  1. This There is no Trump moment without manufactured rage. Just wait until these sheep lose their Medicare. Hell right now they’re having fits trying to decifer Medicare Advantage. It’s simple, under M-A you’re screwed
  2. Wasn’t that the Clinton strategy? At least she didn’t call Milwaukee a ****hole city
  3. I’m retired and in the place I want to be. As I’ve said recently I expect the country to lean more toward Orbanism than Nazism. I do fear the so called Christian Nationalist since their beliefs are nothing close to the teachings of Christ. I also wonder who’s going to do all those jobs Trump loving white people don’t want to do. Especially since those are the jobs Trumpers are claiming that “nobody wants to work anymore”
  4. "He gets to be lawless, she has to be flawless" Van Jones
  5. That's the argument I've been making with those who ask me how I'm voting. Trump had guardrails in 2016, both in his administration and in a divided Congress. If Harris wins it's still likely that at least one House of Congress will be Republican, and the Court isn't moving to the left any time soon. Trump will have both houses and the courts in his pocket.
  6. We friends of Lafayette are quite upset. Especially after all we did for him nearly 250 years ago.
  7. That's what they used to tell reporters before the corporate guys took over
  8. While I hope that we don't go as far as Germany, I do fear we approach Hungary and Victor Orban. Either way we can kiss our Republic goodbye https://thecycle.substack.com/p/what-really-happens-if-trump-wins?utm_source=multiple-personal-recommendations-email&utm_medium=email&triedRedirect=true
  9. Allow the 8 year old me to introduce you to the 7th game of the 1960 World Series. Yankees at Pirates, Forbes Field. Mel Allen with play by play. Thanks to Bing Crosby for commissioning the film so he could watch it after his vacation in Franc
  10. From my neighborhood walk today. 1 Trump flag vs 1 Harris flag. 2 Trump signs (one goes with the Trump flag which technically violates HOA rules on political signs. And one Anti-Trump sign which is my favorite, it's been out for a while now
  11. Is he going to spend the rest of the campaign in his Mar a Largo bathroom?
  12. Had a brief chat wit one of my sisters today. During the conversation she asked how I was voting, she's a two time Trump voter but just can't vote that way this time (says he's too crazy), she's on the fence about Harris. At the same time she doesn't want to vote third party or write in someone. I usually don't give family voting advice but told her that we'd get 4 years of what we had from Trump or worse if he's elected with a Republican Congress. Harris could facing the same mixed opposition (stalemate) so the Democratic things you might oppose may not pass. But it won't be the crazy guy in the White House. I also told her to look at the number of truly conservative Republicans and former members of his last administration who now support Harris. It wasn't a long conversation but I feel like I've got her thinking
  13. We're on the permanent mailing list in Virginia. I started early voting in Michigan when it was approved for those qualifying as senior citizens, I think that put me on the mailing list until we moved. There was a ballot sent to the Michigan address in 2020, my wife called the registrar's office (she was still working in Michigan part of the time) and had my name removed from the list.
  14. We're in that club. We do have a smallish dog that barks at everything within 10 feet of the door. She'll lick any intruders to death.
  15. Very true. I was doing a bit of ruminating the past couple of days. This past weekend was a celebration of The Marquis de Lafayette's visit to the US in 1824-25. 100 years ago Saturday was the anniversary of the victory at Yorktown in which he played a major role. Sunday he (or his actor/interpreter ) spoke at an event in Williamsburg, other CW actors in roles of statesmen of the period spoke about his history at times. Part of it is living here and being exposed to the history, but I wonder what Mssrs Washington, Jefferson, Madison would think about how we've evolved in recent years. Madison quoted Lafayette around 1784 as saying he would never have fought with the colonies if he had known they founding a land of slavery. I think the General would feel the same about the believes of many of today's so called Conservatives.
  16. He's fascinated. Probably quite jealous
  17. Screw the fry machine. Let him try some real work, something like the evening closing crew. Make it look real like have a high school football team show up ten minutes before closing. Then he and the rest of the "fast food workers don't deserve more than minimum wage" folks find out what real work is.
  18. Trump was in Latrobe, Pa today. Home of Arnold Palmer. I'm sure this story earned him one or two votes..
  19. He’s so vain maybe if he actually spring for a real makeup artist
  20. Not going to argue with that. But, who knows what may have transpired in talks with the University. Bennett said the decision came about following a weekend vacation with his wife. He just signed an extension to his contract this past Spring and intended to fulfill his obligation at the time. It's possible he went back to work Monday and asked that the extension be removed. The University may have balked at the negotiations and allowed him to announce his resignation rather than firing him. Stranger things have happened.
  21. It's been like that for a while. What some folks don't factor in is that some people are not predisposed to having numerous offspring. Especially if both partners are career minded and the careers at the time were not exactly family friendly. I found out I was better with a dog in my 60s and early 70s than I was with a child in my 20s.
