  1. Which is all we wanted... I mean, not "willing to spend spend spend"... But willing to spend what it takes to build a competitive team that can make the playoffs. Exactly what we all wanted and they are hitting cylinders on all heads this offseason. They're also spending smartly, which is what they said they would do. I'm hugely pleased so far. If anyone remembers... I called it big time in late April or early May when they were in their death throes to start the season and I said "guys, this team is going to get better and we're going to sign big FA's this offseason". Not trying to toot my own horn but... pleased that exactly what we could have all max-hoped for, has pretty much come to pass. Now we just need Greene & Tork to kick everyone's ass next year, and none of our young pitchers to regress in their 2nd or 3rd-ish years....
  2. "If you can't stay on the field..."
  3. I'm good with that. At least they tried....
  4. I want Tork in that 4th spot and everyone else pushed down 1 spot...
  5. Well alrighty then...!!! I guess we are going with Baez. As I said a couple times before... Glad we got one of the top 5 SS solutions... we badly needed a big improvement in that one position. Disappointed that we didn't get one of two guys I liked a whole lot more - Correa and Story - but I can live with this. Baez it is... And yes... I'm still breathing. 😉
  6. Yeah, not to be a spellchecker but... It was starting to hurt my eyes.
  7. You know it's Kreidler, not Krieder, right?
  8. Detroit Red Wings, 10-9-3, 3-7-1 AWAY ESPN+ 11/30 7:00 PM Boston Bruins, 11-7-0, 7-3-0 HOME
  9. Well at least we don't have to watch Trump suck Putin's cock anymore...
  10. Trump is a fucking moron and has been for the past 40+ years. And you voted for Trump twice, didn't you? So what's your point?
  11. Lindor averaged about 156 games/ year 2016-2019 and played all 60 games scheduled in 2020. Carlos Correa averaged 110. No matter how much his team argues... And I know he played 95% of his games last year and this year... but no matter how much his agents argue or how valid those arguments are, I think 2016-2019 gets held against him... IMO, he settles for over $300 mill but less than Lindor. I'll guess it as a $320-$325 mill contract...
  12. Never forget your checkbook at a ....
  13. I will believe you... When I see it at Comerica on a daily basis...
  14. I'm not excited about Buffalo. I'm excited about the young kids that have graduated to the Red Wings (Bertuzzi, Raymond, Seider in particular), been traded for (Vrana, Ned, even Fabbri to some degree), and are still on the way, hopefully arriving soon. And not all of them need to be stars. Effective 3rd-liners are just as valuable at building out a contending team as your top-shelf talent. And pretty much all due to Yzerman. I'm excited about the general direction of the team and I don't even care about the playoffs... this year. But I love the team-building aspect of watching a team grow into a contender... and I love watching lots of young kids coming up and infusing the team with talent, energy, and excitement. So... should I be excited about that? Am I allowed? (said with a wink 😉 , not necessarily snarkiness).
  15. The problem is that coaches don't ever really seem to do that. If they wanna run a 3-4, they'll draft for a 3-4. And if they draft a smaller DE that really fits in a 4-3 and not so much a 3-4, will they change the scheme? Nah, they'll just try to ram the 4-3 DE into their 3-4. Or at least it seems like that's how it happens more often than the coaching staff adjusting their scheme to fit the player...
  16. I didn't think the Red Wings were ready for me yet but... It looks like they are... I haven't been this excited about Red Wings hockey since 2009.
  17. That was a nice hug for Ned there... For all the saves he's piling up... He deserves a hug or two...
  18. I won't despair... But I will be disappointed as I'm not a believer in Baez... I'll be happy that they addressed the SS situation and he will be a huge upgrade while he is still effective. But Correa and Story are 1 and 2 on my list and I have my reasons... I'll take what we can get though?
  19. I'm going to have to get ESPN+ pretty soon here...
  20. They have so many holes it's ridiculous. And Decker is playing like he wants to be traded to another team. Another hole opens if that happens. I'd like a QB to drop to us at the Rams pick... I know everyone loses their head at the draft for QB's, but... please not this year. I'd like to at least have the option of not having to live through another season of Goff... And then we can do WR's in the 2nd and 3rd or whatever it takes. Need LB's too... in a bad way.
  21. That difference in salary is meaningless when your team's entire salary is at the bottom. It also means nothing when $30+ Mill/ year comes off the books after 2023. And when the roster is built primarily on young kids... a vet contract or two? What does that have to do with flexibility when the team is paying nothing to all these kids? Having Correa instead of Baez will in NO WAY WHATSOEVER prevent the team from signing any other player... especially at $9 million. And how flexible is having Baez when he slows down (hand-eye coordination), and hits nothing, with no power, with no plan to do anything at the plate except swing and miss, and no ability to get on base because he has never had that ability? This is coming soon, very soon, to a theatre near you. Nah... I just want the best. Correa or BUST!!!
  22. On this point I definitely agree.
  23. I did state before that if we end up with Baez, I'll live with it. And I'll be happy for the huge upgrade. But also, definitely disappointed that we didn't end up with better. Because 4 better SS options are available. But that's just me. And I would be very disappointed ending up with Baez.
