  1. Maybe next year...
  2. Which is why I don't mind Story or Semien if they can be had for 3-5 years at $25mm AAV... I'll take short-term lower money if we get outbid by the Yankees/ Dodgers/ etal...
  3. I don't think they'll look to add a starter at the deadline. Maybe a reliever, maybe a bat. And I think when they break Spring Training, they'll be a playoff contender. With only one above average Starter added, the best SS they can find... and I still think they add one vet reliever. I'm not guaranteeing playoffs here... I'm just saying that I think you are undervaluing the additions they'll make and the internal improvements, and that they will at least be a contender for the playoffs.
  4. There's no reason to risk that... If he can get a 10 year contract right now.
  5. Let's go Brandon!!! Keep kicking Republican Red-asses!!!
  6. Absolutely. I think that 10 years $350mm suggested is the real starting place...
  7. I think he falls in the range of our second 1st rounder because of this. But... we'll see...
  8. He's still on the 40 so they have to make that move. But yeah, I think he is likeliest gone.
  9. Yeah that's what I was thinking... letting the bill pass... and then registering dissenting or protest votes at the end...
  10. Are we talking Spencer Turnbull? Or Tarik Skubal? Or Tyler Alexander? Matt Manning? Derek Hill? Greg Soto? Kyle Funkhauser? Dillon Dingler? I'm a little unclear on this...
  11. There's one thing that you are also overlooking Sabre (and those believing we need to sign two SP's which... we WON'T, book it): Trading for another starter at the trade deadline. If it's an absolute must at the deadline, then maybe. But I still don't think we'll do that, because: The Org will rely on Wentz coming up by the deadline or Boyd coming back. They will look at other internal options prior to that: Like Alexander, Fulmer, Faedo, etc... I'm sorry... but the Tigers are NOT signing two average or better SP's this offseason. You can be as upset as you want to be. It's just not going to happen. Any pitcher we sign beyond one good SP will be suspect/ AAAA/ on a minor-league deal/ Teheran recovery types/ etc. Which is not a bad gamble to take on those types, and they CAN fill in some needed innings...
  12. I'm going to guess that they are probably going to hold onto one of Greiner or Garneau (and Garneau I think is the correct guess here...) and release the other guy. I don't think they need both. Or will be willing to keep the roster spot/ pay the man his money.... both.
  13. 3) Carlos Correa and one of Gausman/ Verlander/ Scherzer (unlikely)/ Wood/ McHugh. 3a) Plus (2) Teheran/ Peralta types for AAA. Oh... and maybe (1) Reliever. I'd really like to get Knebel back here... That's it.
  14. Mize and Skubal pitched 150 innings each in 2021. That 165 inn's each projection is wrong. It's 180 inn's each for a total of 360 innings.
  15. Wily Peralta and Julio Teheran.
  16. Hah! Of course!!!
  17. No during this offseason. Maybe at the trade deadline. But if we're competing for a playoff spot probably not. Daz Cameron or Reyes would have to be able to push him out of his spot and I see that as unlikely.
  18. So lets never sign a FA.
  19. That's 4/5ths of a starting rotation. Leaving only 1 spot to fill.
  20. If you sign one of Wood-Gausman-Verlander... Our rotation is Mize-Skubal-Verlander-Manning (just to insert a name...) Whoever we sign is immediately at least a #3 for us and Manning is now at the back end (4th/5th starter). Who else at the back end? I predict signings like Peralta/ Teheran, plus competition from Alexander, Wentz & Faedo for the 5th spot. In 2023 it's Mize-Skubal-Turnbull-Manning plus 5th spot. Which would include JV/ Wood/ Gausman if they are signed to more than 1 year...
  21. Signing almost ANY FA SS will VASTLY improve the defense. Bringing up Tork to play 1B and leaving Schoop at 2B and Cabrera 90% at DH will vastly improve the defense. Hill getting a lot more CF play and Greene in CF or RF will vastly improve the defense. Replacing Ramos & other catching weak links with Barnhart will vastly improve the defense. What exactly are you looking at that you don't see much improvement from the defense?
  22. I'll add him to my top 5 list.
  23. And I'll bet they are all (well, maybe > 95%) unvaccinated. You reap what you sow.
