  1. That’s close to how I’m seeing the Virginia Gubernatorial and other races this year. It’s going to be a bellwether for 2022. Youngkin is trying to play both sides of the GOP, admitting out loud that Biden won the election but still paying fealty to Godfather Donald. Attempting not to say much about topics like abortion, etc. The fact here is that areas like Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads and Richmond suburbs are gaining population and are trending blue. The rest of the state is deep deep Trump territory but are seeing large numbers of people leaving. If Youngkin can eek out a victory over McAuliffe, who is a centrist Democrat it could possibly be a blueprint for 2022 and 2024.
  2. But they would be islands in the Red Sea. Same here where there are streams of red among the larger blue areas. Bottom line I think we would end up with several small countries, all going bankrupt
  3. Was thinking about the secession thing while driving today, three hour trip across the state. I have no clue how one would draw country boundaries. Outside of Detroit, Oakland, Wayne and maybe Ann Arbor who else would go blue. Even if you had enough votes to keep the state part of the Blue Union the rest of the state would rebel. Pretty much the same here. Divide the state from the DC suburbs down to maybe just west and north of Richmond, throw in the Hampton Roads area north of the James River. The rest would probably form a Union with West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee etc…. The east could hook up with Maryland, New Jersey and the east coast. Not sure about Delaware. The were the wild card when this whole thing started around 1787.
  4. Got behind a guy on his small motorcycle doing just that today. I was on a back road going thru a small town. 45 mph speed limit, he was barely doing 30. I finally waited until there was a turn lane, still had a double line to pass him after about 3 miles. I kind of felt sorry for the guy, he had what looked like to be vet stickers on the back of the bike. The parade of cars behind me was getting long however.
  5. Both sides game the system. One side is just more blatant about it
  6. I’d just be happy if they made PACs illegal. Or at least taxed them at 90%
  7. He conveniently forgot about all the under the table money.
  8. I had to laugh at this…
  9. This was a cool topic in the old place. And I just happened to luck into a shot while camping near Hayes,Va this weekend
  10. They had three part harmony recorded three times. I would assume that would old be three tracks. https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/song/because/ BTW if you get a chance watch the series with McCartney and Rick Rubin on Hulu. McCartney 3-2-1. They get into some of the weeds of producing the music
  11. That’s the thing here that scares be about Youngkin. He’s trying to be Romney in the general but if you read between the lines his supporters are still Trump. At the same time I realize a lot of folks are lukewarm on MacAuliffe. And just about everyone west of Richmond has gone off the deep end.
  12. Then you have those that are trying to play it both ways. With a wink and a nod to the New Party, yet not saying anything that might lose them whatever toehold with the marginal, uninformed voters. Especially the traditional GOP.
  13. Baseball Reference says he was granted free agency in 2019. Signed with the Rangers who lost him to Houston in the Rule 5 draft a week or so later. He was returned to Texas. Sounds like his contract was up on Detroit and it was a mutual decision
  14. In this interview he was going after jeans for those of us at a certain age. I will not give them up. I expect to be creamated in them.
  15. I think Endeavour is part of a BBC/PBS agreement. I see Grantchester is scheduled to begin the new season in October. They usually air a couple of months after they run in Great Britain. We just finished Deadwater Fell. David Tennant makes a great villain
  16. All three have run on US TV as part of PBS Masterpiece franchise. We got hooked on Endeavour a couple of years ago then went on to Morse and Lewis. I agree the production qualities are a bit dated. The stories are good, I also enjoyed the novels.
  17. Inspector Morse has a bit more meat than Father Brown. It goes a bit more into the lead character’s makeup and background. I’d also try Grantchester…
  18. Not trying to reopen an old wound. But I think this interview with George Will might come close. Especially after he said those of us past a certain age should give up denim
  19. Not sure if they’re on Britbox, but you might want to check out Inspector Morse. Morse is based on a series of detective novels by Colin Dexter. I know Endeavour made it to PBS for a few seasons and may still be on Passport.
  20. Wading in deep here. There was a 1/6 memo…. http://cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2021/images/09/20/eastman.memo.pdf https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/20/politics/trump-pence-election-memo/index.html
  21. Campbell’s already starting to get that Lions coach dead man walking look…. Lambeau will do that to you…
  22. I was thinking 38-13 Green Bay. Rogers comes out with a chip on his shoulder after losing out on the Jeopardy gig (again). The Lions get no breaks in Wisconsin
