  1. Looks like we're going to have to do this AGAIN, for at least one more year (watch the season ending losses to figure out where in the top 10 of next year's draft that we'll have a chance at getting to...). Sad. 😒
  2. Which is sad, because (A) Shelton was a 33rd rounder, not a 1-1, and (B) Tork hasn't even got to Shelton's (OPS or OPS+) level with the Tigers yet. Tork has more HR's, but is worse than Shelton in every other possible way.
  3. Al Avila was BAD, full stop. And even I do NOT admire Avila. That's the wrong word. THIS is where I'm at. It's not admiration. It's frustration that I can't mention any of these guys, or any other under Avila, before a few people scream at me how atrocious Avila was. I can't mention "Avila", in ANY context, where chas won't post that stupid picture of Avila laughing, which is annoying to no end. And/or other posters spew torrents of hatred and whatever else at Avila. It's NOT reasonable, IMO. Yes, I get that Avila was BAD, full stop. But... "It's possible for someone to be terrible at the job, but still do some good things." Full stop.
  4. PS: I'm particularly high on a couple D-men though: Elick is also at the top of my list but he'll go early as well. After Elick it's Badinka that I like. And there's still a half dozen D'men after those two that I like in Mews, Masse, Pulkkinen, Freij, Kleber... maybe John Mustard...
  5. That was my thinking. He's at the top of my list but they'd have to trade all the way up to get him. Outside of that... Who is on (anyone's) want list in the 2nd and/or 3rd...? I'm pretty wide open at this point so it's BPA to me with no regard to position. Let Stevie find some magic the next couple rounds... wherever that may be/ any position will do... IMO.
  6. So far Sennecke all the way up to 3 and Buium falling all the way to 12 are the biggest surprises to me. Nothing else seems particularly surprising...
  7. Eiserman to the Islanders.
  8. duplicate...
  9. MBN it is...
  10. Well... That went out the door quickly... Sennecke goes to Anaheim at #3. I guess he flew up the boards quite a bit more than I was expecting...
  11. I like Sennecke a lot. A playoff-type power forward... And he might get down to 9-12 range so there'd be a chance. Isn't Demidov a type 5 guy? How does he fall to a range we could get to with a trade-up...?
  12. Celebrini to San Jose 1st is the easy pick... And then...?
  13. If Stevie trades up - just a WAG - He's going after Sennecke. If we stay at 15, I think he's looking at Hage, Brandsegg-Nygard, or Greentree... or if he goes defense: Jiricek or Solburg?
  14. Hmmm... Crickets on draft night... That's interesting!
  15. Trade Deadline 1998: Randy Johnson (struggling in '98 w/ a 4.33 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and only 2 months before free agency) traded for Freddy Garcia (34.2 career WAR), Carlos Guillen (27.7 career WAR), John Halama (5.6 career WAR). Trade Deadline 2008: C.C Sabathia (2 months & then a FA) traded for Michael Brantley (34.3 career WAR), Matt LaPorta (-1 WAR), Zach Jackson (-1 WAR), Rob Bryson (0 WAR). Trade Deadline 2016: Aroldis Chapman (traded to the Cubs by the Yanks for 2 months & then a FA... and Yankees signed him as FA!) traded for Gleyber Torres (14.4 career WAR), Billy McKinney (0 WAR), Adam Warren (6.6 career WAR), Rashad Crawford (0 WAR). Trade Deadline 2002: Bartolo Colon (2 months & then a FA) traded for Grady Sizemore (27.8 career WAR), Cliff Lee (43.2 career WAR), Brandon Phillips (28.4 career WAR). TWO YEARS + 2 months of Skubal is worth SIGNIFICANTLY more than any of the two month rentals above. You don't know what you're talking about.
  16. For a Cy Young candidate? Yes they would. They would take Keith at 2B. And if no on an extra OF'er, then take a reliever of their choice instead. This is probably closer to accurate.
  17. Harvey Kuenn for Rocky Colavito...
  18. Yes... I was just expanding.
  19. Well... Then how about: Buttigieg?
  20. Biden could be a Weekend With Bernie corpse and I'd vote for him over scumbag Trump.
  21. Liar. Felon. Fascist. Criminal. Moron. Anti-democratic/ anti-constitutional. Racist. Divisive. Corrupt. Con-Artist. How much further would you like me to go on...? "I can do this all day."
  22. Reagan looked horrific in the 1984 debates. He was already struggling with Alzheimer's, and it was visible: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/31/health/parsing-ronald-reagans-words-for-early-signs-of-alzheimers.html https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/jan/17/ronald-reagan-alzheimers-president-son Ron Reagan (Jr.) describes his growing sense of alarm over his father's mental condition, beginning as early as three years into his first term. He recalls the presidential debate with Walter Mondale on 7 October 1984. "My heart sank as he floundered his way through his responses, fumbling with his notes, uncharacteristically lost for words. He looked tired and bewildered," Ron Reagan writes. Didn't matter. He trounced Mondale by historic margins. Nancy and team hid him as effectively as they could. But his deterioration was showing prior to the 1984 election.
  23. I'll offer a crazy trade: To the Orioles: Skubal, Colt Keith, and they choose 1 of Baddoo, Malloy, or Perez To the Tigers: Jackson Holliday, Coby Mayo, and Sam Basallo.
  24. If it's the Yankees: Roderick Arias, SS, 19 yo SH'er Lombard Jr., SS or 3B, 19 yo RH Henry Lalane, 19 yo Lefty, 14 K's/9 1.7 BB's/9 in FCL and Chase Hampton, 22 yo RH'er, hasn't played this year with a UCL sprain so he's a risk.
  25. Not any differently than Reagan during HIS 2nd term.
