that, sure, what does he add? We can talk about Bichette/Bregman, but I doubt they’re realistic additions. I don’t think it’s for not trying, I just don’t see it. Tucker is interesting. I’m not at all opposed to moving either/both Greene/Carpenter. Trading a corner OF and trading from among the numerous 2B prospects to bring in some younger and controllable pitching seems wise to me.

If there are logjams at positions, deal from depth to address the shallows. I think they were reluctant about Bregman's throwing arm? Seems like that's never been a strength for him per baseball savant. So, I don't know, take that for whatever its worth I guess. Bichette has the stigma about sticking at SS. McGonigle is also questionable there as well. But is Rainier really the long term SS in the organization? Is McGonigle/Baez/McKinstry or Bichette/Kim a solution at SS until Rainier might be ready? As I mentioned above, I've been interested in Kim for this IF. I wonder if he is the best option available in terms of positional fit and finances to add some OBP, contact hitting, IF defense, baserunning? He opted out of, what, 1 for $16M? What's he looking for? Is he an option that also allows for some serious SP/RP upgrades to shore up those weaknesses?

I was interested in Kim last offseason and remain so this offseason. I believe they are parroting me.

On board with this plan. I don't doubt there will be trade offers. But I don't know how to adequately put a value on playoff contention. I don't know how to adequately put a value on having Skubal in a playoff rotation. How do you put a price tag on that in a trade?

I like Ohtani and Betts. Ohtani is a generational talent doing something we’ve never seen before and likely won’t see again. I don’t think Betts gets enough credit for his combination of versatility at such a high level. I think that’s in part because of Ohtani being on his team. And neither appear to be unlikable personalities. Yamamoto’s performance in game 7 after game 6 is highly impressive to me. And the story is that he was willing to pitch in game 3 if needed because of how long it was going after pitching the complete game in game 2. The are other Dodgers that on an individual basis seem like they’d easily be fan favorites if they played for Detroit. The collection of Dodgers is just annoying.

I'm not ready for autumn/winter. I want more Tiger games, I want more bike riding, I want more lawn mowing, I want more windows down in the car, I want more short sleeves and shorts.

I'm the opposite. If my team loses, I'd rather it be highly competitive. I can walk away better from the Seattle series this season and the Cleveland series last season than I can after being swept by Baltimore or San Francisco. Those series were embarrassing.

Thinking about Bichette having to stop at 3B earlier in the game because of the bum knee. Tough to say it plays out as it does afterwards, or close to it, but it’s a play that sticks out to me now.
