  1. Danny Murtaugh's son Tim played minor league ball for a while. He managed in Salem for a season in the early 70s. Danny had retired (briefly) then. He was at the game with his toddler grandson. I wasn't one to just walk up to a celebrity then. Talked my younger brother into asking for an autograph.
  2. Listening to the Mets TV team. Used to listen Gary Cohen back in the 80s. He spent some time doing the Norfolk Tides broadcast in those days. Incidently he was employed at the same radio station as Bob Rathbun. They were here at the same time.
  3. They still have a piece of my heart. Family homestead was about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, near McKeesport. I was 8 in 1960. My son was born 9 months after the We Are Family Bucs won the series. When we moved south in the mid '60, one of the Pirates farm clubs were in nearby Salem, first as their Rookie League team, then Class A Salem. It was fun watching guys like Dave Parker, Ed Ott, John Candelaria and Omar Moreno come up in the minors.
  4. First time I've ever seen that call. Umpire interference
  5. Sorry for the double post above. Two topics on one replay. Getting old and multi tasking is hell sometimes
  6. To me the false argument is trying to argue about the pandemic economy vs the current state. I can go back to 2017 when we sold our house and began downsizing. A two bedroom bath ranch apartment cost us about 1300 a month in March of 2017. It was a move in special on a 16 month lease....it went up to just over 1600 when we renewed in 2018. If we would have renewed the end of 2020 it would have been around 1800 or more. Now they're asking about 2050 for the same apartment. Our current Mortgage for a similar sized townhouse is about 1400 a month. Gas prices fluctuated as they always do under every administration. Food prices have gone up just about every year since I moved out of my parents home in 1973, but then I'm also making more than $150 a week than I did back then and thank to things like IRA's and HSA's were in decent shape. Hell yes I'm better off than I was 4 or even 8 years ago.
  7. Not saying there was an economic plan but some people forget that Obama's successor's staff basically tore up and trashed a plan to deal with a possible pandemic
  8. I don’t think Jimmy Buffett was a Trump support, at least not overtly
  9. Throw in a large number of very rich people who pay people next to nothing to do their bidding. Because taxes…
  10. If he had been a normal Joe Schmoe who didn’t become a MAGA media darling how could he have afforded the Eliza Dolittle treatment. Not surprised the Dr Frankenstein Party and media created a monster
  11. You would think something like that would be attended to well before the game not in the 8th inning of the second home series. Horrible franchise, If I still lived there it would be enough to make me a Kane County fan
  12. They've canceled schools here as well. But since it seems most of the districts are on Easter (Spring) break this week, it doesn't seem like a huge deal to tack on another day. They could just easily call it a pollen day. I had an inkling this morning to try to head over to Wallops Island since NASA has planned a couple of test rockets to study the event. The three hour drive on heels of a long weekend in Durham made me quickly nix that. I'm sure it's also nearly impossible to find lodging nearby. We're a bit to far to clearly see a daytime launch here, I've seen a couple night time ones.
  13. Is Damd Yankees still running
  14. Or ships from Massachusetts
  15. Tale of two campaigns
  16. 1836…Battle of San Jancinto, Sam Houston defeated Santa Anna to win Texas Independence.
  17. That’s what happens when you assign scheduling to AI
  18. Maybe when they get a bit older. The region is very family friendly. One of the plans on the drawing board (not CW related) is an indoor sports complex in an effort to draw travel teams.
  19. Expand the trip. Spend a couple of days in Williamsburg. Patrick Henry was known to throw a wicked curve ball
  20. Just curious if anyone has seen or heard any rumblings concerning 4/19. My wife mentioned seeing or hearing some concern about that date in her conversations. She's definitely not into "wacky" theories but is involved with things like the America 250 celebration and some semi political groups pushing civility in politics, particularly the National Governors Association push to "argue better". Anyway, the theory goes like this April 19 is a red letter day for some radical groups. The Battles of Lexington and Concord began on this date in 1775. 4/19/1993 was the date of the Oklahoma City bombing. Waco happened in 1993. Columbine in 1999. There are a couple of other dates that could be construed as important by conspiracy minded people. It might be a good day to stay in bed.
  21. I go back to the 1270 Points thing. Got sucked in and never left.
  22. What? Nothing on the schedule to brush up his war paint?
