  1. Damn, I thought that was Amedeo Obici (Founder of Planters Peanuts)
  2. Re slavery, I learned something today during a presentation at Colonial Williamsburg. I only caught part of the story as we were just resting under the giant oak for a bit. Anyway, during the pre Revolutionary times slaves could buy their freedom if they could afford to. They still needed permission from the Colonial Governor and pay a "Freedom Tax". The tax was good for 6 years and the rate increased incrementally every time. If they couldn't afford the tax, back into bondage. Interesting that part of history never came up when we were taught in high school 50 years ago. I doubt that it comes up today.
  3. I'd throw VaTech into the mix as well. Very similar to MSU educationally. Like UVa borderline in sports. They're competitive, not great.
  4. Nothing shows respect for the flag than over commercializing it
  5. https://www.motorsportsgateway.com/garages This is what I was asking about. They just received approval from Howell
  6. This tweet held up well.. Unfortunately
  7. The case, called Moore v. Harper, is centered on newly drawn maps of voting districts for North Carolina's 14 seats in the next U.S. House of Representatives. Republican state lawmakers want to resurrect a map that North Carolina's state courts struck down, finding that the map approved by the GOP-controlled legislature violated multiple provisions in the state's constitution by giving Republican candidates an unfair advantage through partisan gerrymandering. A court-drawn map has been put in place instead for this year's midterm elections. In their appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, however, the Republican lawmakers argue that the U.S. Constitution's Elections Clause gives state legislatures the power to determine how congressional elections are conducted without any checks and balances from state constitutions or state courts.
  8. I thought the GOP hated radical activist judges...
  9. Verlander is in the same boat is Greg Maddux (Cubs/Braves) and guys like Dave Winfield ( Padres/Yankees) even possibly Gary Carter (went in as an Expo but he wanted a Mets Cap). Best solution is no team logo since very few payers spend a majority of their career with one team anymore. What team would Scherzer represent if he were elected?
  10. I don't think GA Trumplicans could have chosen a worse candidate.
  11. She has brains, I'm just not sure she has developed political street smarts yet...
  12. Mississippi has the highest infant mortality rate, highest fetal mortality rate and the lowest lifetime expectancy rate in the country. Maternal mortality is 1.9 times higher than the country's average. The folks who claim to be pro life are actually pro birth. They don't give a damn what happens next.
  13. It's almost if he opens his mouth it's a lie
  14. It was 43 years ago the world lost Lowell George. They say the cause was an extra large pizza on the NJ Turnpike.
  15. His replacement has been confirmed. The term is over. Time to get out of Dodge
  16. I remember several years ago the Tigers and their flagship radio station did a promotion around Higgenson. They designated the left field bleachers as Higgy's Back Yard or something similar. If you remember the song Gettin Higgy With It...negotiations with Will Smith took quite a while before he gave them permission.
  17. True. I also understand that the vehicle used by POTUS was no the big limo. It was an SUV which is a bit smaller. Still I think the SS agents may have stretched what happened 1/6
  18. One more thing to keep in mind SS Agent Tony Ornato (whose storyMs Hutchinson was repeating) was allowed by the Secret Service to take a temporary leave to become White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Trump. His duties included helping to set up the photo op when Trump marched to the Episcopal church clutching a Bible. He's also helped coordinate several Trump COVID spreading rallies during the Summer of 2020. Rallies that left several members of the Secret Service exposed to the virus. It seems he has his own credibility problems.
  19. That's what mobsters, Trump supporters and Faux Nuuze commentators do. They get a hold one item and hold on to it like a puggle with a rope. Ignoring all other facts while spewing their own lies. And then get all huffy if you call them on it.
