  1. Boyd: 1-Year minor league contract with an MLB opt-out by mid-July. That's it.
  2. I have no interest in Boyd in 2023. Don't you have to extend a QO? To get arbitration? Don't extend a QO. He's not going to sign anywhere else anyways. Sign him to a minor league contract so he can rehab in our system, which is me being nice here, and see if he's able to pitch in July/ August with the Tigers. He can also have a stipulation in the contract that he's in MLB with the Tigers by mid-July, or he gets released and is a FA. If he's not ready for MLB, he's a FA at the end of 2022 one way or another, so let him go. I'm not interested in offering him any more than that.
  3. Probably... But nothing seems to fit inside my brain right now other than "Verlander", "Verlander", "Verlander"...
  4. Love everything you did there...! For the BP though: I want Corey Knebel and Craig Kimbrel...
  5. Forgot about the Mets not signing Rocker...
  6. Or 13th or 14th... What's the tie-breaker? Prior year winning %...? yeah ok, then we would pick 12th...
  7. If the Yankees sign Correa they have a pretty good SS waiting to break into MLB...
  8. Ended the season at .475 win % and tied with two others in the 11-12-13 spots. So a coinflip or whatever else breaks a tie will determine our final position. It's what we've been waiting on the past 5 years... a move to get away from those top 5 draft picks. They actually had a stronger run this year than I thought... only in the last week did their pitching stress out from being too young with a limited innings history... I thought they'd struggle the whole month of September... I guessed earlier this year that they'd fall in the top 9-12 draft spot, and they finished at the better end of that. But not only that, they made a play for .500 and finishing 2nd in the Central... until that last week. But job well done boys, so... until next year and the draft... have a great team-building offseason!!! (PS: I don't see a need to start the 2023 draft thread until just before the draft... not sometime during the 2022 season because, well, we just don't CARE about draft position any more!!!)
  9. I think he will be platooned next year, which will negate that. I believe this year they were testing him as much as possible so that meant PA's against lefties. If he doesn't improve on that next year, significantly, Hinch will bench him against lefties. Just my 'pinion...
  10. Baddoo's not taking a step back. And we're adding Correa... So now what?
  11. Not a good representation so far Archie Bunker... You've proven yourself to be a liar, a fascist, a hypocrite, and completely full of horseshit so far... Do you think people here are stupid? That we can't see the horseshit you're spewing? Newsflash: Everyone can see your stream of crap.
  12. Says the guy who called me a comedian, not an Independent. So you're a hypocrite too then.
  13. Says the Joker spewing horseshit about Jan 6th. All you white trash bigots are nothing but clowns, if we want to talk about getting a good laugh...
  14. I'm an Independent.
  15. So full of shit I can smell you all the way over here in Jersey...
  16. Archie Bunker confirms he is our resident fascist and liar.
  17. Tigers make it to the playoffs in either 2022 or 2023 and he's not going to want to be around the team? Wrong answer.
  18. Nah. I don't believe that for one second. You have a few things wrong here: 1) There is no material benefit to the Tigers whatsoever getting him off their books. They have to pay him what they owe him. End of story. And they're not even in the ballpark with regards to luxury tax... they're on the beach soaking up the sun... no taxes whatsoever. 2) The only benefit to getting him off the roster is competitive. If he's turning into a black hole in the lineup - and he did keep his head above water this year... eventually... it took him awhile to get to acceptable numbers - then it benefits the Tigers to just pay him his money and wave him off into the sunset and get an actual contributing bat on the roster. Now... there are political issues involved here between Miggy, the Tigers, and Fans Goodwill... but if it's pure competitive, then the Tigers' need to wave goodbye to Miggy some time in 2022... after he hits milestones. 3) He's not retiring. He's not forfeiting anything. And the Tigers won't pay more than the existing contract obligation to say goodbye. I'm not certain about player development in Lakeland... maybe... He might be down with that. But if the Tigers make a serious playoff push... I think he would absolutely want to be around the team, as bench coach or otherwise...
  19. I disagree with the "not right now". Meaning, a team that is pushing for the playoffs, say they're 6-4 or similar, but is having a problem at LT... will definitely be willing to make a play "right now" with a 1st rounder that they expect to be late in the 1st in 2022... Now, that is dependent on this year's circumstances as the year unfolds but... I wouldn't rule that out prematurely because I believe there are already a couple of teams that fit that definition ("playoff wannabe" having issues at LT... not necessarily the 6-4 record...) and are out looking for a solution... So... we'll see.
  20. I like Flores in Lakeland, and I like Nick Davila too. The only pitcher I like at West Michigan is Austin Bregner... can't think of any other pitcher I like at the Low-A/ High-A level. Not certain how any of the 2021 draftees are doing in Lakeland... obviously I'm keen, at the very least, on Jobe and Madden.
  21. I'm on board with that. He could be the Tigers "Goodwill Ambassador" starting around June of next year, and maybe a "bench coach" as well... well after he's cleared his 3,000 hits and 600 doubles...
  22. What RM said. Not that Miggy would "retire", but rather that the Tigers would "retire him". Yes, obviously the Tigers will be paying out the full value of his contract. And he's not going to "retire" to the benefit of the Tigers and the abrogation of his $60 mill. I should be less euphemistic and more explicit.
  23. Miggy: 13 hits and 3 doubles to hit milestones. Not tonight though with an 0-3 and 3 K's. Negates Grossman-Schoop's double steal...
  24. Hah! We'll see about that...
  25. Brieske had a damn fine year... I mostly like his low WHIP, his K-Rate, low HR rate and BB-rate, and that he has decent size at 6' 3" 200#'s... Also: that he did this at High-A and AA, not in low-A or GCL (FSL... whatever). It might actually mean something that he did it at AA...
