  1. I would rather go by OPS. If a guy is hitting less than a .600 OPS, what's he doing in the lineup? I could go with one guy like that (a defensive specialist, in CF, SS, or at Catcher); maybe two... tops. And I would hate having two. We have 6 in today's lineup.
  2. Here... I've decided to contribute to this shitbowl of a thread after all... In Javy's first 12 games he hit .292 with an .833 OPS. In Javy's next 17 games he hit .138 with an .346 OPS. In Javy's last 2 games he has hit .250 with an .875 OPS. Say... isn't that what we bought in Javy Baez? Knowing full well that he would be excellent with the glove and on the basepaths and streaky as hell at the plate? Hmmm... I think that's an affirmative. We're getting exactly what we thought we'd get. And it ain't Neifi M Fucking Perez.
  3. This is a stupid, asinine thread.
  4. I want beheadings.
  5. That's a crime, in and of itself. Punishable by up to 10 years in a federal penitentiary. Loss of voting rights. Loss of communications rights while incarcerated (solitary confinement with no media/ internet/ etc. access). The whole shebang.
  6. And doesn't care anyways. It's an easy point to ignore by the willful...
  7. I mean... I cheered when we drafted Darko. I thought we had our own Dirk Nowitzki. On second thought...
  8. Which is weird because the (limited) scouting reports when he played in the Yugoslavian league was that he played a hard game, that he relished knocking players around. That he was not a "soft Euro" which was the common complaint of the time. So what changed between knocking players around in a Euro-league to not really wanting to play basketball after all? Was he just a bully who got his way in Euro against smaller/ slower competition and wilted when facing bigger/ tougher guys in the U.S.? Or something else (Euro play was a "false signal"....?)
  9. Not a dead possum but... How about the Beatles: "Why don't we DO IT in the road?" "No one will be watching us... Why don't we DO IT in the road?"
  10. Unless they end up as part of the top 3 and it's Chet and Paolo who fall in the draft. Then what? One of them? Or Ivey?
  11. This is the correct answer. Which means the OTHER correct answer is that the Wings need to vastly improve their D-Line talent before we can dream of a fast physical defense that can both keep the other team in front of them as well as hit them/ take pucks away from them. That also means a little extra help from the forwards as well so there is also a talent need there of course...
  12. It's a real comic. There was a She-Hulk series of comic books. I wasn't really into comics so I only really learned of this when I started digging into the MCU and they were talking about this (as a future show... what comic series it was based on, background, etc...)
  13. I think both Tork and Greene will be able to become leaders on our now and future teams. If Dingler's bat can cut it in MLB, I think he too has that type of potential. That will put less stress on Baez (I think hugely beneficial) and "retire" Miggy as the expected/ possible/ but not really clubhouse leader. Add some scrappy/talented guy like Kreidler or Workman and I think our leadership team is all set for the future. But we ain't quite yet there... today...
  14. I had him written off to the BP. I thought he'd be good there in short spurt innings instead of a starter's load. Huge plus if he stays in the rotation.
  15. If Lukashenko made any noises about NATO... Putin would stop this insanity immediately. Full stop.
  16. Hmmm... Avila's statement hasn't aged very well...
  17. I've watched that multiple times.
  18. That's actually how I was approaching this year anyways, as a developmental year and not a playoff year. But we were all hoping (myself included) that they'd make a run, perform better than last year, and not start out as total shit like they did last year. So that still sucks...
  19. I don't want to give up on the season just yet... But WTF is wrong with these guys and the 1st 35 games of the season? Do they not understand Sparky-speak?
  20. So sad that it's come to this.
  21. Well... here's my thinking: 1) I believe we're in the "team-building" phase right now, not just the "draft any kind talent we can get our hands on because we have nothing in the NHL or in the farm system" phase... I think Stevie Y has gotten us past the bereft-of-talent stage we were in. Accordingly, IMO, it is more important to add a "key" player rather than a couple really good players. And I get that there's no generational talent or huge separation amongst the top prospects this year... But I believe that a 2nd-line Center is enough of an overwhelming need that we should take that chance. 2) Steve Yzerman. He has balls of steel. 3) I am hoping, along with everyone else in here... and Stevie Y, and whomever our new Head Coach will be... that we actually start playing better... like "in the playoffs next year" better. Our future 1st rounders should start being in the mid-draft to playoff seeded draft spots... hopefully starting next year. The value of a Wright or Cooley.. both extremely dangerous Centers... again, IMO, is more valuable than the 8th guy this year and the 15th guy next year. 4) We're going to have a rush of new prospects coming up this year and next, the timing is right to add key skills. 5) OK.. our D sucks. But referencing #4 above, several of those key youngsters coming up are Defenseman. I want a top 6 Center coming up as soon as possible. That's Wright or Cooley. I want one of them. And I am perfectly fine with Yzerman making a deal to get one of them. If it costs less than (2) 1sts... all the better.
  22. IE: Is it worth it to trade this and next year's 1st rounder to get up to the #1 pick?
  23. Is this a good year for a trade up to, or near, the top? Say top 4 gets us one of Wright, Cooley, or Savoie... Do we want only one of the top two or can we live with a smaller Savoie? Can we get him at #6? Or should we push for a top 3 pick to get most likely Cooley...? What would the cost be? For the #1 pick (Wright)? The #3 pick (Colley)? The # 5 or 6 pick (Savoie)?
