  1. PS: Your assertion that the Tigers cannot draft and develop is ancient history. It no longer applies.
  2. I got your point exactly. You think we have a lack of successful development. In fact you stated we are crappy at developing anyone who is not a top 5 pick in the 1st round. Am I stating this incorrectly? So I listed: Spencer Turnbull, Tarik Skubal, Tyler Alexander, Matt Manning, Derek Hill, Greg Soto, Kyle Funkhauser, and Dillon Dingler. Spencer Turnbull was drafted in the 2nd round 2014. Meets your requirements. Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Tarik Skubal was drafted in the 9th round 2018. Meets your requirements. Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Tyler Alexander was drafted in the 3rd round 2015. Meets your requirements. Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Matt Manning was drafted in the 1st round 2016, out of HS at #9, and was raw as hell. Meets your requirements. Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Derek Hill was drafted at #23 in the 1st round 2014. Meets your requirements. Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Greg Soto was an International signing in 2012 which is essentially the same as draft and develop. Meets your requirements (not a top 5 1st rounder). Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Kyle Funkhauser was drafted in the 4th round 2016. Meets your requirements. Explain to me how he is NOT a successful draft and develop. Dillon Dingler was drafted in the 2nd round 2020. Meets your requirements. Hasn't made MLB yet, obviously... but just watch him as he becomes our starter at catcher so in due time... he'll be another successful draft and develop. You can put him on hold if you want to...
  3. Yeah... I think there's better and cheaper than him so no thanks...
  4. Oh... You're talking about how many HOF'ers have we drafted and developed outside of a top5 1st round pick? Well how many does ANY team develop on that basis?
  5. Maybe next year...
  6. Which is why I don't mind Story or Semien if they can be had for 3-5 years at $25mm AAV... I'll take short-term lower money if we get outbid by the Yankees/ Dodgers/ etal...
  7. I don't think they'll look to add a starter at the deadline. Maybe a reliever, maybe a bat. And I think when they break Spring Training, they'll be a playoff contender. With only one above average Starter added, the best SS they can find... and I still think they add one vet reliever. I'm not guaranteeing playoffs here... I'm just saying that I think you are undervaluing the additions they'll make and the internal improvements, and that they will at least be a contender for the playoffs.
  8. There's no reason to risk that... If he can get a 10 year contract right now.
  9. Let's go Brandon!!! Keep kicking Republican Red-asses!!!
  10. Absolutely. I think that 10 years $350mm suggested is the real starting place...
  11. I think he falls in the range of our second 1st rounder because of this. But... we'll see...
  12. He's still on the 40 so they have to make that move. But yeah, I think he is likeliest gone.
  13. Yeah that's what I was thinking... letting the bill pass... and then registering dissenting or protest votes at the end...
  14. Are we talking Spencer Turnbull? Or Tarik Skubal? Or Tyler Alexander? Matt Manning? Derek Hill? Greg Soto? Kyle Funkhauser? Dillon Dingler? I'm a little unclear on this...
  15. There's one thing that you are also overlooking Sabre (and those believing we need to sign two SP's which... we WON'T, book it): Trading for another starter at the trade deadline. If it's an absolute must at the deadline, then maybe. But I still don't think we'll do that, because: The Org will rely on Wentz coming up by the deadline or Boyd coming back. They will look at other internal options prior to that: Like Alexander, Fulmer, Faedo, etc... I'm sorry... but the Tigers are NOT signing two average or better SP's this offseason. You can be as upset as you want to be. It's just not going to happen. Any pitcher we sign beyond one good SP will be suspect/ AAAA/ on a minor-league deal/ Teheran recovery types/ etc. Which is not a bad gamble to take on those types, and they CAN fill in some needed innings...
  16. I'm going to guess that they are probably going to hold onto one of Greiner or Garneau (and Garneau I think is the correct guess here...) and release the other guy. I don't think they need both. Or will be willing to keep the roster spot/ pay the man his money.... both.
  17. 3) Carlos Correa and one of Gausman/ Verlander/ Scherzer (unlikely)/ Wood/ McHugh. 3a) Plus (2) Teheran/ Peralta types for AAA. Oh... and maybe (1) Reliever. I'd really like to get Knebel back here... That's it.
  18. Mize and Skubal pitched 150 innings each in 2021. That 165 inn's each projection is wrong. It's 180 inn's each for a total of 360 innings.
  19. Wily Peralta and Julio Teheran.
  20. Hah! Of course!!!
  21. No during this offseason. Maybe at the trade deadline. But if we're competing for a playoff spot probably not. Daz Cameron or Reyes would have to be able to push him out of his spot and I see that as unlikely.
  22. So lets never sign a FA.
