"If they can't stay on the field...", Then of what use are they? That's probably a bit harsh on Flowers though... his history was fine prior to last year...
-
This is like arguing with a piece of wood. Do you not understand this? At all? "Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards has opted to undergo Tommy John surgery after an MRI on Wednesday revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow" That's NOT ELECTIVE SURGERY Useful IDIOT. "DAMAGE to the UCL"... is not ELECTIVE. And NO, the sources you provided do NOT give ample evidence. I'm done. I'm not arguing with you anymore.

Beaches. The Keys. Deep-sea diving, or fishing, or boating. Miami Beach. Disney. Universal. So many options...
-
PS: YOU are the one who said MLB players get elective surgeries. So YOU provide the evidence that they are GETTING elective surgeries. Otherwise... you're completely full of it.

2021 Offseason - 2021/22 PreSeason Thread

Donovan Sebrango? I think the team is actually a bit high on his potential... Doesn't mean anything. I'm just sayin'... -
MLB pitchers are not taking "elective surgery" TJ's. Show me the data, and not the one-off anecdotal "story" or opinion BS that you just posted.
-
Oh that's even worse...

If you sign two quality starters... that's what? 3-4 years each? Turnbull is back in 2023. I would wager that signing TWO FA starters will leave us with a WEAKER rotation in 2023 than if we just signed one. And with committed money to boot. I have no interest in signing two MLB starters, whatsoever. Candidates for the 2023 rotation include: Mize-Manning-Skubal-Alexander-Wentz-Turnbull, and possibly even Madden and/or Faedo, as well. That tells me I want ONE FA starter in 2022, on a short-term contract. And another 1 or 2 6th/7th starters, like a Peralta, that you stick in Toledo for... again, on 1-year contracts... Why does everyone want to buy 2 starters? I don't get it.... it just doesn't make any sense. If we want to buy two arms, we need them so much more in the BP, which can fluctuate wildly, then on starters... In 2023 maybe Faedo and Alexander are pushed over to the BP... who else do we still have in a 2023 BP that rocks? Soto, Fulmer, ... and?

What SoCalTiger said: Non-tender him. Offer an incentive-laden minor league contract with a low-base so: (1) He can rehab all he needs to in the system, (2) if he doesn't make it back to the Tigers we're not paying big money, (3) I suggested an opt-out by mid-July so if he can't get back to MLB with us than he can be released and try with another team, (4) if he does make it back to Detroit, let's say by mid-season or late-June or whatever... he can make up for some of the lost money with those incentives, (5) He's a free agent at the end of the season. That's it for me.

And in a dozen posts I said: "DON'T extend a QO". "RELEASE HIM". "I DON'T want him on the 2022 MLB roster". "Do NOT sign Boyd for 2022". But somehow... you think that means; "Hey, let's extend him an offer!" No, I do NOT WANT Boyd on the 2022 MLB roster. Is that clear enough for you yet? The correct answers to the question: "Don't you have to extend a QO? To get arbitration?" are: 1) No. QO's have nothing to do with arbitration. 2) No, if a candidate is non-tendered, they do not get arbitration. If a team extends an offer, arbitration begins. See? I answered my own question.
-
Provide the proof of elective surgeries. Because that sure does sound like an opinion.
-
This. (And NOT the "Or" last sentence...). "Just say NO" to Boyd 2023...
-
Isn't that going to be under insurance. Teams might pay premiums (or a portion, not certain about CBA); but they do not have to "pay" - directly - for surgeries.
-
No... Non-Tendering is SPECIFICALLY what I was talking about. Or in other words: that "separate matter" is the specific matter I was referring to... I stated: Do NOT give him an offer. If the semantics say that the correct terminology is non-tender Boyd, and I was using "do NOT extend a qualifying offer"... than that is just on me for using the wrong terminology... I was definitely NOT talking about giving him an arbitration offer, or "final offer".
-
Wrong answer. Try again.
-
I want the White Sox to lose not just because they are our current enemies... But also... I want Craig Kimbrel to become disenchanted with them (and with TLR) and come sign with the Tigers to lead our BP for the next 3-4 years...

A POX on you good sir!

2021 Offseason - 2021/22 PreSeason Thread

Looks like Leddy & Seider fell down on this one... Growing pains. Going to happen this year for Seider as he acclimates to the NHL... -
Yeah I didn't have any numbers... I was just being hyperbolic. But your point matches with mine... stop with the 3-man rush because they're getting zero pressure... at least getting some pressure on the QB may generate some mistakes, or even some sacks. They suck in coverage anyways, so what the hell are they doing dropping 8? Getting... nothing but completions and yards and TD's against. Rush 4, full stop. And live with the consequences.
-
If one of those guys, or someone else, turns into a franchise-type QB... go for it. I don't see it just yet... but maybe Malik? But if they don't qualify as a franchise-type.. then please just wait until 2023... I don't want to settle for Andre Ware or some other past failure just because we "need" a QB. Get the right one. End of story.
-
Even as bad as he is... he can still hold down the fort. The team is bad. They're going to be bad for awhile. They need to do a lot of team-building. On those basis', doesn't really matter if we're stuck with Goff. Just ride him until a replacement is found. When they spot their franchise QB, whether 2022 draft or 2023... Or FA or trade or whatever... pull the trigger. Until then... ride Goff until he's dead. (just joking on that last comment...) 😉
-
Hard to get pressure if the QB can get the ball out of his hands in 2.3 seconds with our weak secondary and LB's. Also, rushing 3 doesn't really help there. They should be rushing 4 every pass attempt to at least hope they can get some pressure... Because they sure can't cover so what does it matter?
-
Do it. And then sign Boyd to a minor league contract so he can rehab in the Org... If he warrants starting with the Tigers again by mid-season or so (does MLB have two-way or split contracts? One rate for minor leagues and a separate agreed-upon rate for MLB? (not talking about MLB minimum...)) fine. If not, well then...
-
Right... but I thought there was some kind of similar process... Like not extending an (arbitration) offer makes that player a free agent. Call it qualifying or whatever the correct terminology is...
