  1. As do dogs and cats...I wouldn't want them to govern the country either
  2. When is a deal not a deal?
  3. I've had the opportunity to go to a couple of the Library of Congress Book Fairs since we've moved here. Very popular events. There have always been informative and some great author interviews. Lots of diversity. I understand this years event will be substantially reduced, thanks to cutbacks. She will be missed
  4. Hopefully the link works https://www.insidehighered.com/opinion/views/2025/05/08/why-i-chose-university-florida-santa-ono-opinion?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR4TAB-1AAF3P7lYHXW9qe2pNHwCSKWsp0SquJIRTR4oiRin7oA1iFpcIQHMjw_aem_bIZ76-0Ckx0aUADL3yXVLQ
  5. That's what I thought. My dad had a CPAP machine about 15 years ago. Noisy as hell...then. I'm not sure how they are now.
  6. It was one of my first failures as a father. When we moved to Chicago in the early 90s my wife's office had an outing to Old Comiskey Park. To my chagrin he became a Sox fan. Early in our relationship I told my wife, who had the more promising career opportunities, I'd follow her anywhere. As long as it was a National League city. (My Western Pennsylvania roots, plus nearby Salem Va hosted the Pirates Carolina League team at the time) When she called me one day to ask about possibly moving to Chicago my first thoughts were "UGH, Not the Cubs!"

  8. It makes sense. With COPD and other lung diseases like Pulmonary Fibrosis seemingly on the rise. It’s probably more convenient for some than going thru pharmacies and such
  9. One negative though, his brother says he's a Sox fan. He grew up on the Southside (Dolton). Mother was a Cubs fan, dad rooted for the Cardinals. I think I caused a bit of a stink when I asked my Chicago Facebook friends his baseball loyalties.
  10. Looks like he spent a big portion of his career outside Chicago.
  11. This is the thread I was looking for. As far as church politics, I have no clue. But as I’ve said before I’m basically a “back pew” Presbyterian
  12. He’s also criticized Trump on Social Media, at least reposting other posts.
  13. Looking out for the "everyday man and woman"
  14. Leo XIV... Damn I'm older than he is
  15. From Chicago
  16. An American Pope
  17. They've cleared lots of land nearby for additional building in our subdivisions. Over 10o acres of trees gone. I get it, I knew about this when we bought here. That's not exactly my peeve. It's the after effect. In recent weeks we've seen numerous birds trying to get revenge. There are two robins who constantly attempt to fly into or thru the house, banging into our door to the patio and perching on the furniture. The one that really gets me is one particular bird (I assume) constantly leaving deposits on our car. It's a good thing we have an unlimited pass to the local car wash
  18. The standard Trump Know Nothing answer from anyone in this regime (and their disciples)...Don't answer the question, instead attack person asking the question or do a non-answer with a stupid question.
  19. This entire Regime needs to take a basic civics course.
  20. I think we should rebrand the current Republicans as the new KnowNothing Party... From A Lincoln in 1855 to Joshua Speed
  21. Loved the football game. I was 25, the baseball game came out a year later. A few years before we were introduced to home computers.
