  1. I wonder if this new regime will be more cognizant of manipulating service time. The last one didn't seem to give a damn.
  2. The Lions should look into Matt Ioannidis. Checks a lot boxes. 3T, team captain, only 29. He had 8.5 sacks from the interior Dline a few years ago. PFF Rank 92 Matt Ioannidis POSITION DI AGE 29.3 STATUS Unsigned 2022 TEAM CAR PROJECTED CONTRACT 2023 TEAM — 2023 CONTRACT — Ioannidis was one of the more surprising cap casualties heading into 2022, ultimately landing with the Carolina Panthers on a one-year, $5.9 million flier. He paired well with nose tackle Derrick Brown as a lighter pass-rusher up the middle. Ioannidis has missed time here and there in recent seasons with injuries, but he's been a consistently strong pass-rusher from the interior, earning pass-rush grades of 69.1 or better in each of the last six seasons with a pressure rate around 10% in each of the last two. He can help a lot of teams make things tough on opposing quarterbacks
  3. Positional value isn't a one size fits all argument. If you have a team ready to win in the playoffs and they fill a few need with top draft picks, that is different than a bad team with holes all over the place taking a RB early for example. When they really need impact players. They wind up wasting a few years of RBs career while they are building a team I don't think SF giving up a bunch of picks for McCaffery last year regrets what they did.
  4. My father in law passed away yesterday from cancer, he was the finest man I have ever met. I will miss him. He was a huge Tigers fan and we went to a few games every year along with a few Caps games. He married his high school sweetheart and they were together for 59 years. He worked in sales and they kept him on until he was 78 years old because they knew they may have lost a few accounts if he left. My wife and I, and her brother, were going through pictures and scrapbooks for the visitation this week and found stuff going back to his youth. Just awesome stuff. His mother saved everything, we found pony league team pictures starting from when he was like 10 years old. And she saved numerous press papers of his baseball accomplishments. He was a very good player and would go on to coach Crestons baseball team for a few years. Attached are a couple of pictures of him from the newspapers that we found from the 50s. A side note, the news back then was much more local. Stories in the paper I saw were about a man who had his fence destroyed by an automobile. A depressed mother attempted suicide. And lots of stuff on high school sports. I know somewhere Al is young again and playing baseball. That is him on the far right in the team picture.
  5. Future all pro Colby Sordsal.
  6. If you told me who the lions drafted and what picks they had, I don't think I would have matched any of them up.
  7. Did the lions just trade back?
  8. Great pick. That secondary is deep now.
  9. They still desperately need a 3T, so it may be Benton. But their board clearly does not align with the pundits and they are drafting according to their board, and not need. Personally i like Campbell and Gibbs, I just hate the thought of losing out on a potential multi year probowler at a position of need in Carter. And a shutdown corner in Gonzales. Campbell and Gibbs feel like the safe picks with lower ceilings and higher floors as far as overall impact.
  10. I like Gibbs and Campbell. We may trade into the back of the first.
  11. Jalen Carter isn't gritty enough.
  12. They are not taking Nolan Smith. Either Forbes or JSN.
  13. To clarify Goff finished in the 20's among qbs, his rating wasn't in the 20's. Hurts ran for 750 yards last year, Goff ran for 73. Which was 3 more than Matt Ryan. And Goff had arm limitations as well. Right now Goff is in a great situation, so Lions certainly do not have to do anything. But situations change, and he will become more expensive soon.
  14. Stroud has a better arm, is a better athelete, and would be about 33m cheaper for the next 4 years. Slightly is understating it a bit. Plus Goff would have trade value next year as well. From 2019-2021 Goff had QBR's in the mid 20's when the talent around him was mediocre to below average. Put Goff In a situation where he has to create on his own and he has proven he cannot perform. That said there is a risk involved with drafting any QB so I understand not wanting to take a risk unless they are super confident in whom they are drafting. And at 6 it's they may not be. I think they can win with Goff In the short term, it's just when they have to start paying some of their good young players where it may be hard to sustain.
  15. It's hard to separate fact from fiction at this stage. Now Richardson is dropping into the teens as well as Stroud falling behind Levis. I think my favorite first round scenario is Carter at 6 and Robinson at 18, and i have no idea if that is even a possibility. I'd like Stroud at 6 but i don't know what to make of the bad score in that test the other day, plus the questions surrounding his leadership abilities. Oh well whatever happens the Lions are already a playoff team and will be much better this time next week.
  16. The Alabama WR curse lives on.
  17. If they wound up with Carter and Robinson, that would be 2 of the five best prospects from this class according most sites. That would most likely drive a trade of Swift out of town. i Was against taking Robinson but it appears that he may be the best option at 18. If he really is an elite RB it would be worth it IMO.
  18. I had just purchased a brand new cherokee and was at the barber shop. I finished and went out and got into a red cherokee just like mine and started it up. I couldn't figure out why the radio station was on a religious station. So i started to drive a way and a lady came running up to me. I opened the window and she told me i was in her jeep. I'm like "what"? She repeated "that is my jeep". Sure enough I looked and right next to spot where i got in her jeep was mine. Not sure how my key worked in her vehicle but it did. I could see my barber laughing his ass off at the door. He reminded me of that for years until he retired.
  19. That pick at 18 is a difficult one. Kancey doesn't seem like a 3 down guy like others have said. If they go DL at 6 it would be nice if one of the top 4 corners drop to 18, but they may not. The best available in my mocks usually are OT's. That will be interesting.
  20. If Anderson is there at 6 the Lions should look at trading out. They have Houston and a stand up edge isn't a part of their base defense anyways. If they think he will be generational type player then you take him and adjust the scheme a bit. TE is definitely a need. With such a deep crop they can get a good one in the second if they haven't traded one of those picks away.
  21. 0 Tech is directly over the center. A 1 tech is in either A gap. Ndamukong Suh used to play this position with Lions a lot and blow up plays immediately. Jim Schwartz used to play the "wide 9" with DE's lined up outside the TE.
