  1. This probably belongs in the draft thread... but since we're comparing trade-for potential wr's with draftable wr's... here's one list of ranked wr's (nfl draft buzz) in descending order: # PLAYER POS WEIGHT HEIGHT 40YD 1 Quentin Johnston WR 208lbs 6' 3" 4.40 2 Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR 196lbs 6' 1" 4.48 3 Jordan Addison WR 173lbs 5' 11" 4.49 4 Jalin Hyatt WR 176lbs 6' 0" 4.40 5 Zay Flowers WR 182lbs 5' 9" 4.42 6 Josh Downs WR 171lbs 5' 9" 4.48 7 Nathaniel Dell WR 165lbs 5' 8" 4.49 8 Rashee Rice WR 204lbs 6' 1" 4.51 9 Cedric Tillman WR 213lbs 6' 3" 4.54 10 Marvin Mims Jr. WR 183lbs 5' 11" 4.38 11 A.T. Perry WR 198lbs 6' 4" 4.47 12 Xavier Hutchinson WR 203lbs 6' 2" 4.53 13 Tyler Scott WR 177lbs 5' 10" 4.44 14 Kayshon Boutte WR 195lbs 5' 11" 4.50 15 Andrei Iosivas WR 205lbs 6' 3" 4.43 16 Michael Wilson WR 213lbs 6' 2" 4.58 17 Rakim Jarrett WR 192lbs 6' 0" 4.44 18 Jayden Reed WR 187lbs 5' 11" 4.45 19 Jonathan Mingo WR 220lbs 6' 2" 4.46 20 Parker Washington WR 204lbs 5' 10" 4.49 21 Dontayvion Wicks WR 206lbs 6' 1" 4.62 22 Trey Palmer WR 192lbs 6' 0" 4.33 23 Jalen Moreno-Cropp WR 172lbs 5' 11" 4.40 24 Dontay Demus Jr. WR 212lbs 6' 3" 4.57 25 Charlie Jones WR 175lbs 5' 11" 4.43 26 Ronnie Bell WR 191lbs 6' 0" 4.54 27 Elijah Higgins WR 235lbs 6' 3" 4.54 28 Bryce Ford-Wheaton WR 221lbs 6' 4" 4.38 29 Puka Nacua WR 201lbs 6' 2" 4.45 30 Keytaon Thompson WR 213lbs 6' 5" 4.70 31 Jadon Haselwood WR 215lbs 6' 2" 4.66 32 Jake Bobo WR 206lbs 6' 4" 4.68 33 Jalen Wayne WR 210lbs 6' 2" 4.51 34 Mitchell Tinsley WR 199lbs 6' 0" 4.60 35 Demario Douglas WR 179lbs 5' 8" 4.44 36 Derius Davis WR 165lbs 5' 8" 4.36 Potential X-receivers (these are just guesses on rounds): 1st round: Quentin Johnston, Smith-Njigba? 2nd/3rd round: Cedric Tillman, Rashee Rice, AT Perry, Xavier Hutchinson 4th/5th round: Andrei Iosivas, Jonathon Mingo, Trey Palmer 5th/6th/7th: Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Puka Nacua, Jalen Wayne
  2. Both Korean manufacturers. Maybe Koreans don't steal cars?
  3. Common sense is also dead, replaced by Q.
  4. The dead ones and all the ones that are retreating under the Ukrainians hail of non-existent ammunition.
  5. This is where I'm at. I think they can find a good x-receiver in the 3rd, or possibly even in the 5th or 6th... I'm not interested in other wr options aside from a mid-to-late rounder... certainly not in the trade offer wr's as I think their salaries are exorbitant and stupid (from a team's cap perspective). If I use cap on absorbing a guy in trade, I am ONLY interested in Simmons... from what I've seen as potentially available to this point. That's it. If not Simmons, than just hold onto the space for now. I don't believe in making stupid moves just to say we used all our cap space possible,
  6. Also: Do NOT want to trade for one of those WR's. For me it's Simmons or just hold onto the cap space for later. It doesn't need to burn a hole through everyone's pockets... it CAN be used at a later date...
  7. I would absolutely be on board with this trade. But I would hope that Gonzalez falls to 11 and select him there. And then draft Bijan at 18. 2nd & 3rd rounders can be used for: WR, QB, LB, OL. Pick 3 of 4 and drop one of them to the 5th round...
  8. I am perfectly fine with someone who has similar skills as a Johnston, but is a lower round guy without the fanfare. And at WR there are a boatload of WR's with similar groupings of skills that, if you wanted to go to the ladder example and state that each WR is also a rung below the other ones, from Quentin Johnston on down, I wouldn't disagree. But I believe the rungs at WR are much, much closer together and are small steps down rung to rung where at CB they are much larger steps down rung to rung. I rank CB as a more skilled/ valuable commodity in this draft. And don't want to go down too many rungs. Whereas I rank WR as a much easier get/ and a much lesser valuable commodity than CB. Shorter version: I don't want to spend a 1st round draft pick on a WR. I do want to spend one on a CB.
  9. I think CB's drop off at a faster rate than WR's. Larger step downs from rung to rung in my ladder example (that I tried to post but I think it got edited out...) than WR's.
  10. I would like to add to that: I wouldn't draft Skoronski at 6 if: Will Anderson is on the board. Tyree Wilson is on the board. Myles Muphy is on the board. (He's just a favorite of mine - with size (6' 5" 275 #'s) and speed (4.55 40), pass rush abilities, and the ability to slide all along the line, something Holmes/ DC/ AG love... Also, he's the best edge-setting (against the run) DE in the draft. Further refinement needed, but I take him for multiple reasons. Over Skoronski, EASILY. Christian Gonazalez is on the board. Bijan Robinson is on the board. Jalen Carter is on the board. (But ONLY if Holmes/ DC/ AG give their Seal of Approval.) Devon Witherspoon is on the board. (But ONLY if Holmes/ DC/ AG agree with this.) Will Levis is on the board. (But ONLY if Holmes/ DC/ AG agree with this.)
  11. Holmes doesn't draft for floors... He drafts for upsides...
  12. PS: Add in size advantage. Which covers two things: getting off the line; and red zone/ 1st downs (using size advantage for 50/50's or similar...).
  13. Except at x. Or, at least not as much as the other two WR positions. An x-receiver can just fly. Their primary function is to stretch the defense. That's not ONLY it, but it is the primary. Add in blocking... if you have a good rookie x who is also a good blocker... they may not get every nuance down their rookie year, but blocking and stretching the defense covers 2/3's of what they would be asked to do... maybe more... You can go with rookie + Reynolds + Cephus... Easily IMO, if you select the right guy in the draft...
  14. Unless they actually SEE him (on TV or at-the-game, doesn't matter...).
  15. "With last night's loss, Detroit is assured of finishing no lower than tied for 3rd with Charlotte..." Detroit has 8 games left. They'd have to go 8-0 to do this and Charlotte would have to lose every single game for even this to happen. Essentially, Detroit cannot finish lower than the top 3 and I don't even count Charlotte. Detroit would have to win 2 games or 3 games and Houston/ SA lose every single game for a position swap to happen. I think Houston is the one and only team realistically within that range. I think we are stuck in the top two, and only if we beat Houston is there a chance to finish 2, instead of 1. Just my 'pinion.
  16. I'd rather just draft a new WR. Maybe one who could stay on the field.
  17. Simon now has the goal. They correctly switched it.
  18. Luff didn't touch that. It went off the Blues' defender's skate. And then ricocheted twice off the goalie (right skate left knee) before sliding in for the score... Simon is a Pinball Wizard!!!
  19. Of course they do. But I'm not a player, I'm a fan. I'm giving MY perspective... as a fan.
  20. I see this as simply an additional venue/ event to celebrate the winner of Super Bowl LVIII.
  21. There is also one thing I agree with Hongbit on: We are not playing for 2023, we are playing for 2024. Miggy doesn't matter in that regard, nor do wins/ losses this year. What matters is we fix all our broken players and try to identify who can be a part of a competitive/ playoff team next year. Fix Mize, Skubal and Torkenson. Fix Baez (if he sticks with us next year), Meadows and E-Rod (same as Baez, see if he sticks for the remainder of his contract). If Baez and E-Rod are hot at the deadline, and adamant about opting out, trade them for other futures. Help Greene & Manning to improve their games/ reach higher levels. See what kind of players Vierling/ Maton/ Carpenter/ Parker/ Wentz/ Brieske are... are they pieces of the team? As is? Or does Brieske get pushed to the BP? Same with Faedo... is he a starter/ reliever/ or someone to move on from? How high this year do Madden and Flores rise? Is Wenceel a part of the future? Schoop surely isn't. These and many other questions are the important issues this year. Not wins & losses. To me.
  22. On this part (all of it, not just the bolded part) I agree with. The only way to "early retire" Miggy is if would agree to it. Oh how I wish Miggy would take a buyout (100% pay out of course, but I mean the roster spot) to become a Bench Coach/ Goodwill Ambassador. But he wants to play, so he will. As much as his body allows... even if he goes 0 for 100. All I can do is bitch about it... and be glad when it's over and done with.
  23. There's our inside pass rush. I like the idea...
  24. Or is it better to have a utility player that allows certain players to take a day off or be substituted for properly (including game injury); rather than forcing a starting player to play through an injury because instead of having a proper backup to cover for the guy... we have a Corpse Formerly Known as Miggy Cabrera on the roster? Asking for a friend.
  25. I have no complaints whatsoever... With paying off his final year and telling him he's off the roster. And he can still stay with the team as a Bench (cheerleader) Coach and wave to the fans every game. And hobnob with all the other players (both teams) in all the day's downtime... No complaints whatsoever. PS: this is not an old man yells at cloud situation, btw...
