1) No. I was sort of expecting something to happen since... where there's smoke there is often... fired. But even so... I was thinking he was going to get kicked upstairs instead of tossed into the street. I'll state how I feel about that in point #3... 2) Wouldn't it be really, really, REALLY.... ... Ironic... If the 2025 Tigers turns out pretty damn close to what I had posted? That we actually have the Lou Whitaker (never said Trammell... not even a Bubba...), Lance Parrish, etc... types in our system so that the 2025 roster will be 95% homegrown from all of Al's draft picks the past 5 years or so... and the team is actually ALSO playoff/ championship contender quality? 3) I sort of want to see that. And if anything, feel bad for Al. Especially if my 2nd point comes true and and the next GM benefits from everything that Avila put into place. Including the analytics, data systems, draft picks, scouting and development team changes, etc... I think he probably verbally raised expectations with Chris and when everything crapped out he had basically already shot himself in the foot. I think I would have preferred he be kicked upstairs because if he really has put everything in place... he'll end up getting zero credit, even if a competitive 2024-2028-ish team is 95% built by Al's draftees. I know how people are. But am I pissed? Nah... I have no control over this so I'm not going to sweat it. I just hope whoever comes in can get this team back into contention. With or without all of Al's "beautiful 1984-ish" draftee picks.

I really thought that's exactly what would have happened, Al kicked upstairs and a new guy as GM... At least until today when Al was shown the exit door...

And if everyone is sick of patience, or has none left, then... Too fucking bad. Not to be rude but... the only way the team structure changes is if Avila makes changes or if Ilitch decides to make a change to the "man at the top (AA)". Otherwise.... So you're sort of stuck. You have no choice but to live with this team as is, and with all these rookies coming up, until Ilitch says different. One can always just walk away if you've had enough with patience. But I've seen enough to know to stick with this team. Maybe I'm influenced by my teenage years when Whitaker/ Trammell/ Morris/ Rozema/ Petry/ Parrish/ Gibson/ Kemp/ Jason Thompson/ and others all came up at the same time and that may be clouding my vision... But I don't think so. Worst news: Those guys all came up essentially from 1977-1979... And I had to WAIT FIVE YEARS MORE before they won a championship in 1984. I've learned something with that experience... it's called patience.

We have both. But you can't resolve anything in a rookie year. So it sucks to say this/ I know no one wants to hear this, but: patience.

Small sample size. We don't know yet who is going to thrive versus get reduced roles (middle relievers or bench) versus sink back into AAAA where they belong. It's going to take a few years to hash that all out between the guys who have already made it up, even if it was in an emergency situation, and the guys that are still making their way up the ladder.
