  1. I kind of like the maths nerdery in here.
  2. None of these should cost much in terms of years and annual salary and draft compensation. Kim is probably looking at a shorter term deal given his injury recovery. I would think 2 seasons would work. He may not be ready for opening day, and that’s fine. Something likely occurs by the time he’s ready to return. Injury, demotion, trade, something will happen. Yates fits because he’s an end of game option and won’t command many years either. Maybe a couple of seasons here as well? Walks are a smidge high for me, but maybe the pitching brain trust has the salve for that. Sasaki still seems like a pipe dream. But, anyone please correct me if I’m wrong, the Tigers are in position to offer him towards the higher end right off of the bat? Maybe that means he’d take that as a shorter term deal at highest possible in order to build his MLB resume for a higher payoff later? I don’t know. I suppose of the trio, Kim and Yates seem most valuable. While I think signing Sasaki would be great, I think the Tigers have proven they can create some SP value out of a reclaimed arm.
  3. Yeah, now that I think of it, maybe they were Fleer rather than Topps. But that was the time frame.
  4. Could you imagine if they used that for the in season pool games? Neat-o!
  5. To @Betrayer’s point, they’re still a young team that has to learn this process.
  6. We’re witnessing Cunningham warp into his next dimension. So fun to see it. It’s too bad he had a few injuries to plow through in previous seasons. Hey, better late than never. The turnovers are still an issue. And I didn’t like his final shot, I’d have preferred he drove to the basket. But, he wasn’t exactly getting the calls last night either, so maybe the result is still a missed basket that is rebounded by the Lakers with enough time to get a shot off.
  7. Reading the transactions for players on basketball reference can be quite interesting with regard to tracking how many times a draft pick has been moved before it was used on a player. For example, the pick used to draft Klintman was traded 4 times before it was used to pick Klintman. Then he was traded about 10 days later.
  8. No wonder Davis is questionable.
  9. Well, I was gonna text him, but I don’t have his number.
  10. Maybe Buehler just digs the UCLA Red Sox jerseys?
  11. He’s starting to get good at harmless looking drives into the lane that end in a dunk. He had that one finished off with a lefty dunk a couple of games ago. He had a somewhat similar righty dunk in this game. Just looks like he’s going to lay it up or float it and all of a sudden he hammers it home.
  12. You just have to put more peanut butter or jelly on the toast. But I don’t think that will work with either Goldschmidt or Rizzo.
  13. Oh, those sticker books from Topps? Those must have come to be due to the more broad sticker collecting craze of the time. Yeah, I think I’d have enough money to buy the annual book and then maybe a few packs and that’d be it. I should have just stuck with the traditional baseball cards (which, ok, I don’t have those anymore either).
  14. The Twitters were jammed I bet.
  15. That’s a lot of pregame drinking.
  16. Of the three, I’d’of preferred Santana.
  17. Goldschmidt is toast. How do you like your toast?
  18. As for the TV ratings, I don’t know how much of a factor, if at all, that today’s FCS games were on ABC whereas the FBS playoff games in the same window were on TBS or TNT. I suppose the FCS games were already contractual before the FBS playoffs were born, so, OK, I understand that part. I guess TNT/TBS is probably basic on all services, but maybe not.
  19. It’s too bad he didn’t go 3rd person when he took to the microphone after becoming the all time stolen base leader. It just occurred to me that this was the last season of Rickey Henderson Field in Oakland.
  20. Wasn’t on my list either.
  21. This is probably true enough to be wise advice, but I got sucked into the hope of another win, then I got sucked into the car wreck nature of the 1st quarter, then I got sucked into the comeback, then I got sucked into chippy nature on the court, then the game was over and I realized I had just watched two hours of futility and it sucked.
  22. Doesn’t Ishbia have baggage?
  23. I think we all knew what the likely culprits of pitching injuries were. But what can be and/or is going to be done about it?
  24. Best defensive stand of the night.
