House Republicans are going to be giving a major STREAM of their Political Polemics. And to hell with anything else. You know, like... governing, compromise, leadership, doing what's right for America/ Americans/ democracy, etc...
-
Actually, I should rephrase that... I see that you were really asking that question as a response to G2's post, in which: I agree with you... Political gains/ losses based on positions/ history to not change the definition of antisemitism. Antisemitism is antisemitism.
-
You're asking this question? Trump says "China Flu" and shortly thereafter hundreds of Chinese-Americans, nay, ANY Asian American, not even of Chinese descent, are beaten. Some of them to death. In America. Any excuse to enact violence, against someone who isn't like you (the general you, I'm not stating this specifically to you oblong)... In any country. At any time. Any excuse whatsoever. Religious, ethnic, skin-color... Hatred uses any excuse. Whatsoever.

A pro-Muslim/ Palestinian position. Or simply, a Muslim on the left.

PS: I didn't mean to completely ignore Offense... In its most simplistic terms: Kemp was a stampede rolling to the basket, reminding me of what Duren looks like he could turn into. But all 3 of Kemp, Ewing & Duren look like they can put up points in various different ways (in its most simplistic form, I know Ewing was OLD school) but, also... I hope Duren can sit in the 74% FT's like Kemp & Ewing, and not in the 65% area like Webber and McDyess; which, I think he can. Maybe he'll set a completely new standard and all new PF/ C's coming into the league will soon be compared to Jalen Duren. -

I meant on defense, not offense. I won't know how to characterize his offense until he fully develops... I think it's too early to make a call on closest comps on O... But yeah, Ewing is probably ruled out automatically as an O-comparison. -

I always thought Shawn Kemp... Maybe because of their builds... I never thought of Webber at all because he wasn't much of a rebounder or shot-blocker, and Duren is a demon on both... But he's trending closer to Patrick Ewing. That's who I'm sticking with (even though Ewing wasn't any more of a rebounder than Webber)... Until I see otherwise. -
Week Eight: Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) @ Detroit Lions (5-2)

That's not a great sign for the playoffs either... Either making them, or lasting very long in them... Hope the line holds up till the end of the season... -

Spittin' Image!!! -
This is what I would start with. I don't think it'd fly... Like, 0% chance... But it's nice to look at, at least... Bare minimum you have to swap Madden out for Jobe.

Miggy Cabrera trade.

2023 Pistons Regular Season Discussion Thread
1984Echoes replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Pistons
Credit to Monte. And to everyone on the team for buying in. -
So then the operating question is: Can the Tigers strike lightning twice?
-
The key issue is that, PRIOR to the trade, I'm certain that any evaluator calculator would have told the Marlins: No! Don't do that trade! But again, financial duress causes teams to do very strange things. Which is what we are banking on and discussing at this point... Even if the likelihood is 0.0001%. That 1/10,000 chance is critical! (To our mental and emotional health...)
-
Exactly. We have SERIOUS discussions, that impact our sports teams, and all of HUMANITY, here on Motown Forums!!!
-
But just for an alternative opinion: Miggy Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to the Tigers for 6 players (I believe the trade simulator for this trade would look the same as the above trade, possibly even WORSE, before the trade was made... And Last point: financial duress has created some "weird" looking transactions throughout baseball history. IE: Babe Ruth sold by the Red Sox to the Yankees for theatrical production money, the 70's A's, Marlins sending Miggy to the Tigers, etc.): Miggy Cabrera - 49 WAR with the Tigers Dontrelle Willis - (-1) WAR with the Tigers NET = 48 WAR Andrew Miller - (-2.5) WAR with the Marlins Cam Maybin - 2 WAR with the Marlins Burke Badenhop - 2 WAR with the Marlins Mike Rabelo - (-0.2) WAR with the Marlins Dallas Trahern - (Didn't make it to MLB) Frankie De La Cruz - (-0.9) WAR with the Marlins NET = 0.4 WAR

The only reason for any of this discussion is if the Padres are under severe salary issues that they feel they must eliminate. That can create "fire sale" conditions... So even aside the trade imbalance as you've indicated: if they feel no pressure whatsoever to fix their salary structure, the entire idea is moot.
-
Which would be worth it IMO if you can dump Baez. And also, if we get one of Bogaerts or Machado back as well as Tatis. That's a LOT of salary to take back, so they can have Baez. And I'll even throw in $40 mill of Ilitch's money. Plus prospects like Malloy, 1 of Keith/ Jung, etc. Receiving back: proven versus unproven. Can field a position versus mostly a DH type. Or: not a good fielder at a position, etc...
-
For a FULL season I would bet more on 2025 than 2024... But I think he sees MLB time in 2024. How many 2024 MLB starts...? I wouldn't know enough to even hazard a guess.
-
We would be taking on a MUCH larger amount of salary than they'd be taking back; also, Ilitch could send an additional $40 mill (just using a round number) to further reduce their costs.
-
Oops, I was thinking of Eduardo. Although the same question would still apply. Also... Getting both Machado and Tatis is (99.999%) a pipe dream. What if it were Tatis and Bogaerts for Baez and lots of prospects? Just asking...
-
Intriguing idea! I'm all for it. Two important points. Chris Ilitch could prove his bona fides by approving this trade, including spending a few bucks on Baez's salary reduction. But I'll propose a crazy alternative: We'll take on BOTH Tatis & Machado's contract, and send them back Baez (Bogaerts could play 3B). Plus lots of young prospects. The only stick-in-the-mud is that: Doesn't Baez still have no-trade control over where he plays? Yeah, Skubal not included maybe from both ends (we're trying to get into a competitive window so, no Skubal; and they want young, cost-controllable, cheap... even if they are going to try and still stay competitive). Which leads to: prospects. Jobe should be an untouchable; but in a deal like this, I don't see how we can do that. I think there is NO possibility in talking them into taking quantity (Madden/ Smith/ Flores/ Hurter) over quality (Jobe). So, just sayin'... It means we keep a lower starter prospect (Madden), but have to give up...? Jobe? Plus Malloy? And 1 of Keith or Jung? Plus some other pitching and position prospects? I'd also, rather give Lange up than prospect Tyler Mattison (I'm hoping this dude is Hader 2.0 so, yeah: here's Lange instead...). What else? Tatis contract doesn't bother me (he's only 24), but Machado's does. But I'd be 100% willing to chance Machado's contract and hope Harris also would take this "calculated risk" (and Ilitch approve the money commitment). Just spit-ballin' here...
-
And paid-for cheerleaders.
-
Yeah, go ahead and explain that.
-
I'm going back to my Tatis-love. If they're dumping contracts... He's the guy I want.
