They deserve each other Cue the Pat Benatar song

He's running...just over 1 year experience in government and a failure in business (he was forced out @ the Carlyle Group). A MAGA in Red Fleece. Beware of false prophets.

Maybe Bruce (Catlyn) needs to look in a mirror...

Back in the days when I golfed a bit, I had a friend who hit a low line drive off the tee and took out a bird (it wasn't a goose, probably closer to a starling or mocking bird that inhabited the course) After his shot he turned to his partner. "I told you I'd get a birdie on this hole"

The big problem with goats is they tend to over fertilize.

Evidently she's still there. Maybe... My hope is they give her a show from 2-4 AM Eastern time. Basically what radio did back in the day with personalities they couldn't afford to fire because they were dumb enough to give them huge contracts.

And the beat goes on…and on and on

This should be an interesting case. Considering a certain "conservative" Governor who ran on school and classroom choice. The mothers here basically say I respect you not wanting your child to read certain books, but in doing so don't restrict MY Child from reading...

Is Andy Dirks in the radio booth today? Still trying to get used to the new voices.

This kinda goes back to the college realignment discussion. The Super Conference have become more of a minor league than they were in the past. The better option would be to affiliate with one of the lesser leagues. That would be closer to what was loosely tried back in the late 60s and early 70s with entities like the Atlantic Coast Football League that had a loose affiliation with NFL teams at the time

And for a while Mets games as well. Your choice was Harry Carey, Ralph Kiner or the Braves guys. -

This is the time of year where a lot of school groups are at the ballpark -
It seems Meadows had a case of COVID in 2020 as well. A bit of digging found this article. https://www.tampabay.com/sports/rays/2021/03/02/rays-austin-meadows-looks-to-bounce-back-after-being-set-back-by-coronavirus/ Considering, the injuries after the trade as well as a second round of COVID, not to mention whatever upheaval the trade to Detroit may have caused late in Spring training. Hopefully he can recover, it seems like a lot of stress in a fairly short amount of time.

That whole area has exploded since we lived there in the mid to late 90s. My son graduated from Waubansee High School. It looks like they've opened up a new school next to our old subdivision. I liked the area, close to the Prairie Path for biking. The Metra stop was about a mile or so from the house. Hated RT 59 however

I have no real clue where Chicago's "Southside" starts. Is it south of Grant Park or somewhere near Midway? My Aurora remark came from an incident about 25 or so years ago. A group of developers/realtors were holding a "Homarama", showing new home models on the Naperville/Aurora line. Technically they were in Aurora but were advertising themselves as Naperville, especially with the school system. Aurora's mayor at the time got a bit upset and turned off the city water to the site until they changed the ads.

I'm confused. Does the father live on the "southside" ? What is he doing in Naperville? Why are they interviewing people in Naperville about Chicago politics? What's with the Tigers' cap on a guy from Chicago's southside who happened to wander into Naperville. Is it actually in Naperville or are they in the part of Aurora that pretends to be Napervilly. So many questions.

For those of us old enough to remember Square Dancing in school, who knew that the roots of promoting it came from the "great mind" of Henry Ford who believed that jazz and dances at the time were created by the Jewish people as part of a plot to corrupt the masses and take over the world.... https://qz.com/1153516/americas-wholesome-square-dancing-tradition-is-a-tool-of-white-supremacy?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_axioslocal_richmond&stream=top

Seriously, I get where you’re coming from. I don’t consider either school to ever be a consistent football powerhouse. UVA is like Northwestern in many ways. I’m well aware of its academic reputation, my wife was in the school’s first co-ed class. I just never think of them as a football powerhouse, ever. I go back to the bad ole Don Lawrence, Sonny Randle days. I grew up closer to Tech and see them more as a Purdue type. Comparing Tech to UVA is like comparing U of M to Michigan State culture wise. If you look at their records during the Jerry Claiborne, Bill Dooley and Frank Beamer years I think you’ll find VPI&SU had a more consistent program. Academically UVA had better press (thank you Thomas Jefferson) but it has a big party school rep as well. Tech is considered blue collar still by some but outside of lawyers I think most employers would seriously consider Tech grads. Unfortunately they still have the Cow College rep

The Triangle area of NC has long been a hockey hotbed. Some great minor league teams in Charlotte and Greensboro back in the day with the old Eastern Hockey League (see Slapshot). Throw in the number of folks from Northeastern cities moving into the area, along with folks moving halfway back from Florida, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina

Here's an interesting piece from 2022 about the future of Tech and the possibilities for ACC teams. Basically the thinking is outside Notre Dame and possibly Clemson there really not much draw for either the Big 10 or the ACC. Basically leaving most of the ACC teams in second or third tier status. https://theathletic.com/3415782/2022/07/12/virginia-tech-acc-conference-realignment/ I've always disliked the agreement the ACC made with the FB team from South Bend. Allowing them to poach bowl games without becoming a fully pledged member. Let the big guys become pro feeding grounds, I'd love to see a conference with UVa, VaTech, WVA, Pitt and a few other Appalachian region teams (Cincinnati, Louisville, maybe Marshall and bring back say Maryland and UNC, NC State)
