  1. Albert Pujols? Jimmy Foxx? Miggy Cabrera (as a 1B'man)? Jeff Bagwell? Frank Thomas? Hank Greenberg? Paul Goldschmidt? Steve Garvey? What are we talking about here? What would satisfy you...? Just wondering...
  2. I'm with KL2's plan: $30 million = Top flight shortstop. $10-15 million = one starting pitcher (I'm thinking we are hunting Ray-Rodon-Syndergaard, not JV, Scherzer-level...) the other starter spot will go to Alexander/injury guys/Peralta/Wentz/minor league FA type starters... $5 million for a 1-year stopgap catcher? $5 million for a bullpen arm? Corey Knebel? = $50-55 million for 2022 alone. Anything more than that is next year off-season when we reevaluate. One difference I have: although .500 is a reasonable goal, I'd rather set my sights higher at 85-90 wins. Higher than that is awesome. Lower than that (.500-ish) is somewhat expected, although disappointing, based on youth as KL2 pointed out.
  3. ... And we will be trading for the Yanks Oswald Peraza.
  4. If Killian is not going to be "all that"... I hope they trade him a year too early rather than a year too late... Weaver? What do 'ya say?
  5. I'll spot MB a like... Since I like it too...
  6. Well... I listed all of my reasons above for the Why Not part...
  7. 100% on board with this. The only thing that changes it is if BPA for our first pick actually is a QB. But... so far, it doesn't look like it...
  8. On that... I don't want to lay odds but... Aside from an unforeseen injury or trade, I think it's about 95% that Paredes makes the team next year.
  9. With Candy though... I just don't see a reason to "jump the gun". The Tigers are not compelled to do so. They are not "under the gun". They can wait until July 2023 and then, just like Schoop, if they see a need to keep a veteran at 3B for another couple years, offer an extension. I don't believe he's going to have any "over the top" market demand. He's a good player. Not more than that. And if he gets usurped by Workman or Keith or Paredes or a big FA signing or big trade... then sayonara. We've got him for the next two years. Wait.
  10. PS: And Jeimer is a damn fine fielding 3B'man. Not Gold Glove... but a huge positive over Tork at 3B. He absolutely is a reason to keep Tork at 1B.
  11. Except, by all reports, Tork was NOT doing fine at 3B. I'd rather not mess with his head. Why would we do that? If he's very comfortable at 1B, then leave him at 1B. He's our biggest hitting prospect and we're going to try and force him to play 3B? When we have other options? Makes no sense to me whatsoever. I'd rather play Paredes at 3B; than Schoop at 1B (adequate maybe?) and Tork at 3B (not very good there) and a weaker player at 2B. I have to disagree with you on this, bigly. Because that also makes no sense to me whatsoever. Cabrera at 1B doesn't bother me, if Tork needs a day off or a half day off (DH); otherwise, leave him where he's most comfortable, where he's least exposed (more RH hitters hitting baseline screamers than LH'ed hitters), and actually a decent fielder from what he's shown so far: 1B. Not 3B.
  12. At least one of these college Sr. QB's needs to develop into a franchise-savior... real quick.
  13. No, no, NO!!!!!!
  14. Yes. Let him get his two Arb seasons. And, reassess mid-2023 what we should do. Is Paredes starting to crush it and slots into 3B? Or providing same ratio stats and fielding as Jeimer? Is Workman at AAA and moved over to 3B because of, whatever, ... and knocking at MLB with outstanding offensive numbers and excellent fielding? Is Colten Keith right behind him at AA, same production? Absolutely foolish to go past his arb years right now. He's a decent guy, I like him, at 3-4 WAR per year for another couple years, but... Mid-season 2023... I reassess.
  15. Jeimer Candelario.
  16. I don't think this had anything to do with the players you listed... None of them take precedence over Tork And everything to do with Jeimer Candelario.
  17. I think Tork is simply to get him more acclimated to higher-level quality breaking balls and the higher volume of them.
  18. Also: Message to Zadina by putting Raymond on the top line and pushing Zad down 1...
  19. I think it was mentioned in the game thread today... Don't draft a receiver in 2022, just defense and a QB if the right one is available. I beg to differ. If we decide to draft a QB in 2022, we are also drafting at least 1, maybe 2 WR's. And either a 2nd/3rd round type Guard or another TE. If we are NOT drafting a QB in 2022, then 1 WR and the rest defense. IMO. (My 2 cents...)
  20. Until that happens, moot point. Also, if TFG is on the ticket, yeah, he needs to add voters. Because he's already lost more votes than he can make up for. He's not getting more than he got in 2020. And the Dems are NOT losing votes in 2024... As long as HE is on the ticket. Take him off and add Haley... then we can start talking about Dems losing votes...
  21. And back to pfife's point: Trump may generate high turnout on his side... but he will generate even higher turnout against him. It doesn't matter if Biden or Harris or anyone else is leading the Dem ticket, there will be no lost votes as long as Trump is the Republican nominee. The only way to get Biden/Harris/Dem nominee to lose votes in 2024 is to get Trump off of the ticket. Which also says that in 2022, since TFG obviously won't be in this vote, that it might be really easy for the Republicans to take back both the House and Senate. At least how it's currently going for Dems... in general. They (Dems) need to pass their infrastructure and BBB bills soon. To have any decent chance in 2022...
  22. Yeah, we'll see about that. His high point so far is 74 million. If he runs in 2024, let's see what he ends up with.
  23. I'm going to have to watch this after reading what you guys are saying...
