  1. And on that point: Odds... Mize hasn't reached his full potential yet. So we're not getting top dollar for him. Another year or two, when he starts pushing for CY's, his price goes WAY up. Then we can speak about what his true trade value is. We'd be selling him cheap right now because the Mariners ain't offering Marte, Rodriguez & Lewis for him. Neither is any other team.
  2. And a team is not going to offer it's top two position prospects for Mize, plus another MLB OF'er to boot. It's like us offering Willi Castro to the Blue Jays for Guerrero and Bichette and them saying "yeah, OK, sure." There is no reality whatsoever to the example Edman gave. It's complete BS. And on the other note: Yeah, every player is tradeable for the right price... but you can't end up with a team of 5 1B'Man and 1 starter. That's asinine. There IS something called "building a team". So my statement stands.
  3. Nope. Not wrong.
  4. And he doesn't cost Casey Mize.
  5. Greene will be the starter out of ST. Grossman as "4th OF'er" doesn't mean that he doesn't end up with the most PA's as an OF'er... because he could. Baddoo looks like a platoon lefty at this point, and kid gloves with Greene means lots of Grossman time. And Hill may start in CF (this is what I believe will happen) but Baddoo will be sprinkled in liberally, or Greene will, in CF. Forget the ugly term "4th OF'er", by PA's, I think Grossman will be 2nd-ish in PA's out of those 4 OF's.
  6. Let me be more demonstrative: I am not interested in 5 All-Star 1B'man and 1 All-Star Starting Pitcher. I am interested in 5 All-Star Starting Pitchers and 1 All-Star 1B'man. Makes no sense to trade Mize-Manning or Skubal. There are ALTERNATIVE methods to add bats without creating a massive hole in the rotation.
  7. I don't think we're looking for a 4th OF'er next year. Maybe a 5th. I believe we start out the season with Baddoo in LF, Hill in CF, Greene in RF. And Grossman is the 4th with Hinch flopping the 4 of them around PA's/ matchups as needed. Cameron, Robson and Reyes in Toledo until needed in Detroit. Or... one of them makes it as a 5th OF'er...
  8. If you end up with zero pitching, that's an asinine trade.
  9. But no reason to dump until they get a replacement. And, just personally, I'd rather build up the team next year with WR's, CB's and LB'ers... And hunt our "QB-of-the-future" the following year... UNLESS one of 2022's QB's turns out to be "can't-miss/ once-in-a-generation" but... I don't think any of them are all that at this point. Doesn't say 2023 will get one or two of those but... if no one stands out, then I wait until 2023...
  10. Trading Mize right now would be asinine.
  11. We have Goff under contract for 2023 so drafting a QB that year still puts him underneath Goff for that year to learn...
  12. Nice! Now... Get better. Reduce HR's. And pitch more innings/ more innings/game.
  13. Does... Dick-sucking fascist wannabe count?
  14. Holy crap!!! Without knowing... I would've sworn that was Thom...!
  15. Grooming him to take over Boyd's spot to start next year. 5th starter until at least July-ish...
  16. Oh wait... Yeah, they're pretty dishonest too. Mostly, but not exclusively, on the Republican side from what I can see.
  17. No... Just corrupt.
  18. 100% agree.
  19. In 2022 I would prefer: Baddoo - LF Torkelson - 1B Greene - RF Correa - SS Candelario - 3B Miggy - DH Schoop - 2B Haase - C Hill - CF We can do liberal substituting with Grossman and any other OF'ers (Cameron/ Reyes if he's still in the picture). But I would like Hill to start in CF and Hinch manage all the bench substitutions/ platoons, etc., wherever they may fall. But I'm going to go defense 1st in CF and let the bats determine how that works out for PA's...
  20. PS: Grossman is signed for next year. Offseason 2022 = either retain/ try to re-sign Grossman, or not. If we don't, that opens up an additional OF spot to put that additional power hitter... Just sayin'...
  21. If we can't get everything in one offseason, as Avila has stated... I want the best SS we can land, a SP and at least one high end RP. I'm not as focused on the additional power hitter this offseason because (a) we'll see a lot of internal development next year at the MLB level so I would rather reassess after the 2022 season; (b) Miggy is going to retire sometime next year, IMO. That opens up ANY power hitter to play some in the field and, if necessary, primarily DH. I think that's an easier position for us to fill offseason 2022 than 2021. (c) Grossman's contract is up.. freeing up an OF spot; (d) What power hitter is attractive and available this offseason? I have pretty much focused exclusively on the SS's so I don't even know. But again... additional power hitter to me, plus maybe one more reliever, are better options for us in 2022 than in 2021...
  22. This absolutely has been a successful season.
