  1. I can't find anything.
  2. The more I read about Mims is he is looking good. Raymond is a lock i think so that only leaves 1 or 2 spots open. Jones will probably make it but if the like the upside of Green or Drummond and they don't think Jones has much left he may not.
  3. My surprise would be Marvin Jones.
  4. Rogers Hornsby was well known red-ass in the baseball field. He got into an argument at 2B one time and after some back and forth punched the guy in the face. After the game a reporter asked we he hit the other player and he said "i wasn't getting anywhere talking to him".
  5. Listening to the Mgo podacast last night. They believe that with the players inevitably getting a large chunk of the TV money in the near future, the conferences are making up the lost millions through expansion. The original BIG teams split TV money equally, but some of these teams newer to the conference may get negotiated down some. Brian's theory is that at some point OSU or Michingan is going to lose a top recruit to the $EC and come to the realization that they should not be splitting TV money with equally Northwestern, Indiana, Rutgers, etc. And they will leave the Big Ten and go it alone and form their own nework to broadcast games. TV money has watered down the game day experience anyway to the point the big teams play about 3 competitive games a year and we now have games loaded with endless commercials. Conferences are in it for themselves and it is a matter of time before individual universites follow suit.
  6. MLB already has him at 6.
  7. Eduardo to Boston for Marcello Mayer, and we throw in Jackson Jobe.
  8. Doug Decinces was convicted of insider trading and sentenced to prison time. So he may not be the answer either.
  9. Doug Decinces?
  10. Avila made those changes about a year before his firing. In that press conference he also reiterated how the Tigers would not change most of their traditional ways of development. Yes he did make changes toward the end, but most of his tenure he surrounded himself with Littlefield Chadd, and Lunetta. Gardenhire was brought in and lasted 3 years for effs sakes. I don't think that was the kind of decision that a progressive front office makes.
  11. Avila would have benfitted greatly if he had brought in some younger analytically inclined minds into his front office. Instead he surrounded himself with a bunch of 60 somethings who probably had less of an clue on how baseball was changing than he did. The fact that he didn't look around and see how the Tigers were falling behind should have resulted in his dismissal much sooner. Smart leaders understand what they do know and what they do not know.
  12. Baez isn't the only SS that sucks from that group of FA's after 2021. Correa has a 717 OPS this year and Turner has a 687. Seager is hitting but he was the biggest injury risk and most peoples least favorite. Jay's 575 OPS takes the cake though.
  13. I believe Anderson is injured, because he was hitting before he went on the IL earlier this year. That is what i am hoping anyways because i am holding him on my fantasy team. There are a few underacheivers/constantly hurt guys on that Sox team, he could be someone who could benefit from a new home. Not that the deal would happen anyways due to the contracts like someone pointed out.
  14. I've been bitching about this for years. That has been going on for a while. I believe the Tigers were underfunding the development staff and drafting guys after a few years in college. Not singling out a specific pick or draft, just overall for the last several years. I think their inept development shows up in the lack of international success stories too. The few they have originally signed that have acheived success have done so after moving on to other organizations.
  15. The Tigers desparately needed center of the diamond prospects and they have a couple now.
  16. I think it was Law who said Skenes, Langford and Crews would be top 15 immediately. Not sure about Clark but shouldn't be too far behind them.
  17. Jacob Turner brought back Infante and Anibal Sanchez I think.
  18. There are so many variables on this roster to commit to big time free agents. Mize, Manning Skubal, Tork, Baez, not to mention a fairly barren farm system. With a bunch of money coming off the books I can see them trying to sign a couple of shorter term deals while they sort out all of the injured pitchers they have.
  19. Parker reminds me now of the next Jake Marisnick. Like you said hopefully he can take another step.
  20. PFF just ranked all positions and Goff ranked 16th amongst QB's, behind Geno Smith and Derek Carr. It is based on the upcoming 2023 season, not future value. I would have Goff higher than that but it shows what others think of him. With very little mobility and an average at best arm he has a ceiling that is much lower than other more talented QB's. It also limits play calling a bit too. I believe they want to see what they have in Hooker before they hand out a 160M 4 year deal to Goff. Also why do a deal now when he could get hurt this year and they would be stuck with him.
  21. I get the feeling Harris wants to get this ship headed in right direction before he makes any major aquistions. Right now it's still basically the same team as last year, just a few deck chairs rearranged. Although if they are in the thick of a playoff race come the trade deadline that probably changes the math a little. They may hang onto a piece or two, but they won't sacrifice a nice prospect to help the team either.
  22. I 'm saying if you take an objective view of this franchise and where they are at, now is not the time to hold on to volatile assets like young relievers and players close to free agency. It will be a while before they know what they have in Mize and Jobe, and they just can't sit still for another year.
  23. This team still needs a lot of help. They are about to trade their best starting pitcher, their only above average one at that. The rest of the rotation are 5th-6th starters. The pen is ok but that of course can change on a dime. The young pitching they do have are all hurt and can't be counted on to provide maybe one decent guy for the rotation. The stariting line up is loaded with second division regulars. And they have one of the worst farm systems in baseball. I think it's more likely they trade Lange and continue building for future than not. And the next year will be another off season of low level aqusitions and roster churn.
