Great. I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. But I still think it is absolutely asinine to have a lottery in the NHL or MLB. Just because one of my teams gets some lottery luck doesn't mean I'm going to go: "Oh WOW. Now I LOVE lotteries!!!" Asinine NHL & MLB lotteries, period. That, or I just hate lotteries in general (I do). Even if the Red Wings luck into the #1 spot and get Bedard... it doesn't change my opinion at all.

Chauncey Billups -
And so the NHL team with the worst record should have 1st chance at drafting him.

Not only that... But it's pointless to even theorize about "tanking" in the NHL and MLB (with no lottery thank Zeus) because it takes so frickin' long for prospects to develop. I at least get the theory in the NBA... But the lottery in the NHL is just completely asinine. IMO.

This is getting too complicated for me...

They left as Free Agents. Too expensive. Out with the old and in with the new...

Week Eighteen: Detroit Lions (8-8) @ Green Bay Packers (8-8)

He was hearing footsteps and dropping passes because of it. Alligator arms and whatnot. I saw it several times over the season. That's avoiding contact and not in a good way. -
Right... Something to seriously consider of course...

Walman's doing great. And Seider is benefitting greatly from that pairing with 4 assists tonight (!!!) Both are +3

Looks like they F'ed up by pairing Chiarot with Hronek as Chiarot is still sucking wind this season and is now dragging Hronek down with him... who was doing so damn well paired up with Maata. Quit trying to force Chiarot onto a pairing just because Stevie spent some bucks on him. Drop him to the 3rd line. Get Maata back paired up with Hronek. Please.

I think they really love Vaitai. I believe he's got a lot of "dawg" in him. He's not old for an O'Lineman at 30 y.o. next year, and he's played damn well at 6' 6" 330 #'s at guard. If they spend a draft pick on an O-Lineman I think it's a depth pick with the 3rd, or 5th, or one of the 6ths. Instead of cap casualty, I think they extend him (and Goff) for a couple years and convert any salary to bonus money dropping the annual cap hit for savings... But I'm just guessing.

Agreed.

That's what I agree with... which, to me, means a later round project that the team believes they can develop into at least a competent backup, and/or a FA signing that is better than Nate Sudfeld (who I think is actually a capable backup, nothing spectacular... but just good enough to handle a couple games if needed...).

Let me state that more bluntly: I don't give a fuck about Biden having a moment of irresponsibility. That falls under "it happens". I do give a damn about the incessant criminal behavior of TFG. But here's the question, to ewsieg: Why are you constantly demanding that we give a fuck about minor inconsequential issues that we don't give a fuck about; in order to make you feel better about this "both sides scenario" that you've created? Because that's what it boils down to. And not to be vulgar... but seriously... If someone said Biden once drove 40 in a 35 MPH zone!!! I just don't really give an F. But you keep demanding that we do.

That's what was in my previous comment... You better KNOW that you are getting a better QB than Goff otherwise, what's the point?
-
I agree he goes with elite athletes, elite playmakers, elite gamechangers. But here 's where I would disagree: 1) He's aware of positional value and drafts accordingly. Today's game devalues RB's. I don't think he'll use a 1st on a RB. 2) He also is aware of team building. That doesn't overrule talent... but if there's an opportunity to address both a great talent and a need, I believe he takes those opportunities. That's why I see both 1st rounders on Defense. Both the need, and the talent, are there. So a 1st round QB better be better than Goff. And I don't see one better than Goff in this year's draft. So a later round backup QB to be drafted at best, not a 1st rounder. Should he draft an OT at #6 if the OT is the best talent? (a) I see the better talent at DT/ DE than at OT, although others may disagree, (b) the need is for 1 more DL'man talent to build a ferocious defense, and (c) as would have it, several extremely talented game changers most likely will be there in 1 of Jalen Carter, Will Anderson & Myles Murphy. Why CB? Because there are several elite talents at CB that 1 or 2 should be available at 18 and not only will they be amongst the most talented players available at that point, but in building the Lions, that's the highest position of need. A marriage of talent and need so to speak. And again, instead of considering Bijan Robinson if he's there, I think Holmes will default to positional value and the devaluation of 1st round RB's in the league. Just my 2 cents.

Week Eighteen: Detroit Lions (8-8) @ Green Bay Packers (8-8)

That's also not trusting your blockers. That's what Staley was yelling at him for in training camp. Basically: "Look at the film, these guys created a lane for you but you were too impatient and busted it outside for a 2 yard loss instead of a 5 yard gain." I see 3 running issues with Swift outside of availability (injuries): 1) Too impatient, bounces outside too much, looking for the home run; although I think he cut that down this year. 2) I think this is closely related, but I wanted to mention it as a separate issue, as I did above: Not trusting the play/ his blockers. This also is close to your double versus HR. There's at least one run I saw with 3 blockers in front of him and only 2 defenders, and space potentially opening up... and he still bounced it outside... for nothing. He is not trusting the play/ his blockers enough as Staley reamed him out for... 3) Afraid of contact. Buddha and everyone else in here saw it and commented on it (buddha quite a lot...). Probably hesitancy whilst playing through injuries... but it's there. It was there a lot this year. -
Our 2nd round picks are mid and late. I'm fine with using any of the 2nd or 3rd round picks as long as we can get the right guy... like MC said, not Kerryon, Abdullah, or LeShoure. That still leaves the two 1sts, and 2 of 3 picks in the mid-to-late 2nd and mid 3rd for other defensive help. I don't care which pick they use if Holmes feels like he's getting the right guy.

Oh me too, absolutely. But then... my name's not Carlos Correa and I don't play MLB SS...
-
PS: Wasn't he much better off if he never opted out...?
-
What did he go from...? $340 mill to $300 mill to $200 mill? Ouch.

Damn!!! That's not a bad draft!!!
