Very telling about the state of the sport....UVa Basketball Coach Tony Bennett stepping down. It was an emotional press conference
Just wondering how many other "old school" coaches are considering the same
Working out this morning and caught the most ridiculous trade proposal. The Lions should offer Cleveland several (I didn't catch how many) first and second round picks for Myles Garrett AND Deshaun Watson.
This was a guy who supposedly was a GM at one time for Miami and another team I didn't catch. Why would any sane football GM make that deal?
From what I've read so far Trump channeled the dirty version of Rodney Dangerfield at last night's Al Smith Dinner. Probably rehashed his campaign schtick similar to the one he did in 2016.
Meanwhile Harris gave us this intro
I think I've seen this show before. Wasn't a move to Tampa in the cards in order to replace Old Comiskey. It's a ploy to get funding for the Southside stadium, whether by Jerry or someone else.
I would lean toward #2, especially with the amount of consolidation in recent years both in print and broadcast. Print also relied on things like classified ads help sustain the bottom line (or so I was once told). Local papers and broadcast also relied on the small businesses in the community. A lot of them have gone the way of locally owned radio stations and newspapers. Now except in a few cases here and there opinions are ruled by corporate overlords.
The counter point to the above (even back in the day of the Fairness Doctrine for broadcasters) opinion was usually controlled by the beliefs of the business owners who did or did not buy advertising based on what was printed or aired.
I've walked around the outside of the Charlotte park, nice facility as is the Bulls park. Our timing has always been to happen to be in town either off season or when the teams are on the road. Someday, hopefully.
I expect them to stay in Florida. My original thought was whether the Disneyworld site was still viable. Could the move the travel teams to day games and Rays at night. A built in audience.
Is there enough parking around the Durham park to accommodate a major league team? We've stayed at the Aloft on our trips to Duke and there's a parking lot there. I would imagine things get a bit crowded when the performing arts center next door has an event.
