  1. I'm ready to update this now, and I do feel better about the depth of our prospects after this draft: Age on 10/1/2023: Red Wings Future 1st pair: Simon Edvinsson, LD, 20, 6' 6" 210 - Mo Seider, RD, 22, 6' 4" 204, 2nd pair: William Wallinder, LD, 21, 6' 4" 192 - Axel Sandin-Pellikka, RD, 18, 5' 11" 190 3rd pair options: Shai Buium, LD, 20, 6' 3" 210 - Antti Tuomisto, RD, 22, 6' 5" 205 Albert Johansson, LD, 22, 6' 0" 168 - Andrew Gibson, RD, 18, 6' 3" 190 Donovan Sebrango, LD, 21, 6' 1" 194 - Brady Cleveland, LD, 18, 6' 5" 210 Potential starting goalies: Sebastian Cossa, G, 20, 6' 6" 212 Trey Augustine, G, 18, 6' 0" 190 Ville Husso, G, 28, 6' 3" 200 Lines: Dylan Larkin, LSC, 27, 6' 1" 198 - Lucas Raymond, LW, 21, 5' 11" 176 - Michael Rasmussen, RW, 24, 6' 6" 212 Marco Kasper, LSC, 19, 6' 1" 184 - Carter Mazur, LW, 21, 6' 0" 170 - Jonaton Berggren, RW, 23, 5' 11" 197 Nate Danielson, RSC, 18, 6' 2" 190 - Amadeus Lombardi, LSC/LW, 20, 5' 10" 178 - Elmer Soderblom, RW, 22, 6' 8" 246 Other 3rd line/ 4th line options: Klim Kostin, C, 24, 6' 3" 215 - Dmitri Buchelnikov, LW, 20, 5' 9" 150 - Filip Zadina, RW, 23, 6' 0" 190 (I forgot we just added Kostin... I'll give him a 3rd/4th line possibility and see if he's worth signing after this year as an RFA...) Joe Veleno, C, 23, 6' 1" 203 - Theodor Niederbach, RSC/ LW, 21, 5' 11" 172 - Noah Dower Nilsson, LSC/ RW, 18, 6' 0" 180
  2. That's the thing, exactly... We'll need to "find more goals" from anywhere in the lineup. Including if Yzerman can turn up a "hidden gem" or two, like Lombardi/ Mazur/ Soderblom... etc.
  3. in the 6th depth goalie lottery ticket with Rudy Guimond, 6' 2".
  4. Kevin Bicker with the 2nd 5th round pick, LW from Germany... Looks like a goal-scorer...
  5. Jack Phelan, 6' 3" RHD. Almost no points so all D, very little O.
  6. Larry Keenan, 6' 3" LHD. Grandfather played 11 years in the NHL. "Top-four potential" but he's untested against higher levels of competition...
  7. Age maybe...? No... he's 18 like everyone else... OK... not interested in playing much D, makes bad passes, doesn't control the puck on his stick as well as he should... Now I see why he's a 3rd-round projection rather than a 1st/2nd-round talent... But... He's a goal-scorer.
  8. #73 We selected Liam's (Red Wings 2021 draftee) brother: Noah Dower Nilsson. Goal scorer. LW. 6' 0' 185, excellent shooting, IQ, playmaking skills, skating. 26 goals in 37 games last year. Why wasn't he a 1st round consideration...? Not by the Wings but at least by the end of the round?
  9. OK Then!!! Kostin - 6' 3" 215# 24 y.o. Center, 11 goals in 57 games/ 10 min's/ game with the Oilers in 2022-23, former 1st round (#31) pick by the Blues Yamamoto - 5' 8" 155# 24 y.o. RW, 50 goals in 244 games/ 14 min's/ game with the Oilers in 2022-23, Oilers 1st round (#24) pick 2017.
  10. Wait, what?
  11. Per The Hockey Writers site, on Cleveland (6' 5" 210), not great on skates, not much O, a lot of stay-at-home Defense: "But if the Vegas Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup win taught us anything, it’s that there’s still a place for big, bruising defensemen who can wear down the opposition, and in the 2023 NHL Draft class, there isn’t a player that can do that better than Cleveland. Known for being a punishing hitter, he’s one of the toughest players at the United States Hockey League (USHL) level. This season, he led the NTDP with 106 penalty minutes, 30 of which came in a single game after he removed his helmet in a fight. He doesn’t do anything halfway, so when he commits to a hit or a fight, he gives it his all. It’s made him one of the most feared players on the National Team, even though he is usually the seventh defenseman on the roster."
  12. But they are REALLY talking up Cleveland so maybe he's really good/ has a lot of upside...?
  13. I'm not surprised at that as much as we haven't pivoted back to forwards versus still adding D after #42...
  14. At 47 we picked another defenseman: Brady Cleveland.
  15. I like those two picks... a lot. Right positions... But still looking for some goal scorers...
  16. We select: 41. Goalie Trey Augustine. 42. Right Shot Defenseman Andrew Gibson (high IQ, more D than O, physical) 43. Traded for #47 and #147
  17. Brindley gone. Gauthier gone. Hrabel gone. Cristall gone. Wings up next X 3
  18. There's a whole brigade of fully-loaded weaponized MAGA soldiers ready for just that.
  19. We're all with you Tater on the need to add some goal scorers to the Wings roster so... whoever that may be... The answer is: Yes.
  20. And start committing murder... And other forms of mayhem... And 35% of this country WANT that... Awesome.
  21. I am perfectly fine with running a 3-line group of centers of Larkin-Kasper-Danielson... And Kasper and Danielson can flip a coin on who gets #2 versus #3. I think it sets us up to have 3 strong two-way lines...
  22. They're trying... Ironically, the invasion is making it really easy for Zelensky to make all sorts of moves on eliminating old Soviet-style corruption (currently malign Russian oligarchic ownership of businesses in Ukraine that is now easy to... eliminate).
  23. There's going to be major construction projects/ reconstruction in Ukraine for at least the 10-15 years after Russia is kicked out...
  24. Actually, my preference would be to move up in the 2nd to snag Dragicevic. I think he is immediately comparable to Buium and a bit higher. Whether that involves moving a player and a 2nd or a 2nd & a 3rd I don't care... Do it Steve!
