  1. I don't know anything about Guardians of the Galaxy, but I do know about the Old 97's. this makes it two xmas songs that I actually like.
  2. ugh. sorry, man. take care.
  3. She obviously has none.
  4. I can't say that country is really my thing, but I like some country-adjacent stuff, mostly Blue Rodeo and Old 97's. dug this one out the other day—forgot how much I like this song.
  5. that happened at a previous job of mine, but rather than everything breaking when my manager tried to get away, it was everything breaking after I'd gone out of town. my coworkers hated it when I'd leave because they knew they'd be fighting fires and sweeping ashes.
  6. from the comments of one of those tweets ^^
  7. I wish I could find a video of The State sketch where they're eating Muppets.
  8. Ginni, funny running into you here...
  9. ouch, that's a bummer. and pretty weird, too. doesn't seem to take much to total out an older car. but what's on your side is that the car is still drivable and the airbags didn't go off. if the only problems are the hood and the bumper and not anything in the engine compartment or axles/tie rods/etc, you could be ok. fingers crossed.
  10. I'm not sure it's quite passed yet (NPR hasn't called it, for example), but it's doing pretty well, leading by about 30k votes. probably mostly Multnomah/Washington County ballots left, which is in its favor. in any case, I'm extremely pleased that "yes" shows every sign of holding its lead.
  11. another thing we've got going on here in Oregon.
  12. whoops, put these in the wrong thread. moving them here for posterity. good to see this, on the other hand... at least 'yes' is winning, but jesus h.
  13. it's done by a roll-call vote of all House members.
  14. A few years ago, when the ReachNow car-share service was around, I'd occasionally rent a BMW for a one-way drive, and I found that popping it into neutral when stopped would start the engine back up.
  15. AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  16. It's kind of shit from a company of that size. I got 4 or 5 months from a company of ~2500 when I got laid off in 2020. (Of course it was fewer than 20 people getting axed, not half the company.) Stripe gave their folks a similarly sweet deal the other day, as did Mozilla in late 2020.
  17. Big ol' substation explosion/fire in my part of town, maybe a mile or so away like this Graves lady.
  18. I'm reading that the laid-off employees are remaining on payroll until Feb to meet NY's 90-day WARN law.
  19. ouch. sorry to hear that. I also lost two of my then-three in the summer of 2020, six weeks apart. this is Grizzly, who had developed a habit of tapping me on the belly when she wanted pets while I was working. I miss her a ton. VID_20200521_142102_2.mp4 and yes, Lacey's a beauty!
