All positives for Trump & MAGA-land... Absolutely!!! Definitely on board with Trump doing something stupid. Again.

I predict Katie Britt or Elise Stefanik to try and win back suburban moms. Kari Lake?

I'm ready to flip it ALL over to the kids. That means bringing up not only Edvinsson for next season, but also Tuomisto (RHD) and Wallinder (LHD). Keep Holl for the RH'd pairing either 2nd or 3rd (depending on Tuomisto) and Maatta for 3rd left-side pairing or 4th D on the bench, as needed. If an upgrade is needed... it can be held off until we see what the kids can do... or not. And adjust accordingly.

From reading that - and thank you - I can give a much shorter version: The Reversal of Reaganomics. Long overdue...

He was pretty crappy last season (2022-23) but yeah... he's been above-average this year. My impetus for moving on from him is that I think this may be his high point. We have several more years of commitment and I don't trust him not to regress to last season's crap. He started at top pair and was actually dragging Seider down with him in 2022. Once Walman took over top pair with Seider both Seider and Chiarot played better. I'd rather have Maatta because he's cheaper and less committed-to than Chiarot. He's also younger and actually makes more positive plays than Chiarot although that again, may be matchups. But I'm good with Walman and Edvinsson as top two LHD'men and would like to move on from Chiarot as soon as we can. Both to open up space for Edvinsson, as well as to move on before he regresses. Maybe this offseason? But yes... he's played much better this year than last...

Thanks but... don't have a NYT subscription. Summary, or highlights? On the importance of 1992, without even knowing what Wu is spelling out, I am going to agree with your point.

I don't consider globalism a problem. So I don't assign that to Clinton at all. The bigger problem that Clinton beget IMO is beholden to Big Corporate money. But... In order to compete against Big Money Republican Donors... I guess what was needed was Big Money Democrat Donors. Which bothers me mostly in the sense that: if policy is beholden, or written, adverse to the needs of the country. Obama & Biden have both pushed further left than the Clinton Centrist Corporate Dems... Which doesn't bother me one whit. But to yours and mine other points on Democratic Party corporatism: In order to compete: Bill Clinton.
-
The political strategy overrides Tater's agitation. As for the Love of Bill Clinton... I don't believe I am one of them either... although I would say the following: I am a champion of centrism. I am an adamant opponent of extremism from the left (communism) or the right (fascism). I am not afraid of so-called socialism, especially when it actually advances capitalism (I can expound on that at a later time), but if socialism gets locked in on itself and forgets the capitalist side (Chavezism/ welfare-state) I run away. There were loads of mistakes Clinton made, policy, as well as personal. But I do have some hero worship for Clinton that he pulled the Democratic Party away from a swirling downward spiral of hard left socialism and into the middle - with lots of both good and bad consequences - starting with the balance budget deal that he signed off on with the Republicans of the day. That (mostly) yanked the Dems out of the "Tax-and-Spend" pigeonhole that Republicans were successfully tagging Dems with even if that ended up with the modern Corporate Dems contingent...
-
No, not at all. It's called "recency bias". Whatever heavy baggage Clinton carries around is old enough for it to be pretty foggy in most memories. Or to not even register at all. Trump's crimes against Democracy, the Constitution, humanity, and women, are FRESH is everyone's minds. In fact, it's the ONLY thing that matters. Not to be rude but... I could give a FLYING **** about Clinton's sordid history. I JUST DON'T CARE. I don't know if that answers your question properly... you seem to be extremely sensitive over Clinton's sordid history... so, not to repeat myself but: I JUST DON'T CARE.
-
You can be as upset as you want to be... But there are millions and millions of Democrats who absolutely love Bill Clinton. So yes... your BC3 get dismissed... whether that is defensible or indefensible... it's reality. Smart play to put Clinton out there, at least a little, to generate that Dem enthusiasm.

3/27 8:00OM EDT Pistons @ Timberwolves
1984Echoes replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Detroit Pistons
That's what it is seriously looking like. Everyone's going to be looking at exit strategy. And then they'll all star on their next team... For whatever reason. Monty's fault? Or 100% Weaver? -
Sounds about right.
-
I think he made several defensive mistakes IIRC... so Lalonde stuck him back on the bench. Middling offense and multi-defensive mistakes is not a recipe to be re-signed methinks. Shinzaki may be right... back to Sweden is probably looking enticing to someone Berggren's age unable to break into/ stick in the NHL... Unless he can find a pathway somewhere else... with another NHL team. But I don't think his future is in Detroit.
-
Don't they view him as a multi-inning reliever? So yes... keep him stretched out for as long as possible. I mean, last year, not... regardless of minors or majors. But in 2022 exclusively as a starter... So... I don't know? Just a guess? I may be wrong on that...
-
The other thing is: Flores is probably on the same track as Madden... Eventually headed for the bullpen. But he had a couple nastier pitches than Madden (at least in 2022); and is on a faster track than Madden... for the bullpen. So he's in the rotation in Toledo, developing at the higher level and facing more advanced hitters. IIRC, he's limited in the number of effective pitches that he has... like... two. So it makes sense for him to be one step away from Detroit. As you say... Madden is still developing pitches and I think is more capable of developing secondary pitches, than Flores. So I guess that's why he's in Erie? Even if he also ends up in the bullpen (most likely scenario), he has more projection than Flores and needs more development time to see if he can figure that out. But... I'm just guessing.
-
But then who of Manning, Brieske, Flores, Hurter or Montero will NOT be the 5th starter, specifically because they were replaced by one of the 3 guys you mentioned? Because I don't see that. I think your 3 guys are the 6th, or tandem starter, or follow-on 2-3 innings reliever. Not in the rotation 1-5 pushing out one of the guys I've listed.
-
There's no shoveling whatsoever. Nothing I said was incorrect. You're just taking the easy way out by dumping on me.
-
I already stated that he most likely will end up in the bullpen, did you miss that? Also, I stated the correct reasons he would be in Erie's rotation, FOR NOW. And you didn't answer my question: Is he in Erie's bullpen? Or rotation?
-
BTW: Didn't you tell me two years ago that the prospects currently in our system are NO DIFFERENT than the prospects in our system in any other year? So our Detroit team right now consists of Munson, Anderson and Scott Sizemore, right? Because these guys are NO DIFFERENT than any other year, correct? Per your scouting acumen, as you so nobly pointed out, just above.
-
Awesome. I worship at your feet. Thank you for informing me of my duty to do so. But until he's actually in the bullpen... He's in Erie's rotation, isn't he?
-
Mark, has the Org stated SPECIFICALLY that they intend Madden to be in the bullpen? Because otherwise, it sounds like pure speculation on your part. And I see zero basis in reality for that speculation.
-
I'm assuming Manning-Brieske-Hurter-Flores-Montero are the Toledo rotation... So: (A) The Org likes all these guys. As starters. That's why Madden is in Erie. (B) Sammons has absolutely ZERO to do with anything. (C) Despite Marks opine on Madden ending up in the bullpen: He'll be in the Erie rotation this year. And he may well end up in the bullpen. But he's in Erie's rotation because (1) they'll keep him in a rotation for as long as possible until there's no choice but to put him in the bullpen, and that is NOT in the minors (for the foreseeable future), that will be in Detroit if/when he gets there. (2) Failed starters stay in rotations for as long as possible ALSO to develop their pitches as much as they can. Really hard to do that in the bullpen because that's where a pitcher usually simplifies to a top-two pitches, and innings are drastically lower than in the rotation.
-
Why do you want Ty Madden to replace Bryan Sammons in the Toledo bullpen?
-
Can they squeeze in both?
