The only flipside I would say is: If a team is crap and losing 100 games then it's easy to just say "Ain't got the players". And if a team is winning 100+ games nobody cares (mostly) about a manager's decisions because... well, winning. But with a team that's barely scraping by at around .500 and winning or losing games by the thinnest of margins... Makes every decision a manager makes subject to second guessing. I don't normally say anything about a manager's decisions... And losing 100 or so games the past 7 years, right after a spate of years winning 100 or so games... made that easy. Now... I love AJ Hinch... But I'm feeling critical all of a sudden... By the thinnest of margins.

Not if you're leading in the 9th and the only task required is to close the door. Don't give up the 9th inning run and we win. And the previous 3 runs are moot point. You don't know what you're talking about.

As far as I'm concerned, Chafin shouldn't have been on the mound in the 9th. No chance for him to... not do his job.

Since the score was 4-3, Tigers leading after that... No.

I was fine until the 9th... when Chafin was brought in. I would've gone Wentz (1st batter was a lefty)... And then brought in Lange, righty versus Fry, a righty. That was the game right there. Chafin gave up the homer to Fry.

Foley in the 7th was NOT the problem. Chafin in the 9th was. AVAILABLE in the 9th: Lange, Wentz, Holton. Who was the best choice for the 9th? And Foley BLEW his last two games so... NOT Foley.

And NOW he puts in Lange.

With a stacked lefty lineup Hinch might stick with Wentz in the 9th... Or go to Holton instead of Lange... Just guessing...

July 18th. Immediately after Trump becomes the official Republican Presidential nominee, all these squib Republicans who have NOT said they will vote for the Democratic Presidential nominee in November (in other words... said "anything else") will turn around and state: "I support the Republican Party and therefore will vote (holding my nose) for the Republican Presidential candidate in November." Every. Single. One of them.

It does not. Also... I think after getting crushed in the Verlander and Martinez trades... He became gun-shy and refused to even consider any major trade again... He did win several of these smaller trades... But being gun-shy as an MLB GM is not a recipe for success.

Also Joe Wentz for Shane Greene. Wentz is just starting out so we don't know what he can do. I like him as a middle reliever 2-3-inning guy so we'll see how that works out. A bad 2023 so he has to overcome his (-0.8) career WAR so far... Greene had a 1.0 WAR after leaving Detroit so it's not a huge bar to get over.

That could fit just about anywhere in the bottom half of the lineup...

Gotta hope DPJ turns into Tyler Boyd.

If it's Naegleria Fowleri (brain eating amoeba) or Toxocara Canis (got the worm from his dog? Shoulda called Kristi Noem...): Why didn't it finish the job? Too distasteful so it crept back out his ears looking for something better?

Baseball Reference has his career OBP versus lefties at .319 (prior to today) so, overall, slightly better...
