Interesting... Let's see what he can do at Grand Rapids...
-
They could still do both. Hooker would learn/ rehab for a year. A good veteran backup QB would be a smart thing to do. As well as drafting Hooker, IMO.
-
PS: So your answer is... Luck? ... in avoiding the injury bug...? Great response.
-
If Holmes drafts Hooker... I guess you will be proven otherwise.
-
It's called going to the Super Bowl. You don't go to the Super Bowl if you have NOTHING behind your starting QB and he gets nicked for a few weeks or in the playoffs. It's the same reason we need to draft at least a backup RB behind Williams/ Swift... Those guys are AWESOME!!! "Why do we need a backup RB behind those two awesome guys?" "Can you guarantee that Swift will be healthy for the playoffs next year?" "No." That's why.

Don't give a shit. Height of his prime athletic years, and good for another 5-6 years or so. PERFECT as a backup to Goff. Couldn't get any better than that. Which is why I want the Panthers to panic and give us extra 2nds and 3rds... And we can use one of them (or ours) on Hooker.
-
That allows them to avoid responsibility since they are Republicans, not a Republic. I understand what you are saying/ getting at... they do seem to want to live in a banana republic instead of a democracy... But for full culpability... it has to be: Banana Republican Party
-
I want Hendon Hooker in the 2nd round.
-
PS: The Seahawks are also talking heavily about a QB with their #5 pick. A rare opportunity for them as they haven't picked top 10 in around 10 years or so (I didn't verify... just reading the article...). Everyone is assuming they'll select defense. But if they grab, say Anthony Richardson as the perfect guy to sit behind Geno Smith for two years learning, before he takes over the helm... That bodes particularly well for the Lions. EITHER a top D'lineman drops to us in Anderson or Carter, as well as Murphy and/or Wilson... and Holmes can pick whoever he wants... OR: In a desperate move to grab the last 1st-round/ franchise-level QB on the board (and leapfrog the Raiders looking to do the same), the Panthers trade us the #9, this year's 2nd and 3rd, and next year's 2nd round picks... 😁😁😁

Ewww. No. Guy Pearce. I prefer Dark Angel Biden though. And the Banana Republican Party. Thank you very much.
-
PS: He looks like Guy Pearce with a blond mullet...
-
Is that... Dark Angel Biden? In Aviators...?
-
That's my new name for the Pubs... In every conversation, text, email, post, etc... I will refer to them as the: Banana Republican Party. Or the BRP (burp). It makes sense.

Yes.

No, the expectations are still there... It's just still a little early for them yet... I believe I'm on record previously stating that I wanted them to both buy and sell at the deadline. I've posted that in here the past three weeks at least. I still think that, and I still like having an outside shot at trying to get into the playoffs, but... I don't see a reason to lose Bertuzzi for absolutely nothing. If we don't come to an agreement with him on an extension, he needs to be traded. I hate to say the same thing about Larkin... I don't want to trade him... but what if it comes to us losing him for nothing? Are we happy with that? And the guys I was interested in trading for - Horvat, Meier, or Chychrun - have already been traded or it no longer makes sense to trade for who is remaining. Also, I was interested in a Leddy trade like last year, in which SY finds an unused kid or two in a trade (like Walman) that, given some ice time, could blossom. I even had my eyes on two Maple Leafs that exactly met that definition... I proposed trading for in another forum: Connor Timmins (RH'd D'man to try and balance out our pairings...) and Joseph Woll, a 6' 3" goalie splitting time between AHL & NHL this year saving at a .930 rate. I think they should try to build at the same time that they might be trading away... If SY is able to come up with the right trade... Otherwise... If there is anyone that a team has an interest in, that is not a part of our future... I do not mind moving on from that player. At all. I don't see why anyone would. If they are a UFA and not a key part of our future that is.

They may have already missed the boat on that... All the big names and big trades for huge amounts of assets have already occurred. After these past two games, one not different than the other... Yzerman needs to SELL, SELL, SELL !!! Although, like I said... I think the loudest shouting has already taken place so SY may end up only with table scrap trades at this point, I'm thinking.

Which says that this year's playoff run (or the attempt to even get into the playoffs...) is an excellent learning situation for these Red Wings. I'd love to bring up Edvinsson and Soderblom specifically for this reason... Let them know how hard other teams play when the playoffs are on the line, or IN the playoffs if they can make it in. If they get into the playoffs, I don't care as much about the wins or losses as much as that they learn how different playoff hockey is from regular season hockey. Everyone needs to get tougher, from the bigger Red Wings all the way down to the little guys...
-
Funny looking at the screwed up boxscore... Suter & Sundqvist assisted on Bertuzzi's goal but it's Larkin & Perron with the +1's...
-
What about a DE who can play all along the line and specifically the 3-technique on passing downs? I think both Murphy and Wilson will be capable of playing all along the line given situational game-planning, so, especially on passing downs, you could have a Houston-Wilson-McNeil-Hutch line (for example).

I'm reading that the "character issues" are way overblown. It's hard to know what to believe anymore. This happens every year. From what I can tell, it would NOT be "character" issues that are the... uhhh... issue... But from Holmes/ Campbell's perspective the relevant issues that would concern these two are how much "dog" he has in him, how dedicated he is to football, how much of a leader he is, etc... If there are no "real" character issues, but the team chose Anderson instead of Carter, given that they get this choice, then I think it's the reasons that I listed above that they take a pass... (if it's based on "character").
-
Just my opinion but... I think if the Lions are afforded the choice between Carter and Anderson... They'll choose Carter first, not Anderson.
-
I think Jamo is going to be an... Odell Beckham in his first 3 years... 95 catches, 1,400 yards, 12 TD's on an annual basis...

Key question: What would be the cost difference between re-signing Anzalone or signing Wagner?
-
What would be the difference (in AAV) between re-signing Anzalone or... Signing Wagner to a 3-year $30 mill contract? Or would it be $36 mill? I think because of age Wagner gets less than his last contract. And I think the Lions would definitely be a consideration for him...

I listed more than just 6' 3" guys because I think that's a ridiculous requirement. A guy is 6' 2" and has both jump and 4.40 speed but is excluded by your definition? Sorry, but... I'll rely on Holmes' ability to identify a guy who can beat deep coverage either with (A) speed, or (B) leaping/ high-point ability, or (C) height advantage over most CB's/ safeties, or (D) separation/ route-running ability, or (E) any combination thereof. All I need is a guy who can get open deep and make catches, whether he's 5' 11 or 6' 5" or any height in-between. There is no reason, NONE, to limit draftable receivers to Johnston and only Johnston. That is beyond ridiculous. You wanna say Johnston is the best and that's why you want the Lions to draft him... got it. But there's no other WR that the Lions would want or could make fit into their offense...? Insanity.
