  1. Yes, good old Ralph, "who had managed the Yankees to World Series wins" lol!!!, was hired as a caretaker of the mid-70's crap teams while the best of the Bill Lajoie drafts was still percolating in the minors, and then when his time was up after 1978 and I so so very desperately wanted the job to go to Jim Leyland but they gave it to Les Moss instead, I was crushed.
  2. He read those, and put on some extra cologne.
  3. Malloy in particular has nothing left to prove, he has a .420 OBP at every level. If that means he can do .375 in the majors he needs to be there.
  4. Lol he sounds like every other crook: "forces behind the scenes have repeatedly attempted to silence my voice"
  5. Another route that works is to be the half-wit son of a famous baseball executive, like Smith and McHale.
  6. My complaint about Willi was that if corner OF was his best position he didn't have enough bat to be there.
  7. Manning has 50 strikeouts in 78 innings???
  8. I think a lot of people did. And while it is nice for him to be playing better this year, a guy who misses 35 games still doesn't deliver the value that you would hope for.
  9. "Springtime for Hitler"?
  10. Over this coming winter he has to be penciled in as a lock for the rotation, with a WHIP of 1.11 as of right now.
  11. I agree. He will get lots of rope, along with Vierling and Maton, to justify the Harris transactions. But you can't carry all 3 of them. Maybe not even 2 of them.
  12. It's really easy to like that kid and I hope that we don't keep him out after his curfew.
  13. Hey there's Jason Heyward, still built like a marble sculpture of a Greek God. He's got a good year going, missed some time with injuries of course, and has an OPS of .857, the highest of his career. If he can sustain that to the end of the year, it will be only the second time since 2012 that he has had an OPS of over .800, and fourth time in a 14-year career. And that is just freaking amazing, how little he accomplished after his rookie performance at the age of 20.
  14. Now that you mention it, it seems like your front elbow on the bat would be more stressful.
  15. This injury could cost Malloy his chance at making the team, if Greene is ready for opening day but can only DH.
  16. That could be. According to what I just read, the Braves have the 8th highest payroll, although only $6 million higher than the Red Sox. It's the best front office in baseball.
  17. I just heard that one yesterday, the definition of "surreal" lol!
  18. You look way younger than 50.
  19. Same here, no problem.
  20. I saw a great gambling story, Kevin Pollak telling it to Rich Eisen. He said that Walter Matthau was such a committed gambler that at his funeral on the back of the paper showing the order of service were Walter's picks for the games coming up that week.
  21. That's how you do it. The owners of the bottom 10 teams are asking their GM's "why can't we be like the Braves"? And the response has been "the game has changed". Which makes those owners roll their eyes.
  22. I tried several times to learn the names of the Toledo rotation, but would always forget them immediately.
  23. I know, I'm bracing myself for the next person to tell me that "the game has changed".
  24. Yes or I want my money back.
