  1. The reasons Vierling goes down versus a different move: As I said, it's not a punishment to him. It's simply a numbers crunch. If/when Meadows gets another chance: That's Canha, Carpenter, Greene, Meadows & Perez who can NOT play IF. That's a full deck in the OF and none of them go down to Toledo in favor of Vierling. That limits Vierling to... 3B? He's not great there. Adequate, but barely. You can't get rid of McKinstry because he's the ONLY SS on the roster outside of Baez. And he's a LH'er in the IF as well. Not any great advantage there.. but the Org is not going to dispense of McKinstry at this point in time, not in favor of Vierling. Not going to happen. And since Urshela and Ibanez are both RH'ers and play 3B... That makes Vierling virtually useless. The worst that can happen to Vierling though, if Meadows can stick in MLB... Is that Canha is a FA this year and Vierling has to wait until next year to be the 5th OF'er. It is what it is.
  2. Since this is a transition year... to sift through some kids trying to see what sticks... I want to demote (all have an option or two so we don't lose these guys): Torkelson. Rogers. And Vierling (not as a punishment to Vierling... he just got caught in a numbers game and I'm not sending down Perez... Plus Ibanez can play both 2B and 3B so with Canha/ Carpenter/ Greene/ Perez/ and...): And call up: Meadows - give him another chance to stick in CF. But he needs to hit in Detroit... not just Toledo. That would be a full OF with 5 guys. Vilade - and stick him at 1B. 25 and I'm interested in seeing what he's got. I don't wanna say he could Wally Pipp Torkelson... But I would say that I don't want to see Tork in Detroit again until: He's got his bat straightened out. And his head straightened out. And to me that means getting himself in top shape because... I don't see it. And taking some F'ing pride on defense. Which means getting into better shape and learning how to actually be more than just a 1-dimensional 1B'man (he can pick it with those errant throws... I don't see much else than that). Oh... and maybe Vilade could surprise everyone. And Dingler. He's at .284 BA and .810 OPS at Toledo... But I won't project anything here. All I would say is it would be hard to be much worse than what Rogers has provided so far so might as well give Dingler a shot while Rogers straightens himself out in Toledo. Which he needs to do. And if Dingler somehow sticks... Rogers is a FA only after 2026 and Kelly is a FA this year... So keep Rogers whether he's a starter or a backup (but he's gotta play better than what he's shown this year) and Dingler shows Hinch what he can... or cannot... do. And Harris adjusts accordingly. Just my 2 cents.
  3. In a small sample size (about 54 PA's)... Parker Meadows is hot down in Toledo with a .302 BA and 1.004 OPS (so far). Maybe he's trying to tell Harris & Hinch "I'm sorry. Can I please come back up and play in Detroit?"
  4. If you start out hot... There's usually nowhere to go except... down. The key to me, with regards to Wenceel, is... Where does he end up stabilizing? Which might take a long time to find out.
  5. Junkballers can still be effective. I think one of the keys to me is... can he rub off on Mize? Whether that's by osmosis or by showing him different grips or how to be more effective with a subpar FB... If Mize could learn something from Maeda... Improve through his tutelage into a 3/4 starter that can carry a 1.15 WHIP - with the FB that he has - IMO... then that buys Maeda a seat at the table.
  6. I should state this correctly: AVILA GEM KERRY CARPENTER with a 2-RUN HR!!!
  7. And there we go! Kerry Carpenter 2-run HR = Bert's 6 runs!!!
  8. A Tiger game is not a REAL Tiger game unless we get Bert's 6 runs...
  9. Still no outs and bases loaded... Tork batting. 3-0 Tigers at the moment...
  10. HBP with bases loaded = run scored.
  11. PS: I hope I didn't just jinx him...
  12. An underrated pitcher. Career 1.15 WHIP. Pretty good. 1.17 WHIP last year. Pretty good. Gets his ass kicked every single April... as we've already seen. And then does really well for the rest of the season. This year, he already has game logs of: 6 inn's 1 ER, 6 inn's 1 ER, and 5 Inn's 0ER. Hmmm... and it appears he's not doing so badly today: 4 innings so far, 0 ER's.
  13. I would actually be interested to know whether Ryan Vilade or Colt Keith can play 1st. Tork can go reset his bat in Toledo, along with Meadows... As long as 1 of Keith or Vilade can play 1st and the other can stay at 2B. Vilade is only 25... I'm interested in seeing what he could do with an extended run in MLB.
  14. AVILA GEM COLT KEITH HITS FIRST MLB HOME RUN. WITH MANY MORE TO COME!!!
  15. I'd be interested in seeing what would happen if Manning were able to go all out... for 1 inning per game (for the games he is put in...).
  16. I have more confidence in Maeda than Manning. Manning's pretty close to my wanting to demote him to the bullpen.
  17. WTF took you so long AJ? The only change I'd make would be to drop Tork to the 9th spot.
  18. You seem pretty upset that I support a lot of our Tigers prospects or am interested in following them. Please put me on ignore and I'll do the same.
  19. Wasn't it more than Kerry? Hasn't it also been Parker Meadows and Gage Workman who went outside the Org to get their swings/ stance fixed? I think it was even Carpenter's guy they went to...? With, ummm, mixed results I believe.
  20. A-Hah! Now we're talking about Trump's Tax Cuts. Created annual $1 TRILLION deficits. Not billion. TRILLION. Did nothing or close to nothing for the middle class. The top 1% in this country? LINED their ****ing POCKETS with those tax cuts. Middle Class MAGA clamoring for more of the same? Too ****ing stupid to realize that REAL Republicans (those in the top 1% and trying to protect their top 1% from the proletariat rabble) are going to **** them in the ass again. Republicans: Cancel Biden's Infrastructure = **** the middle class (construction jobs/ engineers/ etc..) in the ass. Republicans: MESS with Social Security and Medicare = middle class gets ****ed in the ass again. Republicans: Make permanent the "middle class" tax cuts that are due to expire = these don't do **** for the middle class but they sure do help the top 1% line their pockets = middle class gets ****ed in the ass again. Republicans: The DEFICIT and the national debt is a PROBLEM so... They will find a way to TAX the MIDDLE CLASS. Middle class? ****ed again. Guaranteed. I'm sorry... but to me... the abject STUPIDITY LEVEL of MAGA is so ****ing far off the charts I just cannot ****ing believe that this is where we are.
  21. 100% And not just the pent up demand. The supply chains were not ready to go from 15% to 115% capacity when the pent up demand unleashed. That caused lots of logistical/ labor cost/ inflationary problems too. Not to mention, roughly 6 mill pre-Covid workers decided to retire post-Covid. Talk about putting pressure on labor costs. Good for workers' wages. Until the expected inflationary reaction to that, ate away at those wage gains... The short answer is: 100%
  22. That works GREAT for fantasy if you can get him on the cheap.
  23. Again, that was YOUR word, NOT mine. So yes... I used YOUR word to throw back a challenge. So forget YOUR word, genius. My word has ALWAYS and ONLY been CREDIT. Does Avila get credit for ANYTHING in your mind? Or NOTHING?
  24. He started things. That needed starting. Full stop. He drafted quite a few MLB-quality prospects, and made some minor trades for same, and signed a couple internationals, same. Full stop. He hired Ryan Garko and AJ Hinch. Full stop. I don't see how you can give him a ZERO and not stoop to the barest of bottoms to say yeah, OK, he did that. That does NOT NEGATE the rest of your post.
