These do not look appetizing at all. Especially coming from a supposedly top line venue like Doral. I have seen spreads at the local public course. I sure hope they were served with a side order of Pepto Bisho

BTW I wouldn't be surprised if Bridgewater joined the Lions coaching staff in some capacity in the upcoming season
-
It wasn't like Bridgewater was sitting around all season with his team in Texas. At DC's press conference talking about the signing Campbell acknowledged that Bridgewater was working out. He also knew the most of the playbook from last season with the team so it wasn't like they were bringing in a complete unknown. There is also a lot more pressure in a playoff situation than a regular season game and at the time Bridgewater was inserted who knew how serious Geoff's injury was (he was in the tent). I'd much rather go with someone who has had more real game experience than someone who's been holding the clipboard all season. Last season was a lost year for him with his injury.

2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason

One bit of speculation I saw was with Bregman staying at third and Altuve in left would have Paredes moving to second. Doesn't really sound great to me. Seems like the Astros have a lot of aging DH's. -
1973.. The United States, South Vietnam, Viet Cong and North Vietnam formally sign“An Agreement Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam” in Paris. Due to South Vietnam’s unwillingness to recognize the Viet Cong’s Provisional Revolutionary Government, all references to it were confined to a two-party version of the document signed by North Vietnam and the United States—the South Vietnamese were presented with a separate document that did not make reference to the Viet Cong government. This was part of Saigon’s long-time refusal to recognize the Viet Cong as a legitimate participant in the discussions to end the war. The settlement included a cease-fire throughout Vietnam. In addition, the United States agreed to the withdrawal of all U.S. troops and advisors (totaling about 23,700) and the dismantling of all U.S. bases within 60 days. In return, the North Vietnamese agreed to release all U.S. and other prisoners of war. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/paris-peace-accords-signed?cmpid=email-hist-tdih-2025-0127|-01272025&om_rid=

On January 27, 1945, Soviet troops enter Auschwitz, Poland, freeing the survivors of the network of concentration camps—and finally revealing to the world the depth of the horrors perpetrated there. Auschwitz was really a group of camps, designated I, II, and III. There were also 40 smaller “satellite” camps. It was at Auschwitz II, at Birkenau, established in October 1941, that the SS created a complex, monstrously orchestrated killing ground: 300 prison barracks; four “bathhouses” in which prisoners were gassed; corpse cellars; and cremating ovens. Thousands of prisoners were also used for medical experiments overseen and performed by the camp doctor, Josef Mengele, the “Angel of Death.” https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/soviets-liberate-auschwitz?cmpid=email-hist-tdih-2025-0127|-01272025&om_rid= A launch pad fire during Apollo program tests at Cape Canaveral, Florida, kills astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom, Edward H. White II, and Roger B. Chaffee. An investigation indicated that a faulty electrical wire inside the Apollo 1 command module was the probable cause of the fire. The astronauts, the first Americans to die in a spacecraft, had been participating in a simulation of the Apollo 1launch scheduled for the next month. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/astronauts-die-in-launch-pad-fire

My wife was once told by the General Manager of a major station "A woman will never work morning drive on my station". Had a car dealer tell her to come back with your husband. (she was planning on paying cash) Been passed over for several promotions because of the "good ole boys" club. F em all. Especially since we have a president who basically got where he is because of a daddy who bailed him out several times. Trump is the poster boy for DEI

About a dozen years ago I was helping to man a booth at the Detroit Auto Show. TACOM had a booth highlighting some of their vehicles. PBS shared a table promoting the upcoming Ken Burns documentary on Viet NamThey were offering veterans a chance to share their experience, not only in Viet Nam but in other conflicts as well. We were told by TACOM to refrain from using the phrase "Thank you for your service" when talking with them. The reasoning was some vets find the phrase trite and impersonal, a bit like "have a good day". We were urged to come up with different ways to acknowledge their contribution. That's stuck with me.

I'm on board. They're one of four teams I've had geographic ties to. Pittsburgh, Washington (Hogs era) Chicago and Detroit. Lions have been the most recent and I love DC and company, Washington goes back to the George Allen days. Now that new ownership is there (F.Dan Snyder).

26 JANUARY 1775, LONDON: The House of Commons rejects by a heavy margin a petition from Massachusetts’s agents (Benjamin Franklin, Arthur Lee and William Bollan) to present the First Continental Congress’s petition to the privy council. Among those who vote against the petition is the backbench MP Lord George Germain. During the debate Germain says he would be happy to hear petitions from America, “but if they resisted for what they call their rights, he would treat them with Roman severity.” https://bsky.app/profile/revwar250.bsky.social/post/3lgnrsgood62p

2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason

I remember times like that. Did it a few times back in the day. My all time favorite was the winter of 1979. We lived in Richmond, Va, my wife worked for WRVA ( One of the old 50 thousand watt blow torches). I was not working radio at the time. I had just finished closing the Arby's I was working at the time, put chains on my Pinto, and started home. I heard her boss on the radio and mentioned it to her. He said come on in. It was the morning man, her boss, the overnight guy who usually did his trucker show from a truck stop about 30 miles away. We spent the night in the sales manager's office, I think there was about 14 inches on the ground the next morning. I ended up manning the switchboard. It was the only time in my career that not one person called to ask if schools were closed. Just a lot of business and group closing announcements, -
If you get a chance watch The Six Triple Eight. It's about Lt Col Charity Adams, the first African American woman to command overseas during WWII. The mission involved leading the 6888 Central Postal Directory in England during WWII. They renamed Ft Lee after her and Gen Arthur Gregg, who was instrumental in desegregating the army. Including Ft Lee

I really don't consider Episcopalian's to be evangelistic. Trump's church as a kid was Presbyterian. Norman Vincent Peale, one of the early televangelists which was a Reformed church that broke away from the Presbyterians. He was one of the early Prosperity Gospel ministers. I see him and other MAGA's going in that direction. But yes, it will be Evangelical but that's a broad stroke. If that happens it will kill another plank of the Constitution. Freedom to worship where you damn please. That was another one of those reasons the Colonies broke from England.

Especially if you come to realize how divided the opinion was in the colonies. Most of the Merchant class still had localities to the crown because that's where the basis of their livelihood came from, supplying high end goods to the owners of large estates. Most of the landowners received their properties from land grants. (I do have one theory, while Washington was not rich (until he married the Widow Custis) me did quite well as a surveyor. I believe he was usually paid in portions of the land he surveyed. Especially since a lot of his clients were probably cash poor.
