Fascist fucking scum.

Same... I started doing stuff around the house after the 2nd and the Tigers leading 4-1... And come back to this BEATDOWN!!!
-
Just so you guys know... These aren't regular runs. You can't say that the Tigers scored 14 runs today... In fact, anything over 3 runs scored in a single game, for the rest of this season, aren't regular runs... They are RAGE RUNS!!! The Tigers have scored 14 RAGE RUNS!!! today... I thought it was important to note that...

Trump can't even get on a fucking bike. Try again.

The weapons supply to Ukraine absolutely needs to pick up the pace...

Thanks for that...!

I figured they would have revelations but was too scared to hope for stunning revelations... So they still have exceeded my expectations...!

I'm waiting for the Greiner/ Ramos/ Jacoby Jones/ Mazara moment with this team. I also don't care if Clemens hasn't done much. Like you... I think he's still worth taking a flyer on. And I don't care if we have superstars waiting in the minors, or not. Some of these 40 man slots just need to be pushed out the door and next man up, for good or for bad. I don't care. Maybe Clemens figures out MLB pitching and is halfway decent as a bench guy or sometimes 2B starter. How do we know unless he gets enough PA's to prove it one way or another? Same with someone like Kerry Carpenter who may prove he's got nothing in MLB... So what? Give him a shot anyways. When can we have our 2022 Grossman/ Schoop/ Haase (to AAA)/ Tork (to AAA) moment and go next man up, just to give someone else a shot (and the team a shot in the arm?), even if the next guy isn't all that.
-
I didn't really have any set expectations so... I would say definitely exceeded.

How many volts/ amps needed to recharge an E-Car? I'm pretty certain it's not just taking a jump start from a 12-Volt 'nother cars battery...
-
That depends on how fast we roll out the Infrastructure Bill. Which includes a huge investment in a rechargeable-station grid. Can they roll that out faster than E-Cars can be built/ put on the road?

And that's because there is a wide diversity of political opinions within the Dem Party and therefore not one faction is able to exert control over the entire party. Aside from holding Centrist sentiments... I'm also of the mind that you "pass what you can" and what you can't pass you try for at a later time. I'm glad Infrastructure passed. I'm glad it was separated from the rest of BBB because that was not only "what could be passed", it was also what was could be passed to include bipartisanship along with whatever Republicans decided they would actually vote for infrastructure which this country clearly has needed for at least 20 years. I think, politically, it's smarter to "pass what you can" with the balance of BBB items, even if it's only 2 out of 10, because passing 2 is better than passing 0. I think you are stating that and I'm on board with that, always have been. If the rest of the Dem Party could get on board, and decide to pass 3 of the 10... a bill could still be hammered out. And then the balance gets determined in the 2022 elections. I know it's not looking good for Dems at this point... But I pass 2 or 3 of those 10, get what we can, and then I would bet on myself (the Dem Party) and hope for the best.

I'm going to go to the centrist/ fiscal conservative side of my personality to answer this: Foremost in my mind is the tight labor market causing inflation. So... I would want the free kindergarten and the childcare assistance first and foremost since women are staying at home instead of entering the workforce specifically because of these costs. Reduce these costs in the US, millions of young women/ mothers jump back into the workforce, and inflationary pressures in salaries drop. I'm also a firm believer in a college education and therefore a reduction in college loans and/or a reduction in college tuition is a positive for the overall future of this country. The more educated, since we are now fully in an information/ AI/ renewables/ etc. economy, the better. Someone might have some different viewpoints, but I think those two are at the top of my want list... Anything after that is gravy for whoever has a vested interest in those mashed potatoes.

Frickin' Soto. I vote for this.

Real nice outing by Brieske...!

Mmm... Yeah, I'm not certain about that. Meaning... if you're trying to convince anyone that the extremes in the Dem Party are holding it hostage, your BBB example is still way off, it's a bad example. A Centrist (or two) held that bill hostage. And if you're arguing that they couldn't come to an agreement and get a Bill to Biden... well, if you have a party with a diverse spectrum of political opinions then that is exactly WHAT we should expect, that they can't always reach an agreement. However, on the more simple point that it's disappointing that they couldn't get over their disagreements to produce said Bill... because it would also be a political win and provide additional ammo in the battle against the Republicans in upcoming elections... Well yes, I do agree on that. This is never going to be easy. The GOP has a gerry-mandered and electoral advantage that is extremely difficult to overcome. The fascists in the party are willing to lie, cheat, steal, intimidate, or straight up commit fraud to take election wins, deserved or not. And America still remains a "what have you done lately for my wallet" country. They could care less if the Dems are doing great things, or not. "Republicans means more money in my pocket (which is insanely BS), I hate Dems no MATTER WHAT, and Inflation is ALL Biden's fault". Americans (in general, as a stereotype...), are incapable of thinking beyond their wallet/ about the greater good/ about whether or not to preserve our Democracy/ etc., etc., etc. Individually there are a lot of people who don't meet that definition. But they're being overwhelmed by the people who do. I'm saddened. I'm thinking about leaving for another country. I can't stand this cesspool that the white trash bigots of this country have created. It disgusts me.

Yeah... I get that. If we were talking about policy... it would are you for or against a policy... and a discussion about policy. But passing or not passing, or squabbling over a policy (from the Senate's perspective as you were pointing out...) Is nowhere near the point that I had made. Which was that the extremists in the Republican Party are trying to overthrow the Constitution of the United States. Whereas the wide range of policy positions within the Dem Party, from Centrist (Manchin etal) to traditional to what you would call extreme (AOC etal...) is not the same. And... that the Dem Party is not "controlled" by extremists. In fact, your BBB comment just proved that point. Manchin was able to stop it because he wanted a couple programs at 10 years funding instead of multiple programs at a couple years funding. And he won. The Centrist won. Proves my point. Alternatively, the Republican Party has come under the dominant sway of the Fascists. Don't kiss Trump's feet, lose your primary. That's where I'm getting the "WTF" comment if you think BBB passing or not passing makes the Dems the same as the Republicans who are trying to overthrow our Democracy. So, not to repeat myself, but, you know... wtf?

"Lay off the drugs, kid."

You're saying that Build Back Better is the same as trying to overthrow the Constitution of the United States? WTF is wrong with you?

Holy Cannoli! So.. there's hope yet for Parker?!?! Or... SSS?

And one more point: This is probably me, I certainly don't see it anywhere else on this board... But I have this OVERWHELMING feeling that we have the 1979 Tigers on our hands. V 2.0. Everyone else can feel I am totally off base here... I get that. But Tigers Rookies in: 1976 - Jason Thompson, Mark Fidrych 1977 - Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Lance Parrish, Jack Morris, Steve Kemp, Dave Rozema 1978 - 1979 - Dan Petry, Kirk Gibson, Tom Brookens, Lynn Jones 1980 - 1981 - Rick Leach 1982 - Howard Johnson, Glenn Wilson And it still took until 1984 to win a World Series. I hope we move faster than that, this time. And I hope we have the boatload of prospects, both pitching and position, that come up and build us a World Series team (or three). I offer no guarantees. (How the heck can anyone with prospects...?). And a lot of those talented players I listed above were traded for other players that contributed in 1984, or they crapped out by then (but WERE talented enough) through injuries or what-not, not necessarily sticking around all the way to a W.S. But I think Avila has built a farm system boat loaded with MLB talent, both pitching and position... and we are stuck waiting through shit years whilst that talent eventually makes its way to the Tigers. 2018 - Spencer Turnbull 2019 - Tyler Alexander, Greg Soto 2020 - Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal 2021 - Matt Manning, Alex Lange 2022 - Spencer Torkelson, Riley Greene (TBD), Alex Faedo, Beau Brieske, Joey Wentz 2023 - (projection, of course, probably Sept. callups, at best): Wilmer Flores, Reese Olson, Ryan Kreidler, Dillon Dingler, Wenceel Perez, Colten Keith (maybe earlier if they think Wenceel is ready for 2B (and time to move on from Schoop) and/ or the team wants to push Candelario at 3B and believe Keith is ready...) 2024 - rough guess: Ty Madden, maybe Gage Workman.

I think kdog's original post was that we can't draft and develop anyone outside of the 1st round... So there are two sections in my post... a list of pitchers that we've drafted and developed outside of the 1st round, quite a few of them actually... And a list of position players from recent years who are still developing. I'm not calling it a success for the organization (the lack of position players drafted and now in MLB). I just said, like I think I just did above, that there will be successes with these position players... just with some patience. No position player successes right now... but there IS a pipeline of talent that we are currently developing. And that's NOT counting Tork & Greene since they are not allowed to be counted, since they are top 10 draft picks and top 10 draft picks don't count (per kdog, IIRC). And I'm not guaranteeing anything here... I just think that over the next 2-3 years, multiple of these guys will turn out to be impact players for the Tigers. PS: I forgot to mention Wenceel Perez, who I also really like a lot.

There is a flipside to that which is that the market has tanked. It might NOT be a lowball offer, it may be the highest possible offer... given market conditions. And the same may be true of Correa. The market wasn't there for $340MM+ because of health concerns or for any other reason. He may lose health/ speed/ value and NEVER get the money that the Tigers offered.. based on whatever circumstances... But I don't fault the Tigers for trying/ making the offer... They didn't lowball him. They made an offer that THEY believed fair market value (health concerns and all...); which actually turned out to be the HIGHEST market offer (and therefore NOT a lowball... that's just in everyone's perceptions, in a down market for Baez that was FMV); and Baez didn't want to take that market offer. And I don't fault Baez for betting on himself either. Because he believes he can stay healthy for a couple years and reach the FMV that he thinks he can get to. But if he doesn't prove he can stay healthy... then the Tigers offer may have been the highest remuneration he will get for the rest of his career because of... market (health) conditions that went against him. In MB's example... because the market was against him he is going to rent for a year or more until the market comes back in his favor. That's EXACTLY what Baez did...

Because he drafted and signed them? Because they are developing and.. you may have missed my overriding theme of the past couple of days but... Patience. I think they will be successes, but need more time. So, to me... patience. I know everyone is sick of that word...
