Another documentary worth checking out, Chuck Leavell, The Tree Man. probably the best rock pianist around. Played with the Allman Brothers in their prime, toured with the Stones and served as their musical director, founded Sea Level, not to mention recorded and toured with Clapton, John Mayer, Govmt Mule, among others. He's also a tree farmer in Georgia and co founder of the Mother Nature Network.

And a solution to "Half Backs" settling in Western NC apparently as well

I'm old enough to remember when certain parts of the Republican Party were torpedoing George Bush's proposals for boarder security and pathways for citizenship. Remember his "jobs Americans don't want" comments...

I have a feeling that's one of my nephew in law's attitude. We've never discussed politics. They live on farm property in rural SW Va, he's built himself a range there. He seems to like long range rifles.

Don't let him back in. He's a spy

I'm seeing a bit of discussion about Fast Car and Luke Combs. I like this pairing and the fact that Combs had wanted to record Fast Car since he was introduced to it by his father many years ago. I'm now seeing that the Tracy Chapman album with Fast Car is one of the top downloads this morning, introducing her to a whole new group.

I'm just some old fart sitting in Virginia. I have no clue. All I know is since 2009 anything a Democratic President proposes it will be opposed by the opposition. While Republicans yell and scream and all they accomplish is tax breaks for rich people. By the way anybody notice that a large number of new home construction workers are Hispanic?

Trump had a Republican Congress for two years, 2017-2019, and didn't do a damn thing about the Mexican crossings other than halfway build a half assed wall. No legislation dealing with businesses that intentionally hire illegals or anything resembling funding for enforcement. They only made it harder for seasonal workers who in the past have been legally entitled to enter the country on work visas. Making it harder for seasonal businesses (see hotels and restaurants in tourist friendly workers to find help). They had their chance, they blew it and if they get another they'll blow it again. These will be the same people complaining that "nobody wants to work anymore"

I didn't catch much of the show but viewing the clip of 80 year old Joni Mitchell doing Both Sides Now and me reflecting on how the meaning of the song changes as we age was something special. Cudos to Brandi Carlisle for befriending her and introducing Ms Mitchell to a new audience. In fact I think I prefer the older almost tenor Ms Mitchell to the younger soprano version. The Luke Combs/Tracy Chapman duet was also pretty special

I looked it up it is plus 7. At my age I'm probably better off with the older number. edit I've been married for 45 years, so it doesn't matter.

Dean Phillips finished third to Maryanne Williamson who is rapidly becoming the Harold Stassen of the Democrats.

Definitely fits within the calculus of half my age plus 15 category.

No Buddy's or Little Caesar's...what a cheapskate.

Dear Jim, When you get around to answering your subpoenas I'll think about this. until then stuff it where the Sun doesn't shine Respectfully, Franni

Forget the Swift/Kelce drama. Patrick Stewart singing along with Creed has the early lead in Super Bowl commercials

For Commander fans Quinn is an upgrade over the corpse of Rivera.

The end line about not learning that in high school was from JVL not the authors of the filing. But, I've been saying that here in Billsburg for the last couple of years. The information I've gleaned from the historian/actors here has been a total eye opener. Nothing close to what you find in public grade schools or most basic college government/history classes.

nobody wants to go there

From today's Bullwerk some interesting history on the 14th Amendment.... this is from a brief filed by Akil and Vikram Amar in the Trump 14th Amendment case... https://open.substack.com/pub/thebulwark/p/the-14th-amendment-wasnt-a-creative?r=45wcm&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email

Another note on the Commanders/Johnson thing. Houston's Bobby Slowick, who also interviewed twice, decided to stick with his team. It makes you wonder whether the interview process in Washington raised a few red flags with the younger OCs. That and as of now Martin Mayhew still has the GM title, though that may change in the future. i wonder if Jay Gruden orBill Callahan are still available.

i was just robocalled for a survey from my Congress Critter. i'm sure Congressman Rob "Shipyard" Whitman will have my name removed from the list. Unfortunately it was multiple choice, not true or false.

i tend to agree. The Packers, Bears and Vikings are a step or two above UAlbany and Monmouth

I don't think it hurts to take an interview. I've had calls from companies wanting to offer me jobs, went for the interview and after a couple of days contemplating a move felt it was in both of our best interests to pass. Now I don't know about Johnson's case in particular, maybe he decided that being a head coach in Washington put him under too much of a microscope at 37, 38 years old. Maybe after Detroit's run this season he felt that maybe one more year here would be moe beneficial to his career and his family's stability that keeping them in a stable environment in Detroit rather moving them to Northern Virginia or the Maryland suburbs. He's young, there will be other options if the Lions continue on their current tract.
