One question, one comment: What happened to our good Skubal? And on Niko's offensive performance: "A little late in the season for that, Niko." -
2021 Offseason - 2021/22 PreSeason Thread

What's really annoying is that they completely block the screen for 2 minutes with a banner showing who scored, and then who assisted, and then they talk about the goal... BLOCKING the actual live action...! WTF? Stecher scored and we couldn't see anything in the minute leading up to the goal, not the play out of our zone, not the passing, the score... nothing. The replay showed Stecher moving in on the goal and somehow scoring with 4 bodies flopping all over the ice and the goalie, and he somehow threaded it through for a score. But we saw nothing else leading up to that goal. They were talking about Raymond's goal... But having a banner blocking the action, and yapping about the prior goal, as one is CURRENTLY BEING SCORED... way beyond annoying. -
I believe it is in the Tigers best interest to NOT sign a FA OF'er but, rather, let these kids grow into whatever they might turn into, before making the decision to spend extra money on that. I just don't seeing jumping the gun in this area. It makes no sense. "Desperately"? What a joke. Our short-term need is not in the OF, it's at Catcher and SS. And a starting pitcher, and a couple AAAA starters for backup, and at least one high-end reliever.

Trump = Complete and total lying MF'ing F'Up. Moron. Imbecile. And I could do this 24/7, all day and all night long... If anyone was interested.... 😉
-
And he totally F'd it up. What a brainless F'ing moron.

What I take personally are: Liars. Fascism. Racists. The overthrow of American Democracy or, the Constitution of the United States. The current state of the Republican Party is a loser on all of those counts. I am taking this personally starting in 2016. Before that, not so much. And it will stay personal until the destruction of the current Fascist Republican Party of America. And that's not all Trump. After they are defeated politically, maybe things can go back to normal. But I grew up reading extensively about WW II and the Holocaust. I am F'ing enraged what this country has turned into at the hands of white trash racists. The Republicans can take their violent fascism and shove it up their asses. So yes, I'm taking it personal for a little while longer. FYI.

I definitely didn't get it from the political HACKS at Fox or OAN or Newsmax. PS: I don't watch TV hardly at all. So I've seen almost nothing of CNN or MNBC for the past 25 years. But if I want honest news, and not a stream of right wing liars, say, on 9-11... I go to CNN and Anderson Cooper, et al.
-
Nope. Not correct. And Trump was an asshole on the border. That's not a great job. It's contemptible. I've got your politics now Archie Bunker. I understand you.
-
You're totally full of **** Archie, if you don't mind my saying so.
-
We don't have open borders right now. Bald-faced LIE. Largest spending bill...? Or are we talking about the $8 Trillion in debt that TRUMP added to our deficit? In FOUR YEARS!!! And MOST of that was from his tax cuts.
-
So we're talking about the $8 TRILLION that Trump added to our debt? Correct?
-
He also didn't handle the rise in racism and hatred and violence well. In fact, he inspired those.
-
Don't forget: Trump's fast track didn't have shit to do with the vaccine. That was all private industry research and development. Trump's fast track was for logistics purposes only. Not the vaccine.
-
In other words: He rode Obama's coattails using Obama's economy. I agree.

Oh, also... let me break that down just a bit more: Baddoo 400 PA's (250 LF, 150 CF) Grossman 550 PA's (300 LF, 150 DH, 100 RF) Hill, 350 PA's, all CF. Greene 600 PA's (500 RF, 50 CF, 50 DH) Call up Reyes or Cameron and you can sprinkle a few more PA's in there...
-
And if anyone takes note of what I just said: I have Grossman as the 4th OF'er but with more PA's than either Baddoo or Hill..
-
Here are the limitations that I see: Grossman is good. But he's not great. Not dynamic in any area. He has good plate discipline and gets on base... but only nominal power and not much BA. He's also 33 next year, so he's not on any upswing. His OBP, professionalism, bit-of-speed, and that he's a switch-hitter gives him PA's. But there are limitations in his profile. Baddoo is dynamic. But struggles against lefties (.526 OPS versus .846 against righties), which suggests a platoon at this point, and is not as fluid in the field as you would think, nor has much of an arm for CF. Best in LF, but can cover CF if needed. Grossman should take 100% of his PA's against lefties at this point (.848 OPS against lefties versus .738 OPS against righties). Hill is a dynamic centerfielder. But has trouble staying healthy. Not much BA, he does have a little pop in his bat but not enough for anyone to take notice. Very few PA's so far in MLB so he's unproven there. Same with on the basepaths... he has speed, but what's he going to do with it? In 139 AB's this year: .259 BA, 3 doubles 3 triples 3 HR's = .702 OPS. If he bumps that up to .750, and can stay healthy, that may = most of the CF PA's in 2022. If Hill sits some against tough righties and Baddoo takes those PA's, then Grossman can be the leftie bat in LF whilst Baddoo covers CF. Greene is not coming up to MLB to be a 4th OF'er. Who the heck suggested that? If he comes up, he's a 90-95% starter. Maybe he gets some days off and Grossman plays instead... but 9 out of 10 games Greene is starting. IF Hill can hold onto CF, Greene is the starter in RF. If Hill can NOT hold onto CF, then Greene may take over as the starter there, and Grossman becomes a regular in RF. At that point (if Hill is in rehab at AAA or something), then we're looking at giving another OF'er a chance, such as Cameron or Reyes. Also, one other point: If Miggy is still on the team and playing 1B, any of the above bats except Hill can take over the DH spot for some PA's. I'll let Hinch sort out all of the above... But on a guess, based on the above and between the 3 OF spots and some DH-duty: Baddoo ends up with 400 PA's, Grossman 550 PA's, Hill 350 PA's, and Greene 600 PA's...
-
And then there's this as well...
-
You mean like when 600,000 Americans died from Covid because Trump blew it off?
-
In other words: Good Riddance.

And on that point: Odds... Mize hasn't reached his full potential yet. So we're not getting top dollar for him. Another year or two, when he starts pushing for CY's, his price goes WAY up. Then we can speak about what his true trade value is. We'd be selling him cheap right now because the Mariners ain't offering Marte, Rodriguez & Lewis for him. Neither is any other team.
-
And a team is not going to offer it's top two position prospects for Mize, plus another MLB OF'er to boot. It's like us offering Willi Castro to the Blue Jays for Guerrero and Bichette and them saying "yeah, OK, sure." There is no reality whatsoever to the example Edman gave. It's complete BS. And on the other note: Yeah, every player is tradeable for the right price... but you can't end up with a team of 5 1B'Man and 1 starter. That's asinine. There IS something called "building a team". So my statement stands.
-
Nope. Not wrong.
-
And he doesn't cost Casey Mize.
-
Greene will be the starter out of ST. Grossman as "4th OF'er" doesn't mean that he doesn't end up with the most PA's as an OF'er... because he could. Baddoo looks like a platoon lefty at this point, and kid gloves with Greene means lots of Grossman time. And Hill may start in CF (this is what I believe will happen) but Baddoo will be sprinkled in liberally, or Greene will, in CF. Forget the ugly term "4th OF'er", by PA's, I think Grossman will be 2nd-ish in PA's out of those 4 OF's.
