  1. The home town season ticket holders that have gone through the several season losing streak certainly deserve to see an on field celebration.
  2. I don't feel bad for the Clippers. Its Kawhi Leonard. What did they expect?
  3. "Might as well get ready for the postseason." I mean, what else could Skubal be saying there?
  4. I mentioned this around Labor Day weekend. The 7-2 in the Orioles/Royals string of 9 games has been so huge in this run. 85-77 seemed best case back then, and now it would be a disappointment.
  5. Quite a baffling season from Miller. Didn't let runners on, league average SO%, better than average BB%. But he gave up gopher balls, and like you mention, leverage was an issue.
  6. These damn millennials and their lack of patience....
  7. Leyland tells you to go get a f-ckin' win, you go get him dozens of wins. Its just what you do.
  8. Maeda, Baez, and Torkelson better show up to Lakeland in the BSOTLs next February.
  9. Sounds like Shelby Miller will be DFAed.
  10. Oh. My. Good. Ness.
  11. (1) Is he related to Andrew Vaughn? (2) Does knowing who Greg Vaughn is make me old?
  12. Yes, the more athletic style of play in the field, offensively and defensively, has been fun, too. I'm not sure its all Meadows, but it seems like the defense has been much improved since his return. I suppose part of that is the significant upgrade with Meadows in CF and the domino effect of Greene and Vierling with decent CF skills being pushed to the corners. The range of the total OF is noticeably better. But the IF also seems to have gotten better. Jung isn't necessarily a 3B, at least to my unqualified eye. I think the arm is suspect to begin with. However I think he's been better than advertised. And Torkelson seems to be better than he was before, albeit there's still room for improvement there.
  13. The action on the field and the results have been wonderful. But also add in the fact that this really has been a total team effort. Its sometimes cliche and gratuitous to include the last guy on the roster in the spoils of the success. But the aspect of the pitching staff usage and the mixing and matching of the position players along the way has added something to it.
  14. It’s going to suck if they leave. But salary caps will not lower costs for fans (again, you’re assumption earlier in this thread) nor does it completely level the playing field for smaller market teams. But how about this. How about just enjoy where the team is right here right now?
  15. That’s a good point.
  16. I’m not the one making the assumption that a cap in sports helps smaller market teams.
  17. I’ll be honest. This Tiger team hasn’t stressed me. It’s been enjoyable to see these kids playing well and the in game management has been great. I’d have never guessed the pitching would perform this well, especially when they were short on traditional starters.
  18. The Pistons agree.
  19. Beating either will be gratifying.
  20. Crud, I missed that.
  21. Can we wait until we congratulate the 2024 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers before fiddling with next season's roster, please?
  22. Might as well win the series.
  23. The torque on Prince Fielder's swings were ridiculous. If not the main culprit, that had to have at least contributed significantly to his early retirement. Now having typed what I've typed about Guerrero Jr's body not being in for the long haul, he'll probably morph into Schwarber Jr.
  24. Selfishly, since I wasn't able to watch/listen, I'm OK with it. but I'd be OKer with it if the Twins had also lost, so that kind'of sucks.
  25. Killian Hayes to the Nets.
