  1. I think my parents had one when they were house hunting in the late 60s. Or at least I knew they were looking for something similar concerning perceived credit issues. They figured buying might be a bit easier than trying to rent to a family with six kids. I do know the mortgage for the house in 1968 was somewhere near $12,000 with the monthly payment around $125 a month. Cheaper than my apartments in the '70s
  2. Erie wins 9-3. They'll play in Richmond Thursday
  3. Serrerri with a 3 run homer 6-1 Erie bottom of the fifth.
  4. Olsen done after 5. 1 run 10K's a nice play to end the inning on a slow roller to the right of the mound. Erie up 2-1 going into the bottom of the 5th. Harris went 3 for Richmond.
  5. Tied at 1 bottom of the 3rd...
  6. It's a free game on MiLB.com
  7. Someone explain this reasoning to me like a third grader, or Republican...
  8. Sorry, but I spent most of the day parked down by the lake. In my case it was actually a river.
  9. Rather than a new thread I'll dump this here. Remember the podcast a few years back...
  10. Both Dombrowski and Avilia held duel titles of PBO and GM. I would assume final decision on GM will be up to Harris. He has a nice pedigree even if the Giants took a couple of steps back this season.
  11. Think someone should tell him
  12. I'm still sticking with 6 wins for the season.
  13. I take it back to the Earl Weaver years. They were darlings of the AL during the Yankees and Red Sox down period. Great pitching staffs. When the All Star game was in Detroit several years ago I was sitting on a bench just outside the media festivities waiting on my wife to return from the restroom. A little guy came and sat near me. He looked familiar. He left just as my wife showed up. It wasn't until he walked away that I realized who it was. Probably I good thing since I was a Pirate fan in the 60s and 70s.
  14. DC screwed themselves by going for two in the third quarter...
  15. I listened to part of the DC radio pregame show. They were talking about how the Lions were over rated because of Hard Knocks. I may have to tune in at halftime,
  16. Flores took a no hitter into the sixth inning tonight in Richmond. Ended his night 6 innings 1 hit 8 Ks Navigato hit his 18th homer 2 rbi Serretti 3-4 all singles so far 5-1 Erie bottom of 8
  17. One of those jobs nobody wants?
  18. Morning background music. She's a fairly new artist with some old school soul sounds. It definitely passed the "drop the needle" test
  19. I'm old enough to remember way back when the flag was still in play in CF Sammy Sosa hitting one. He did his patented HR Hop, then watched as the ball fell harmlessly into the outfielder's glove. Fun times.
  20. It's bad enough they bring their bad driving habits to Virginia. When I was young (10 or so) my dad had an interview and possible job offer with a nursery in NJ. We lived in Western Pa then. Mom put her foot down. "I am not raising 4 kids along side a busy highway in NJ"
  21. A quick check on Zillow shows rents starting at $1500 for anything decent. I figure it's about par for the area. Especially since it's a tourist/college/military area with a lot of retirees.
  22. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/chicago-suburb-says-it-didnt-know-dozens-of-migrants-were-being-sent-from-chicago-as-more-buses-arrived-in-city/2934565/ Reading between the lines, the logical explanation is that Chicago officials working with the Salvation Army who intern while looking for temporary lodging found a suitable place in Burr Ridge for temporary housing while suitable long term options could be found. Does the Salvation Army need special permission from that city's officials to make motel reservations now? It looks to me like a private agreement between a non profit and a business...
