We moved to Detroit from Chicago in December 2000. The first game we attended was the last game of the regular season against the then hapless Bears, just needing a win to make the playoffs.

I just checked Wikipedia, it looks like Frank Beckman was the fill in from 1999 to 2001. WJR still would have had the radio broadcasts, at least in 1999 and 2000. Fox Sports Detroit the TV rights
I will add this. There is a small but growing movement among a small group of politician's led by Utah Gov Spencer Cox and Jared Polis of Colorado. It's called disagree better. We've reached the point here the parties are talking past each other. Heck, it goes back to Washington who was opposed to political parties...
This may be the first step. I admit to being a bit hopeful in finding our better angels.
