Probably. But I think "Skubal up for auction" will generate an overpay. At least one. I think we'll get one of those offers, even if we are sending a couple prospects (not our top 5) back. Just my guess.
-
On that basis... I would say 2025 only... The offers this offseason will be too good for Harris to pass up. Specifically, and especially, when he deems the possibility of extending him at basically zero (Boras and Skubal's insistence on hitting the open market).
-
Both Hamilton AND Ethan Rogers?
-
I'm going to guess that this offseason... Harris make an attempt to extend Skubal. Not satisfied with the negotiations, he will decide it is in the Tigers' long-term interest to trade Skubal this offseason. I put together two trade offers, one from the Dodgers, one from the Phillies. The Mets and Yankees simply do not have the horses or prospects to match these two packages... can another team beat either of these offers? Which offer do you prefer: 1) Skubal signs for 10-ish years/ $400-ish million. Moot point. 2) Dodgers' offer 3) Phillies' offer 4) Another teams' offer (details please) 5) You have OTHER ideas... (details please). PS: I would prefer the Dodgers' package. Will they say "too much, no trade"? Dodgers Offer: Emmett Sheehan, 25 yo RH SP; Emil Morales, 18 yo RH 3B; Josue De Paula, 20 yo LH OF; Jack Dreyer, 26 yo LH RP; Alex Freeland, 24 yo SS/3B. Phillies Offer: Andrew Painter, 22 yo RH SP; Justin Crawford, 21 yo LH CF; Orion Kerkering, 24 yo RH RP, Aidan Miller, 21 yo RH SS/3B, Mavis Graves, 21 yo LH SP (NEEDS to be converted to RP though...). What is Hamilton's ask? That alone could get us Hamilton if his ask is $500-600K... But I think we will see some more under slot signings... adding to a potential 11th round bonus offer. Just a guess...
-
So we're still looking for a 2nd pair RHD that actually belongs as a top-4 D because we don't have one...
-
Omigosh... YES!!! What a BABY-face!!!
-
What value does Cossa have, right now? What can we get in trade for him, right now?
-
Sort of like getting Skubal in the 9th... Or we would love to hope so...
-
POINT!!!
-
THIS is my point... I agree with Shinzaki. I really don't want to trade away Eugenio Suarez or Isaac Paredes before we even KNOW what we have. It's worth it in my opinion to see what his upside may or may not be... NOT that Cossa is going to be the next mini-Jacques Plante or mini-Gretzky or whatever... I think most of us have gotten to this point. Based on this... and I agree... If I am open to trading anyone, it's Larkin or Cat in order to reset our timeline. Every team having money creates some FA difficulty for us... But a team wanting to remain playoff/Cup-competitive MAY afford us an opportunity by wanting cost-known/controlled Cat or Larkin in exchange for a pending or soon-to-be FA that is 25-ish and going to bust their cap budget. Jason Robertson may or may not be the perfect example. Larkin for Robertson? Our new top line would be Kasper-Raymond-Robertson (I would be EXCITED about that line!!!) and we would figure everything else out around those guys and Seider-Edvinsson and Cossa-Augustine. With lots of other guys getting close to the NHL and on this new timeline... Just my 2 cents.

You misspelled "redacted".
-
Concur. Buddha's been trying to trade Cossa since we drafted him. No thank you.
-
Even with last year's finish... (meaning even if Cossa had a great finish instead...) I'm still perfectly fine having a Talbot/ Gibson tandem and making Cossa "PUSH" his way onto the Red Wings roster... Also... any nick of either Red Wings goalie hopefully calls up Cossa directly... so we can see if he is indeed ready to try and hold onto an NHL roster spot. He should have PLENTY of auditions, starting in training camp, for that roster spot. It also allows the Org to keep pushing Cossa for improvements... I hope the kid is doing everything he can to earn that spot. Just my 2 cents.

$500K. WAG.
-
If he adds a hard curveball to that he's going to be nasty....
-
This is my POV. I want higher leverage pitchers for higher leverage playoff and WS innings. If we can get that far. I have no idea how cheaply we can get them or even if we can... They're not going to be cheap, but at a price that Harris feels he can work with...
-
Two-way player but Wetwiska is a far better OF'er than pitcher... Just by the numbers...
-
5th round = Ryan Hall HS RH'er... 6'1"... Can we "grow" some of these guys...? I like my pitchers a couple inches taller...
-
They do appear to be taking some heavy-developmental guys... Let's hope Harris and his scouts are right...
-
This draft will be interesting to see 3/4 years out... See how these draftees grow (or not)... For those interested in following minor leaguers...
-
Overdrafting evrybody.
-
If he's stealing at a success rate of 80%+, the Tigers should give him the "green light". They might not do that when he just breaks in... But I think they'll turn that light on sooner rather than later or never... IMO.
-
The Nationals drafted Willets, FYI. Sorry, I ain't edman chas and I know you don't like seeing my posts... just a friendly fyi. The Angels drafted 21 y.o. college arm Tyler Bremner. Who could be a fast riser into MLB, possibly even this year based on Angels...
-
Which means... The only SP help we should be looking for, if any, would have to be better than Mize-Montero-Olson-Flaherty... because we already have those guys and the rotation gets shortened in the playoffs anyways, as you've noted. We don't "NEED" SP help... But if the rare opportunity to add a true #2 starter were available, and at a cost that Harris approved... I would not be averse to adding that person. Because the above 4 are pitching like 3/4/5 starters (inconsistent, not reliably dominant, IMO). I don't know that anyone fitting that description is available anyways, so moot point. I'm just sayin'...
