Anybody Want Some Lithium (& other assorted items)?
1984Echoes replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Politics
This really needs to be broken down into a DAILY expectation of driving mileage. Which requires two things: 1) The Daily Expectation: What is a top daily driving expectation? 12 hours at 60 miles per hour average (stops for bio-breaks, traffic slowdowns, meals, slower MPH driving areas, stoplights, etc...), TOPS? That's 720 miles per day, which should be roughly topping out the mileage expectation... Recalibrate expectations, per your point, and maybe we could live with lower expectations... BUT... even at that top expectation (or even higher), batteries are not too far off as is... although the additional point here is that current batteries lose top daily mileage with charges/ battery life/ temperatures/ etc. 2) The Second Point is that: Infrastructure. No matter where you are in the US, overnight anyone/ anywhere MUST be able to recharge their car/ battery to a full charge for the next day's driving. -
I'm not saying the US should jump into the middle of this... My point was that Armenia and Azerbaijan both used to be a part of the Soviet Union... Now, neither one of them wants anything to do with Russia...
-
The UAV precursor... But also, it now has both of those countries effectively removed from the former Soviet Union's "sphere of influence".
-
Yep. But also... they thought the US would do more as we were a part of that agreement as well. Just not as guaranteed as Ukraine thought we were giving. I don't remember the exact semantics that held us out of protecting them from Russia...
-
No no... Armenia is PISSED that Russia refused to help them when Azerbaijan made incursions into Armenia, particularly last year around Sept... It seems that Russia was.... ummm... preoccupied? Azerbaijan currently is occupying a part of Armenia itself. The last CSTO (Russia's "NATO" pale shadow) military get together in January, 2023, which was supposed to be in Armenia: Armenia said "no way, not in our country." They're fed up with Russia and have been for at least a couple years+ or so...

Irrelevant. They haven't asked for nukes.

I liked the Fulmer trade. I thought Sawyer Gipson-Long was Olson 2.0... I approved. -

As long as the U.S. has "the necessaries". -
I figure I'd start a thread on the impact of Biden's policies focusing on a few specific items (mostly my interests from my manufacturing background...); although there may be some overlap: 1) The push to bring some key manufacturing back to the U.S. - specifically microchips, but also EV incentives, EV batteries, etc. 2) Infrastructure - the rebuilding of U.S. roads, bridges, electrical grid, national internet, etc... 3) The sourcing of key industries & raw materials within the US. This also might be primarily microchips and EV batteries, but may also include other specific items as well as the key issue driving the supply lines for these items: The sourcing of raw materials. IE: Lithium, one of the current key raw materials for EV batteries, as well as countless rare earth metals. As for lithium, a nice find: https://www.yahoo.com/news/colossal-cache-lithium-found-us-100005781.html

I like that they've been so proactive... It takes a small amount of heat off of the U.S. It provides a "push" to slow-moving countries (especially Germany but a bit of a push in the U.S. as well...) It shows there are other countries aside from us that can take a leadership position. And from my perspective: it's always been "give them what they want", so Ukraine should already have ATACMS as far as I'm concerned, F-16's, depleted uranium shells, etc... So keep pushing UK! Just my 2 cents.

The Lions Love Vatai... Why...? Five highest-graded offensive players (with enough snaps): RG Halapoulivaati Vaitai (88.4), RB Jahmyr Gibbs (78.8), QB Jared Goff (76.5), RT Penei Sewell (75.5), C Frank Ragnow (75.1) -

Need 5 innings still, they've never changed that rule so... Gotta wait a little bit... -
We already had this conversation, I think maybe even earlier in this thread... I forget if you were a part of that convo but I'm thinking you were... It's exactly as you've stated it. It's in this thread because... a comparison was made between Afghanistan and Ukraine, by myself. Both involve a failure of US Intelligence to evaluate the "mood" of the population... per your comparison, the same as what happened in Vietnam. US Intelligence is consistently NOT evaluating mood: South Vietnamese = hated their President as a corrupt elite not interested in their welfare/ perfectly open to North Vietnamese leadership and, also, the overriding desire to expel ALL foreign forces, no matter the cost; North Vietnamese = a desire to expel ALL foreign forces, no matter the cost; Afghanistan = corrupt government, corrupt military, corrupt belief in themselves as a nation, a population with no actual desire to fight against the Taliban; Ukraine = complete misunderstanding of Ukrainian rage against Russia, going back at least as far as the Holodomor, and even previous to that their declaration of Independence in 1917 that was stamped out by the nascent Soviet Union in 1921, but also including the 2014 invasion... The Ukrainians were going to fight tooth & nail against any Russian invasion. Did US Intelligence understand that?

If you have about 4,000 of them that's worth around $4. You could get yourself a slice of pizza and a Coke with that. -

I get YES (Yankees) Network on my cable (for local NY/NJ area...), So I've been watching most of the Yankees/ Tigers games the last two weeks (home and away series). But I don't think YES will be common or national... I turn the volume way down so I don't have to listen to the Yankees broadcasters... they're not bad, and talk a bit on the Tigers but it's mostly Yankees talk so the volume stays low. One funny moment was when Manning took the ball off his heel (not funny for us) they kept saying he took one off his ass. For about 10 minutes until they figured it out. It clearly hit his foot. They just really had a fetish for Manning's backside? -
He is an Agent of Russia. Providing aide to the enemy... Which means...
