  1. Thanks. Will do.
  2. And there are many, many, many players who won't even CONSIDER Detroit for one reason or another. I'm sorry... but you have to start there... The player first has to be willing to consider the Tigers and that is NOT every player. Don't fool yourself into thinking that we can just "buy" any player we want by offering the most money. It's not going to work like that. So I'm going to fall back on what I said previously, and we won't find out the answer until Free Agency, but: find me the guy that signs with the Tigers to play 3B in 2023, and I'll show Candy the door. Until then... he's the stopgap option, and I tender him for next year until and unless a different option commits.
  3. There are lots of reasons someone might not sign here.
  4. Does Amazon Prime put any of their stuff out on Blu Rays...? I don't have it and am wondering whether I should incur the cost or instead purchase The Rings of Power by season on Blu Ray, if that were an option. Actually, that would be my preferred option. I don't shop much on Amazon, it's not zero but it's pretty damn close to zero. I don't see Prime as an attractive option unless there were some compelling reason... I don't even know how much it costs...
  5. I'll believe it when I see it. I think this answers G2 as well... Show me the FA we sign to play 3B and I will personally go show Jeimer Candelario where the exit door is...
  6. Again... Who is going to be willing to take Detroit's money this offseason? That's the very first question that needs to be answered. Sign an All-Star FA 3B'man and of course Candy is non-tendered. But what is the answer to the first key question: who is going to take our money this offseason to come play for the 2023 Tigers?
  7. I would agree with this... But how do you get him away from the Giants? Even if he's a FA (I didn't check contract status)... the same question applies: how do you get him away from the Giants/ California... to come to Michigan?
  8. The money doesn't mean a thing to me. And besides, I think it's going to be very difficult to spend our money this offseason... We don't exactly resemble a "Go-To" location this winter. At least not until this team/ new GM fixes a few things and we start back up to looking better on the field. I think it takes next year to recover Org value/ destination value... Just my 2 cents.
  9. That may also be the option. I don't know if the Org is there yet... I'm not, just yet... But we'll see soon enough this offseason what their thinking is...
  10. Then again... Maybe he's looking for an early pathway out of Detroit...? And a non-tender...? Doesn't seem logical, but...
  11. Backup. Catcher. Defense first.
  12. You know I've already "retired" Cabrera right? Mentally and emotionally (if only I had the power to do that managerially...). And I believe the assessment is that Haase isn't the greatest defensive catcher...? Last point: Sanchez could very well possibly still be the 3rd catcher... but still at Toledo in 2023?
  13. I'd rather the $7 mill for 1 year than anything on a multi-year. Personal preference.
  14. Aah, yeah, right. But it still might be minorly valuable to add that glove to his resume. Aside from they sort of got to...
  15. I bring him back just to be able to cover 3B for 1 year. That's it. The same thing we did in trading for Barnhart. Just as a stopgap to cover a spot for a year. If he does well, trade him at the deadline. That's it. There's no signing him to another contract... as we've seen, not enough consistency and there's been a definite drop this year, on both sides of the ball. That's it. For Jeimer.
  16. Chance Kirby's day to shine: 6 shutout inn's with 2 hits 1 BB 6 K's and... Whoops! He pitched the 7th too and just gave up 3 runs including a HR... Another late rounder (25th round in 2018) with a nice minor league career (340 inn's and 1.10 WHIP, 2.52 ERA this year in AA with a 0.98 WHIP...), but he's 27 already and I don't believe he's on the Beau Brieske/ Garrett Hill arc... but I just wanted to give a shout out to him... Brendan White followed him... (ANOTHER Al Avila late rounder, 26th round in 2019), he's only 23 years old with a career (in the minors) 191 innings and 1.23 WHIP. K's about 9 per 9, this year at AA 2.75 ERA and 0.97 WHIP and 9.8 K's/9: uncertain if he follows the Garrett Hill path to MLB, maybe as a middle reliever? Just adding him to the stockpile... Giving him a shout out too. Chances are... Parker so far today with another double, 2 for 4 and also his 15the steal of the year. 2 more innings to go for Erie to close this out... Toledo: Wentz had a short outing with 3 inn's 5 hits, 1 BB, 1 ER, and 3 K's... pitch count? They have 11 hits and 5 BB's today but there's no one there that I'm currently excited about... Maybe Ali Sanchez as a backup catcher? .732 OPS this year in AAA before today's 3 for 4 (all singles). He's playing 1st Base so they're trying to expand his positions for a utility role in 2023? I could do that. Rogers at Catcher and Haase backing up + OF/ RH'd DH and Sanchez as backup catcher and 1B and...? I think he's the better defensive catcher so he's our #1 backup catcher next year? Just a WAG...
  17. If he wants to graduate to a higher echelon he'll have to stop that...
  18. I'm just guessing that this is a AAAA reward...
  19. Oh don't put money on that... you'll lose. Seriously, you're betting that Avila's group of prospects are all going to fail?
  20. Too early to say...
  21. The critical issue with Jobe is to develop his pitches... I think the results will kick up soon enough. I'd like to see him in Erie next year...
  22. Speakinz of the devilz: Flores in 5 innings at Erie 1 hit 2 BB's and 7 K's. Also, Parker hit 2 doubles in a 2 for 4.
  23. Exactly correct (and I stated that too, in the next paragraph...).
  24. If you look at Flores scouting grades though you can see where Micro is exactly correct. He's a two-pitch pitcher with a really nice curveball and fastball. But everything else is a below-average pitch. He'll need to develop a changeup or something else as a 3rd pitch to keep hitters honest/ survive in MLB as a starter. And as Micro said, his command and control are not good enough yet. So that's back-end starter or pushed into the BP. Which doesn't change anything on Bowden seeing him as a possible top 50 guy... it falls right back on development: both on the individual to develop these skills and on the Org being able to facilitate that development...
  25. Absolutely. I don't see anyone who has stated "oh wow, these guys are our next Aces...' Again, and to reiterate mtutiger: perfectly fine. A rotation has to be filled out and I don't expect 5 Aces (my definition is just a guy who fits into a top 3 spot on a pennant contending team...) to be in our rotation. As how I see it, we have a crapload of back-end rotation guys who will end up as (A) 4th and 5th starters for the Tigers, or... (B) pushed into the bullpen as middle/ long relievers/ spot starters or... (C) Stall out in AAA as 6th/ 7th/ 8th starters. I really hope Manning/ Skubal/ Mize/ Jobe/ Turnbull can find their way into those top 3 spots in a future Tigers rotation. Maybe Eduardo is already a top 3 guy. At least a couple of those guys I think we all hope make it to the top of the rotation. And I don't expect all 5 of those guys to make it. But... in order to finish out the rotation, if one of those guys gets traded/ FA/ injured/ can't cut it... we turn to the Wentz/ Brieske/ Madden/ Olson/ Flores/ Hill types and hope that at least a couple of those guys can hang in MLB and pitch well enough to hold onto those 4th and 5th starter spots. Or be available at AAA to pop up during the season a few times for a few starts... as needed. But I'm just thinking out loud here... About our future that is.
