Can you guarantee that Swift will be available for the Playoffs next year? I want a 2nd or 3rd round RB drafted. I won't be swayed otherwise.
-
Paschal, Cominsky, and Houston will not stop the Lions from drafting Myles Murphy or Tyree Wilson. My 1st choice would be Jalen Carter... but I would happily take Murphy or Wilson... Trent Simpson, LB'er. Or a CB. I don't see a RB picked here nor a 2nd DL'man... Another DL here? Why?

Anybody see The Menu? Pretty wicked...!

NOT a correct statement. -

I still think we need additional high-end RB depth though (not trying to use that as a reason to push for drafting another RB... but, I am...). It especially doesn't hurt if a team is trying to make a run for the playoffs either. An injury that might actually knock one of our top two RB's out for the season might be just enough to lose out on a playoff spot. Maybe the team gets through that scenario and into the playoffs anyways... But I see no reason to NOT draft a 2nd or 3rd round RB for depth. I hope Swift has a 100% healthy season next year and rushes for 1,500 and catches 600 yards... But I still want a high end backup just in case and, just for the depth... -

I'm fine with that. Kudos to him. -
If there's a legitimate basis for objection I raise no complaints. If the 2020 Republicans had a legitimate basis for objection I wouldn't have my current position. But their objections were NOT legitimate, they were based on pure fabrication, on Trump and his lawyers stream of lies, they KNEW it, and they objected anyways not caring if it falsely overturned our Democracy. They are Benedict Arnold Enemies of Democracy (and that's not the actual words I use to name them but I'm working hard to reduce the NSFW language...).

They are signing back Practice Squad players on futures contracts already...: https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2023/1/9/23547274/detroit-lions-sign-10-players-to-futures-deal-for-2023 Here’s a look at the players who have been re-upped for 2023: RB Jermar Jefferson WR Maurice Alexander WR Stanley Berryhill WR Tom Kennedy OT Obinna Eze OT Darri Paulo DT Demetrius Taylor CB Jarren Williams CB Khalil Dorsey S Brady Breeze

I don't believe the 147 are criminal... But I DO believe that the 147 are "enemies of democracy." They objected based on a lie. And they KNEW that it was a lie (they're not stupid, they knew TFG was just playing a game...); but went ahead and chose to take action on a lie anyways. I'm not even mentioning the Jan 6th coup attempt. They chose BULLSHIT, o/w AKA Trump's LIE, over Democracy. In my mind, they, and the same with the Senators who objected based on a lie, Trump and all his supporters and lawyers/ advisors that were pushing the lie, are all ENEMIES (yes, all-CAPS both in this instance and in all my previous instances...), of democracy. Just my 2 cents.

For anyone who can't stop drinking the Honolulu Blue Kool Aid (that might be me too...!) You can watch the game again tonight on NFL channel at 8PM. I don't see anything else on interesting... I might watch the game again... -
Plus... I'm hoping Ben Johnson is looking at the interviews as a learning experience only and the actual job (any NFL head coaching job) as... "I'm not quite ready for this and don't want to fail". I hope he makes a personal decision to stick with the Lions and learn from Campbell how to head coach (as DC learned under Sean Payton) for at least a couple years before taking off for an HC opportunity. I know they don't come around that often and ya' take the opportunity when it presents itself... I'm just sayin'... (not entirely without a personal vested interest in my Detroit Lions team...).

I don't think there's any need to do that either. There are 5 or 6 RB's I think that would work well as a #2 (after Jamaal & Swift as #1A and #1B)... I would be comfortable with any of them and at least a couple should be available at our 2nd round pick... Blake Corum is going back to UM though... I think he was like the 7th or 8th guy on my radar...

I don't think he sucks. -
He's looked dreadful for 3 out of 4 years. He only looked good last year because every other Lions CB was even worse. I think the Lions/ Hughes/ Campbell/ Glenn all know that so... Maybe I'm wrong... But I think the team will move on from him. My 2 cents.

I think the team has said that they actually like these guys: Okudah, Jerry Jacobs, Mike Hughes. Guys that they are going to give more chances to/ develop further because they are young/ just drafted/ have upside/ other-similar: Chase Lucas, Khalil Dorsey, AJ Parker, Jarren Williams, Saivion Smith, maybe Bobby Price? I'm not counting Melifonwu as I think they are pushing him at Safety and no longer as CB, or Will Harris who plays a CB/ Safety hybrid position... (although maybe I SHOULD count Harris based on their usage of him...?) One other thing... The guys on this list will easily be replaced by some other undrafted free agent or another team's cast-off... by virtue of being outhustled or by whatever... Meaning that the ones who show the most upside or special teams ability, whether it's these guys or any other guys brought in, will stick. Maybe we get a nickel out of these guys... or not. But this is just bottom of the roster churn. I'm not counting on anything aside from low-level depth... any upside we get is just gravy. But they do fit the narrative of getting to your 90 guys in camp. New guys: I can almost bet we'll spend a 1st on a CB and a 2nd or 3rd on a Safety. So a couple new high-end guys for the secondary. And that Hughes will be very, very open to spending FA money on a high-end CB. That's two new high end CB's for the Lions (IMO) for 2023. Plus whoever we pick up as a 6th rounder, or undrafted, or from other teams... Listen... I think you're just stuck on the devil-you-know and reluctant to let go of someone who clearly needs to move on. I will almost guarantee that AO will NOT be in training camp. This team is moving on from him. Now.

Keep him on the bench sa a 6th man and see how he handles it next training camp and start to the season. If he buys into it and comes back with a vengeance, there's our answer. If he pouts and half asses it... there's our answer. -
Nope. No, no, no, no, no. NO! IMO... they'll draft a CB high. Strike 1 against AO. IMO... if they're spending on an outside FA... it'll be on a CB. And they'll shoot high. Strike 2. IMO... they do NOT like/ believe in AO. At all. Strike 3. He's out. Out of the Lions Org for good. IMO. Did I mention the word NO on AO?

That's GOTTA be the 2023 motto. I mean, aside from winning the division and making hay in the playoffs... #BNL or just BNL ...is going to be the new "mantra"... -
I think there is a ZERO chance that that happens. Not a NON-zero chance... 0 chance.
-
First bold: I don't think there's any crazy money in there except for MAYBE Jamaal but... No, not him either. My prediction: we re-sign all these guys. With no drama/ overpayments attached. Second bold: I think Brockers, Harris, and Okwara are definites. I don't think Vatai is, and actually I really hope they hold on to him for 2023...
-
Couple of minor quibbles...: An OT also goes in the top 5 (IMO) and I don't think it's Anderson that falls... but maybe. So, I think it's most likely between Jalen Carter or Myles Murphy as our choice at #6, with an outside shot at Anderson. All good options, although my choices in order would be Carter, Murphy, then Anderson (I think...). I think AO24 is a UFA. Meaning: we don't resign him and he doesn't even make it to training camp with the Lions.

Good loss. Bey and Stewart (when the time comes) to the 2nd unit as dominating 6th men. -

It's SO SAD... Instead of putting TFG in prison, where he belongs, instead... we get all of these "reports": Fulton County: "Trump was a bad, bad boy, and should be in prison. But..." Jan 6th: "Trump was a VERY bad boy, and should be in prison. But..." NY Attorney General: "Trump was not very nice, and should be in prison. But..." IRS and NY State Tax Authorities: "Trump FUCKED us, and should be in prison. But..." DOJ: "Trump should just be in prison. But..."
