  1. He's in my neck of the woods (about 50 miles away, across the Bay) in Chesapeake Va for a rally
  2. But her emails.
  3. Meanwhile it appears we will wait until Monday on the Trump Immunity case. The check is on the RV and taking the scenic route to DC
  4. No argument. Public perception is a big thing. Most historians agree Nixon won his debate with Kennedy in 1960 but most folks focus on Nixon's sweat and his beard. Gerald Ford's "I don't believe Poles consider themselves dominated by the Soviet Union" in 1976. Or Mitt Rodney's " Binders full of women" are moments that get remembered no matter how they performed overall.
  5. From what I'm reading, here's the weird thing. The pundit's at the debate site say it was a different Biden in the spin room than what was presented on stage. If he does continue as a candidate maybe his prep people need to cut back on facts and numbers and more on jabs on Trump. Let Joe be Joe. Let him keep hammering and put DJT on the defensive. I'd also focus his campaign on the team. Trump has billed himself has a great businessman but history has shown his management teams have been complete ****s. The same with his White House staff and cabinet . How many of Trump's "underlings" have been charged with crimes?
  6. Tim Miller on point
  7. TBH we only watched the first few minutes of the "debate". My wife, the former reporter and newsroom manager, had enough and we turned off the tube. It was like watching a train wreck. I spent part of the evening reading Erik Larson's new book on the time between the 1860 presidential election and the attack on Fort Sumpter which was just as depressing (great book, btw). I'm opposed to doing any reactionary actions. We're heading into a major holiday travel week and most uncommitted voters are more focused on heading to the beach, mountains or Up North than two old guys arguing. I'm willing to step back, take a breath, and evaluate the situation from a distance. Bottom line I'm anti Trump, and the main focus should be on the administration. We know what both parties bring to the table outside the guy with the title and Team Biden wins hands down.
  8. Not wanting to start a new thread... Lou Whitaker gets a baseball field named after him.... https://cardinalnews.org/2024/06/28/future-baseball-all-star-lou-whitaker-grew-up-playing-in-this-martinsville-park-now-its-named-after-him/
  9. From my X feed Biden did seem to improve after the first half hour, but how many actually stuck around that long? The optics were horrible in the early going.
  10. Daniel Dale has been doing a heck of a job fact checking. Too bad they were not scrolled on the CNN screen
  11. Besides I would take Harris over Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp that Trump will pick
  12. And remember, under the 2025 Plan, tips are tax free
  13. Wikipedia has McHale leaving during the Summer of 2001 to take a job with Tampa. Dombrowski came in after the season.
  14. Trump can and has appeared somewhat human in a few interviews, until you listen to what he actually says.
  15. Two more horrendous strike three calls by the home plate up
  16. So, it's not a bribe if it's paid after the goods are delivered????
  17. Nope, Still have the distaste of a million burning hot suns against Trump ever seeing the inside of the White House again
  18. That was part of the initial draw. We boarded the dog for a couple of nights. When we mentioned to the woman who checked us in that we were in for the concerts and a bit of exploring she said "You ought to move here, we have a University, a symphony ......" We did some exploring of the downtown area and put it on our list. It's a nice place to visit. We still had a few years before "retirement". It's kind of like dating. Once you knew, you knew.
  19. We scouted the Cookeville area. This was after a good experience visiting for the filming of Bluegrass Underground a few years ago (when they used the caverns in McMinnville). One of my wife's associates ran the PBS station there. We went back a few months later for a bit more exploring (Crossville, Sparta, Rickman, etc). The vibe just wasn't there. We basically felt the same way about areas like Asheville and Spartanburg, nice places to visit but we really didn't want to end up there for whatever reasons.
