  1. Nice area.
  2. Good day to kick some Asstro.
  3. I don't know what the magic number is. I was looking at records sometime before the Twins' series. If Detroit plays .500 ball, Cleveland would have to be better than .667. Not impossible, but I wouldn't put your paycheck on it.
  4. I wouldn't worry much about opinions since it is actual Ws & Ls that matter. If someone wants to discredit the Tigers because of the division, so be it. The brackets are seeded by Ws & Ls, so an opinion isn't going to knock them down to 6. Which reminds me, someone around these parts (I know it wasn't you) was complaining about an ESPN poll ranking the Brewers ahead of the Tigers a few weeks ago. That didn't age very well.
  5. Is there an opener scenario coming up? I know he had a start several games ago, but I think that was kind of a 6th starter in the middle of a no days off in a two week schedule type of thing.
  6. I would recommend skipping the middle game, but you do what you want to.
  7. What, 2 pitches from Horn there? He and Montero to finish things out. That’s fine. Sounds like Houston might be hitting town with a bit of a worm out bullpen. That’s too bad.
  8. This guy gets it.
  9. I’m fine with Paddock still being in there to go as long as he can. Again, save the arm barn for the Houston series. I don’t know who is and isn’t available today. I’d rather save Melton for possibly a pair of save situations against Houston. Looks like Horn is up. Throw him, sure. Throw Kahnle. Throw Montero. Hanifee if needed.
  10. Falcons v Browns preseason?
  11. This might not be a popular thought, but down 7-1 going into the 4th, they’ve won the series, they’ve got a 5-2 road trip in hand at worst. Houston is the next series. There could be tie breaking scenarios related to it. If the Tigers crawl back into this game, so be it. But I’m okay with cashing this one out, saving the decent bullpen arms for the next three games.
  12. I agree with RM Doggy.
  13. Mize Doggy?
  14. I know we wandered on that corner, but I'm not sure we ever went into the Tropicana. Hold on. Shouldn't the Tampa Bay Rays relocate from Tropicana Field to the Corner Formally Known as Tropicana? Then shove the Athletics into Nashville, and we're all set with teams and stadiums.
  15. Because we gotta have New York vs New York, and Chicago vs Chicago, and Los Angeles vs Los Angeles, and Tampa vs Miami. All natural long standing bitter rivalries that just have to happen. Which is why once I become emperor of the world, my first order of business, well.... maybe second, is geographical realignment of MLB.
  16. CoPilot has Jose Urena type of control there.
  17. I didn't realize the scope to which they had a small footprint to deal with. Per this map, part of the RF stands are above a roadway.
  18. If there's going to be a miss on free agency, I'd rather it be on shorter term deals. To that point, Harris hasn't failed by giving out a long term clunker.
  19. Your last sentence is very funny.
  20. The two times I've been there we stayed at that intersection, but not at that former structure. Can't tell you which ones, because you know, Vegas and all.
  21. The evolution over time is interesting to me. Not all that long ago, or maybe longer ago than I want to admit, Buffalo was a city that found its way on expansion lists. I think they considered possible expansion when they built their current minor league ballyard, but I don't know if the engineering ideas were actually incorporated into the actual build. I wonder how much Canada is in pay for an expansion team. It seems like Toronto has a claim for most of Canada as their team. So, does MLB stand to gain additional market (read that as revenue rather than geography) by setting another team north of the border?
  22. Seems like a decent spot for a casino.
  23. I don't mind critiquing Harris' moves in free agency. But I think its appropriate to remember the context. Urshela and Canha, for instance. Canha was traded for as a veteran RHH bat for the lineup. I think that was wise given where the rest of the lineup was. The lineup was largely unproven, a bit towards the LHH side, and there wasn't an obvious 1B backup to Torkelson (who ended up demoted for a time). Urshela was a late signing. There was a need for a short term 3B and I think Harris was waiting out the market at the time. Canha had a bit of a contract, but certainly nothing onerous. Urshela was cheap contract. Not much risk for either. As far as the pitching, I was fine with Maeda's signing. He was brought in to eat innings and he simply aged out. HIs previous season was solid after coming off of a missed season. Harris struck gold with Flaherty 1.0 and acquired prospects for him. Flaherty 2.0 is a bit fo a mystery, but I don't recall anyone thinking that contract was unreasonable. Cobb and Brebbia were certainly questionable. I'll pull Kahnle off to the side here. I remember posting something about his usage over the seasons and asking an open question if anyone was worried about it. I wish I knew where that post was. I wonder if he's simply hit an innings limit for himself. I'll agree with you on the positives. I think the trading has been slightly better than neutral. I'd say free agency has been a mixed bag.
