The problem with that is that I want to retire to Lakeland, Florida...
How about shipping all of them to Alaska? And they can take DeSantis with them.
Trump can build a new Mar-a-Lago in YORK, Alaska... right across from Russia so he and Palin and all the other Putin-Fascist-Loving sycophants of his can "keep an eye" on Russia. Or take a quick boat ride over there so they can experience Putinistic Fascism first-hand since they are so in love with it...
Master builder that he is...
No.
If Trump went into exile, either forcefully or voluntarily...
The cult would die.
Not Trumpism, or the White Trash Bigots that form that core of support...
But without their leader... the cult part of it withers and dies.
IMO.
Can we just use an abandoned mine shaft?
No money involved...
Just toss him down the shaft...
And the only thing Secret Service would need to worry about is stopping me from going to the edge of that mine shaft and peeing over the edge...
I'll say this again...
I would be VERY OK with buying out his option. What's he have left? 3 years? So $30 mill gives him a $10 mill/ year bump as it seems he is VERY underpaid at the level his current contract runs given the level of excellence he is currently pitching at...
But I am really NOT as enthused for an extension. In fact, very much against that...
But also...
How serious are the Tigers about extending/ buying out his option?
They were pretty motivated to trade him this deadline so...
Still...
A huge grain of salt here...
IMO.
I can live with this possibility however...
That Harris stuck to his guns and wouldn't accept an unacceptable trade.
And maybe they are more serious about holding onto Eduardo (and he has mutual feelings) than what I have in my head...
We'll see.
But... still... The White Sox, Mets, and Cardinals traded two Starting pitchers each, along with relievers and sundry other players... Harris couldn't squeeze out any acceptable offer from any other team aside from the Dodgers?
That is disappointing.
I do NOT want to see an Eduardo extension.
A buyout of his option, YES.
An extension, NO.
But, also...
I'm going to take this with a huge grain of salt... until I see otherwise.
It seems like window-dressing after the fact (of the miss at the deadline...).
But we'll see...
I don't believe he'll be open to discussing an extension... just guessing... but also, I don't think the Tigers are interested in "extension" talks either... IMO. Maybe they would be open to buying out his option if that's a possibility...
But I don't think so.
And I don't believe he'd be open to that either. IMO.
They just tried to trade him to LA where he DEFINITELY did not want to play.
He's opting out at the end of this season.
We get nothing.
Except the beauty of his remaining starts for 2023...
IMO.

There's no possible way that the two teams knew this for DAYS but still spent all this time trying to hammer out a deal.
What a colossal waste of time for both teams if they KNEW this but still wasted time working on a deal.
Seriously?
Which to my point is STILL a fail by wasting time on a deal that was dead before it began.
The timing of when they wasted that time is moot point.
Reading comprehension.
They're at roughly:
LESS $65 million right now, doing nothing.
Move Eduardo and their payroll is down $80 mill from this year, before making any moves.
(Miggy, Schoop, Lorenzen, Boyd, Cisnero, Turnbull, Austin Meadows).

This is a whiff by Harris...
If he's communicating with Eduardo... and is pretty certain he'll pull his no-trade option on a Dodgers deal...
Then he should have been all-in on the Orioles instead... Harris can still negotiate with the Dodgers/ Reds/ etc./ other teams...
But when push comes to shove, he has to pull the trigger on a deal from a team that Eduardo does not have on his no-trade/ cannot nix the deal. Even if it's a lower haul than a Dodgers deal... you take the best deal that won't be nixed.
Push the Orioles as far as they'll go and take their deal. Even if a potential Dodgers deal is better...
IMO.
