  1. Mike Trout is the 3rd highest paid hitter and Gerrit Cole is the 3rd highest paid pitcher. Ottani is making just under what the two of them make put together. Good job by his agent to get him paid as BOTH a pitcher AND a hitter. Angels OF Mike Trout: $37,116,666 Yankees SP Gerrit Cole: $36,000,000
  2. That is just insane. I can't imagine that the last 4 years of that contract are going to be pleasant. But who knows....
  3. I'm so sorry for being unclear in my post..."future winter meetings". I will try to do better in the future.
  4. It seems like the purpose of the winter meetings has changed. With the now constant communication these GMs have available to them, do they really need a face to face meeting in order to get a deal done? Maybe it helps a little bit, but not like it did in the past when you had to negotiate over the phone or fly out to visit. I'm kind of planning on yawning during the winter meetings.
  5. One possibility is that they are rewarding well rounded players and are willing to leave players in the minors in order to work on aspects of their game that aren't ready. Meadows and Lipcius are ready to be tested in every aspect of their games both offense and defense. Malloy's bat is ready but his defense isn't. So, the message to the whole system is to work at all aspects of your game and be a well rounded player.
  6. My favorite giveaway memory...A few years ago I happened to go when they were giving away Miguel Cabrera picture frames and since I always get there early I got one. Honestly, I didn't really want one. So, on the way out after the game I saw a kid about 7 years old, asked him if he wanted it, and made him promise to be a Tiger fan forever. He was THRILLED and I enjoyed that more than having it sit on my shelf somewhere. I did absolutely love my replica '68 jersey. That was a great giveaway.
  7. That picture must have been taken during a 2003 home game.
  8. Subscribing to MLB for $3 a month during baseball season to get Dan Dickerson on the radio is worth it.
  9. If your entry gate has run out when you go in, rush to another entry gate and walk through the line like you just had your ticket scanned. Don’t ask if you can because they will say no. My buddy stood there arguing that he was one of the first 15,000 people and therefore deserved a jersey. I just snuck into the line and waived my jersey at him as I walked past. He soon followed my lead.
  10. Looks fine to me. The Astros and the Mets have horrible looking sponsor patches on their uniforms.
  11. I just remember being that the game when Darnell Coles wished he would have been wearing a cup while playing 3B.
  12. On another note...I don't get TV so I enjoyed the Tigers as the free game of the week last week. But listening to Gibson was painful. There was no chemistry between the two announcers at all. I know you have all talked about the TV broadcast before, but I finally got to confirm how right all of you are about how bad it is.
  13. My wife was listening in to the radio broadcast when Maybin was on and she commented on how he constantly sounded excited in a fake way. I did like what he had to say. Hopefully he learns as he gets experience to just to engage in conversation and then get excited when appropriate.
  14. Not complaining. I read them all and enjoy reading them. I just laugh that everyone seems to be future all-stars, even if they were claimed off waivers.
  15. And don't forget the annual "Franklin Perez is still here too" piece that came out already.
  16. I hope this NEVER happens...since I only listen to the radio broadcast.
  17. Although that inside information did NOT include Kody's correct name.
  18. This kind of signing is exactly what I would expect for this year and am happy to see it.
  19. I like the move and am happy to have Boyd back for the year. He fills a hole...is a leader and good influence for the young pitchers he already knows...could be a decent starter. I'm also glad someone else paid 5+ million for his recovery year.
  20. I'm always sad when the season ends...no matter how good or bad the team is.
  21. I would assume you are correct, not me. So, everyone else should assume you are correct too. 🙂
  22. If I am correct, this game matters. It is a MUST LOSE game for us. If we win and Texas loses, Texas will be the 6th team and included in the 1-6 draft pick lottery and we will be left with pick #7.
  23. How about that...Cabrerra 1st to 3rd on a WP. It's like he's 29 instead of 39. (Although it took too much out of him so he couldn't score on the fly ball.)
  24. Waiting this long to pick is horrible. I'm glad we will be picking sooner next year! 🙄
