  1. Question. Can Trumpers honestly say that the Republican base does not practice what the (dis)Honorable Senator calls idealogical capture? And if it's illegal for a private educational institution (like Harvard) shoulda't it be illegal for another institution (like Liberty, or Hillsdale for example) who also receives federal funding?

  7. And all of that began to unravel with the disenchantment with the Viet Nam War and protests, throw in the race riots of the late 60s and a few other incidents. By the early to mid70s most of the blue collar Democrats switched parties. The problem is not many of them came back to the fold and either became staunch Republicans or remain "independents"
  8. I personally like this take on the whole "Democratic Party argument" https://www.thebulwark.com/p/the-democratic-partys-problems-real?utm_source=substack&publication_id=87281&post_id=165181488&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&utm_campaign=email-share&triggerShare=true&isFreemail=false&r=45wcm&triedRedirect=true

  11. In July 2016, Ray Mabus, then United States Secretary of the Navy, advised Congress that he intended to name the John Lewis-class oilers after prominent civil rights leaders, with this ship to be named in honor of gay rights activist Harvey Milk.[5] The ship was officially named at a ceremony in San Francisco on 16 August 2016.[6][7] Though Milk was gay, this ship is not the first US Navy ship named for an openly gay person, as that would be the WWI troopship USS Von Steuben (ID-3017), commissioned in 1917 and named for a revolutionary war hero and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.[8] Per Wikipedia

Shot and Chaser
  18. Not sure about the strategy here. Trumpublicans will gladly take the free handouts while trashing benefits.

  20. As much as I dislike Rand Paul for several reasons, he's correct here. This should be a major Democrat talking point in '26
  21. That's the series
  22. I can't remember the name of the series, but it was an airborne version of Band of Brothers that kind of pushed that to the forefront. Incidentally we learned a few years ago that one of my wife's cousins' was a member of C Company. One of the other groups who parachuted into France during D Day. He was much older than my wife. There is a book out there somewhere about C Company. He was a bit of a prankster. I believe he went back to Pennsylvania after the was and worked for the railroad.
