I would have to be overwhelmed (which is not going to happen at this point) to be interested. I'm in the "just wait out the development curve" camp.

So the Russian population should now lose 50 kilos each and live on 1 piece of bread and 1 bowl of borscht per day? Great plan Putin! ( /s) As long as they have enough daily vodka for everyone... Putin's impoverishment plan could work?

The: "Can we not do this anymore?" 2024 MLB Draft

That's exactly my way-too-early viewpoint of 2024. -
The: "Can we not do this anymore?" 2024 MLB Draft
1984Echoes replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Tigers
12 games to go and we're tied for the 8th spot (8-to-10th tied). Unless there's a big change in the last 12, we're finishing in the top 10, pending whatever happens in the lottery... That, and the crapload of kids coming up in the next two years gives me some hope that the Tigers can build something both "NOW" (2024-ish) and for some time in the future that gets this team out of picking in the top 10 for awhile, and hopefully into the playoffs on an annual basis. Starting next year for us dreamers... This team still has to sustain any future success with Draft & Develop though... So here's also hoping that Harris is the right guy to build a sustainable model for the Detroit Tigers... -
How to construct a Playoff/Champion worthy team, D Tigers V.2024+

That may be true... But I still like the idea of telling him straight up right after the season ends that "we will be phasing you out as a starter". Just the thought of that, being replaced by Short, or Kreidler, or Eddys Leonard... could spur a different decision. But you are probably right... No way he passes up that money for the free market at this point. -
And Russian Mafia-Oligarchic support. In other words, the Russian government, headed by one Vladimir Putin.

Agreed. I'll put this a different way for those who want to dump him: What could we expect in return if we traded him? A 1st, or a 2nd round pick? What if the "word" is out and the most Yzerman could get back is a 4th...? My point being: if we're trading him, we're most likely not getting our 1st round pick back. That's a sunk cost. Some might say "something is better than nothing". No, it's not. The worst case is to get "something" back, at a gross devaluation to the 1st, and then another team develops him into an All-Star starting goalie. Or... "Opportunity Cost." IMO: the Opportunity Cost of losing him is higher than any return we will get for him right now. So I say we either develop him and he becomes a competent goalie for the Wings... or bust. And I'd rather bust than dump him cheaply and then in 3 years he's dominating the NHL, for another team.

They are signifying that Mexico is ready to go full-on-throttle Fascist. It's why Russia and China only marched along with Mexican troops in their parade. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Jobe is pitching for Erie today... so far: 4 inn's, 2 hits, 0 bb's, 4 K's...

Week Two: Seattle Seahawks (0-1) @ Detroit Lions (1-0)

The problem is that you don't want someone playing so crappy at LT that Goff gets knocked out for the rest of the season. IMO. -
I'm going to set aside that for the moment G2... I like what he admitted about his own, Republican, party - the truth about today's Republican Party, Trumpism, and its adherents - on record.

Any combination of the above works for me... in any order.

Anybody Want Some Lithium (& other assorted items)?
1984Echoes replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Politics
That's in the ballpark I named...: 720 miles, geographically available recharging stations wherever needed, 1/2 hour to recharge (15 min's wouldn't be needed as much if a full day's drive were within a battery, every overnight would get a full recharge...). -
I think if he makes a trade for a significant position player it will be a minor league trade... some blocked player that's in AA or AAA....

That's the key point: Improvements in kW/Hr/Weight required to meet efficacy needs... -
I would be thrilled with a move like that...!

Al's players that actually matter are in their 1st or 2nd year, or are in Erie or Toledo... So... Yes.

I don't think Harris's "REAL" decisions will be in this 2023-24 Offseason. I believe those will only start in the 2024-25 Offseason. And replacing Eduardo/ Lorenzen and adding maybe one position player (by trade or otherwise) are not really "real" decisions because that really is only treading water... IMO. When he gets to adding an "Ace" or a top-notch All-Star position player or even an average player but over and above what we've already got, from outside the organization, and however he gets that done (not counting the draft, but rather: Trades or FA...); that's what I would call his first "real" moves to position us for the playoffs. Again, I don't think that's 2023-24 as I believe he'll still be sifting through what we've got, or replacing what we have/ lost this year... but, rather... upgrades IMO begin in the 2024-25 offseason...

OR... PS: The ability to recharge an EV battery quickly enough to not break a daily planned mileage (reasonable) expectation. And the Infrastructure to do so. IE: A 1/2 hour Breakfast/ Lunch/ and Dinner stops, plus the ability to recharge at least partially at each and EVERY 1/2 hour break/stop = the ability to travel the 720 daily mileage without problems... -

This really needs to be broken down into a DAILY expectation of driving mileage. Which requires two things: 1) The Daily Expectation: What is a top daily driving expectation? 12 hours at 60 miles per hour average (stops for bio-breaks, traffic slowdowns, meals, slower MPH driving areas, stoplights, etc...), TOPS? That's 720 miles per day, which should be roughly topping out the mileage expectation... Recalibrate expectations, per your point, and maybe we could live with lower expectations... BUT... even at that top expectation (or even higher), batteries are not too far off as is... although the additional point here is that current batteries lose top daily mileage with charges/ battery life/ temperatures/ etc. 2) The Second Point is that: Infrastructure. No matter where you are in the US, overnight anyone/ anywhere MUST be able to recharge their car/ battery to a full charge for the next day's driving. -
I'm not saying the US should jump into the middle of this... My point was that Armenia and Azerbaijan both used to be a part of the Soviet Union... Now, neither one of them wants anything to do with Russia...
-
The UAV precursor... But also, it now has both of those countries effectively removed from the former Soviet Union's "sphere of influence".
-
Yep. But also... they thought the US would do more as we were a part of that agreement as well. Just not as guaranteed as Ukraine thought we were giving. I don't remember the exact semantics that held us out of protecting them from Russia...
-
No no... Armenia is PISSED that Russia refused to help them when Azerbaijan made incursions into Armenia, particularly last year around Sept... It seems that Russia was.... ummm... preoccupied? Azerbaijan currently is occupying a part of Armenia itself. The last CSTO (Russia's "NATO" pale shadow) military get together in January, 2023, which was supposed to be in Armenia: Armenia said "no way, not in our country." They're fed up with Russia and have been for at least a couple years+ or so...
